  2. 'Best performance of season' - Askoupublished at 22:48 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Celtic

Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou tells BBC Sportsound: "I think it's probably the best we have performed so far in the season, if you take the full game into consideration.

"The level of the opponent, us coming in from a hard game three days ago where we had to shake off some disappointment, some frustration, to then come today and deliver this with a tactical change in the way we set up our defensive structure, with just one day for the players to convert that into this performance, that was fantastic.

"It's an impressive win and it's a day that our supporters and everyone in the club will remember for a long time... We'll try and forget it.

"I think my most important words I said in the dressing room were that we are not going to let this stop us, meaning that we're not going to think now we're a fantastic team and now we've done everything because we had this signature win that everyone's talking about for us.

"What we need to do is to create something over time and over the course of the season and the three points today and the clean sheet helps on that."

  3. Frustrated Robinson wants small moment improvementpublished at 22:38 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Rangers 2-1 St Mirren

St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "Real frustration with the two goals. We spoke about it and worked on the threat Fernandez has and we made two poor decisions for both goals.

"I didn't think Shamal [George] had a whole lot to do and Jack Butland was man of the match. I thought we were excellent second half. Once we started believing, we dominated large parts of the game without Rangers being a major threat.

"People miss penalties. I think it's the first one Marcus has missed in his career. It isn't one person's fault. Our performance was very good second half, but we come away with nothing because we didn't do the easy bits of the game.

"We have what we have to work with. We have to be better in small moments."

  4. 'Worst performance of season' - Martindalepublished at 22:35 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Livingston 1-3 Dundee United

Livingston manager David Martindale is very downbeat about his side's latest defeat.

"I don't think we started the game well and lost a really bad first goal," he tells BBC Scotland.

"That's possibly our worst performance of the season. It's definitely our worst home performance.

"We've been fairly competitive at home. Tonight we weren't.

"The first goal went in and then we just felt sorry for ourselves and there was just an acceptance.

"I feel we were lucky to be down 1-0 at half time and honestly it could have been more."

  6. Celtic 'stopped' tonight - Nancypublished at 22:30 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Celtic

Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy tells BBC Scotland: "It was not a good performance. We had difficulties today, while our opponents were connected.

"The way we conceded the first goal, we can do better with the throw-in.

"Except for one offence transition, they didn't have chances, but they had the ball. In the second half we were a bit better, more aggressive, where we pushed and had more opportunities.

"Tactically, the way they run together was interesting, when to press, when to stay. In the second half we were more front-footed.

"My players want to do well, but we struggled a bit defensively in the first half. They are a team who want to unbalance their opponents.

"We want to keep going, but this was a stop. This stop is going to allow us to be better collectively.

"The message is getting across, but we faced adversity today and that is the reality, after that comes a bit of doubt.

"I believe I saw good stuff, to press in the good moment and defend in the good moment.

"We were not as connected as we have been tonight."

On his confidence of turning this run around: "Yes. I need to see my players, I need to see them in these situations, I need to rest some players. Now it is time to get better and keep working because it is the only thing we can control."

  7. 'No hard luck stories' for Dundee - Pressleypublished at 22:27 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Dundee 2-1 Kilmarnock

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley tells BBC Scotland: "I was exceptionally proud of the way they played,

"We played so well in the first half and went in 1-0 down. I said to them in the dressing room 'there can be no hard luck stories tonight, we need to make sure we get what we deserve from the game'. They reacted brilliantly.

"There's been so much growth in them recently. We had a really good result against Falkirk and coming into this game, I stressed we hadn't recored back-to-back victories in 20 months.

"We had to own that, and change that. The players responded brilliantly."

  9. 'It could have been five or six' - Goodwinpublished at 22:21 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Livingston 1-3 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin is delighted with "a massive three points" in a difficult venue.

"We're delighted with the result," he tells BBC Scotland. "Everybody knows what a difficult venue this is to come to.

"I thought the performance from the start right through to the finish, apart from the goal we concede late on, was excellent.

"Every player played their part and the backline did brilliantly against Livingston, who are a big, physical team.

"We knew we would carry a threat on the counter attack. We highlighted some areas in the Livingston backline that we thought we could exploit and I thought we targeted those areas really well, getting down the sides of them.

"The game finished 3-1. Had it finished five or six, I don't think there would have been too many complaints."

  10. 'We are happy and carry on' - Rohlpublished at 22:20 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Rangers 2-1 St Mirren

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl tells BBC Scotland: "Not an easy one. We played 75 minutes a very good game, very controlled in both directions. Then we concede from a corner and it's difficult. In the end we are happy and can carry on.

"It's not about two, three, four games - it's about 10 and 11. We have to perform again and again consistently. At the moment we are doing this.

"I can see steps forwards from my group. I want to give Youssef today great credit - a great performance. He gives us exactly what he need. He is on the last line, he can keep the ball, he can link play, all those things.

"We won. We are happy. We took the next small step on our long journey.

"We have reduced the gap to three and six points, but it's nothing in football. It's about next, next, next. If we can carry on this way, we will have a good second half of the season.

"If you take a lot of wins and make a lot of things right, you come in positions where you can play for something. No-one will give us any presents in this league."

  13. 'Motherwell gave Celtic a proper schooling'published at 22:12 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Celtic

    Tom English
BBC Scotland chief sports writer on Sportsound

There was only one team in it.

Motherwell were class. I really enjoyed watching them - they passed it brilliantly and gave Celtic a proper schooling.

Elijah Just, Elliot Watt, you could go on. They controlled the game and had zero fear of Celtic.

They outplayed, outthought and outcoached Celtic.

Wilfried Nancy is in a desperate hole.

A wee gander at that league table, and you're starting to get the fear a wee bit for Livingston, and to an extent Kilmarnock.

Livi currently on nine points after 19 games. Killie on 13 after 20 games.

This time last year St Johnstone were on 14 points with 20 games played.

  17. 'We dominated the game'published at 22:04 GMT 30 December 2025

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Celtic

Motherwell midfielder Elliot Watt tells Premier Sports: "We've been frustrated against the big teams this season that we haven't got the results we deserved.

"We had to be switched on and we were amazing for the duration.

"I don't think we need to prove anyone wrong, we just need to keep proving ourselves right. A great result but I'm sure the manager will already be thinking about the next game. We need to keep our feet on the ground.

"We felt we had the quality and we dominated the game against a team with top players in it."

    FT: Motherwell 2-0 Celtic

Player of the match Elijah Just tells Premier Sports: "It's obviously a joy to be a part of when it all comes together.

"It will help us especially after the result a few days ago. We just need to keep pushing.

"We'll take confidence from the game."
