  1. Pressure still on for surging Blackpoolpublished at 14:48 GMT 26 December 2025

    Blackpool v Doncaster (15:00 GMT)

    Have Blackpool turned a corner?

The Tangerines are undefeated across their past four games in all competitions (W3 D1) and have only lost two of their eight League One games since new boss Ian Evatt took the reins.

It's left them with a good chance of getting out of the relegation spots should they claim a victory against Doncaster Rovers, the side immediately below them, thanks to a tightly congested bottom half of the table with just four points separating Rovers in 23rd from Wigan in 14th.

However, the two clubs are in similar situations and even if Rovers are on a three game losing streak, it's still up to the hosts to perform. After all, a loss today might see all Blackpool's good work come undone.

"There's a lot of positively around the club again," Evatt told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"We are trying to build on that and build on some momentum. But four games in 10 days against people that are in and around us, if we don't get the results in those games, the pressure gets turned around again."

The bottom of the League One table is a sight to behold.

Only Port Vale won't be able to escape the bottom four, with any of the 10 teams above them threatened with the possibility of taking the remaining three spots below the relegation line.

Meanwhile at the top end, Bradford and Stevenage will eye second place as Lincoln hope to stay there and close the gap on leaders Cardiff.

Nowadays Boxing Day is associated more with sore heads than sore legs, but it hasn't always been this way...

It's been 60 years since the last instalment of the traditional Christmas Day football programme in the English Football League.

Our own Glenn Speller has taken a look back at the meeting of Blackpool and Blackburn on 25 December 1965 and explains why the beloved tradition failed to last the test of time.

What else is on the Boxing Day agenda in League Two then...

Notts County, who sit a point off the top three in fourth, travel to seventh in the table Chesterfield. The Magpies are undefeated in their past four league games with last weekend's 0-0 against leaders Walsall ending a three-game winning streak. Paul Cook's Chesterfield are also in decent shape, suffering no defeats in the past three, winning their past two on the trot.

Sixth-placed Salford will be looking to make it three wins on the spin in their hunt for promotion when they welcome second from bottom Harrogate to the Peninsula Stadium. Karl Robinson's side are undefeated in the past four games, but the Ammies boss will not be in their dugout due to sickness, with Alex Bruce taking the reins today.

Cambridge are just a point adrift of the play-off places, despite being unbeaten in the past seven league games. The U's make the journey to a Gillingham side who have won just once in their past 12 games in League Two.

Fleetwood, who are a point behind Cambridge in ninth, have won their past two games going into today's encounter with Tranmere at Prenton Park. The hosts have suffered back-to-back defeats.

Contrasting form as strugglers Crawley, who are a point above the drop zone, host Colchester. The Red Devils are winless in their past six league encounters while Danny Cowley's Colchester side have tasted defeat just once in their past six as they aim to keep in touch with the play-off hopefuls.

Bottom club Newport are yet to win at home this season and have no wins in their past seven. They welcome a Barnet side, who have lost their past two in a row, to Rodney Parade.

  6. Saddlers looking to avoid a sense of deja-vupublished at 14:34 GMT 26 December 2025

Mat Sadler is aiming high with Walsall for the second season running

Walsall fans might be heading towards 2026 with a hint of trepadition and a fear of deja-vu.

Mat Sadler's side led League Two by six points last Christmas and extended that to 12 on New Year's Day.

Yet despite that dominance, the Saddlers' form dropped off a cliff as a defeat to Bradford City In January set off a run of just three wins in their last 21 games of the season to drop into the play-off places, before suffering heartbreak in the final at Wembley, losing to AFC Wimbledon under the arch.

Walsall are undefeated in their past five matches but draws in their two most recent games have allowed Swindon to close the gap, with a single goal of goal difference alone keeping the Saddlers top of the tree.

They could do with a strong performance and a win today to quell any fears of a repeat of last season's downturn.

  7. Will Robins keep pace with Saddlers?published at 14:31 GMT 26 December 2025

MK Dons v Swindon (15:00 GMT)

One goal is all that separates Swindon from the top of the league going into their meeting with MK Dons.

Wins in both their past two matches have meant Ian Holloway's side have kept pace with top-of-the-table Walsall, but they face a MK Dons team who have just one defeat in six in the league and are right in the mix for automatic promotion.

The Dons have lost just one of their past 15 matches against the Robins and have won five of their past six meetings.

A win today could see Paul Warne's side climb into the automatic promotion spots themselves, while Swindon will go top of the league if they better Walsall's result against Crewe Alexandra.

  8. Can Rovers build on point from Evans' first game?published at 14:28 GMT 26 December 2025

Bristol Rovers v Bromley (15:00 GMT)

Andy Woodman talks to his Bromley playersImage source, Shutterstock

So here we are, Boxing Day 2025 and Bromley find themselves sitting in the automatic play-off places of League Two in just their second ever season in the EFL.

Beat Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium today and, should Walsall and Swindon fail to win against Crewe and MK Dons, respectively, Andy Woodman's side would be top of the league going into the final game of the year.

A point against Crewe in Steve Evans' first game in charge ended a run of 10 straight league defeats for the Gas, who are just one point above the relegation places.

Evans will hope that result can serve as the first sign the tanker might be beginning to turn.

It is the first ever league meetings between the two clubs, with all three previous games coming in the FA Cup.

The most recent of which, this year's first round tie, saw a rare 2-1 win for Rovers.

  9. All four one and one for all...published at 14:25 GMT 26 December 2025

Walsall may have edged the fight to be Christmas No1 in League Two, but any one of four teams could be sat top of the pile come teatime on Boxing Day.

And at the other end there are four teams trying to avoid being in the relegation zone alongside basement boys Newport this afternoon too.

The Saddlers host Crewe, sitting ahead of Swindon by a single goal of goal difference ahead of the Robins' trip to fifth-placed MK Dons.

Third-placed Bromley will seek to continue their fine form at lowly Bristol Rovers while Notts County are waiting to pounce on any slip-ups as they make the short trip to Chesterfield.

The top-10 and bottom five could have a very different look by 5pm. This afternoon should be a cracker...

Barely able to move? The smell of roast turkey still wafting through the house? Sounds like you might need some fresh air and fortunately the EFL is here to help on Boxing Day.

While some European leagues take their winter break we plough on in England.
