    Derbys v Glos 98-3

Zak Chappell overpitches and James Bracey drives it unerringly for four. There haven't been many so far today so savour it, Glos followers.

    Surrey v Essex 173-0

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

"They've left the ball brilliantly. If you together a highlights package of Elgar and Walter letting the ball go today, it would be a heck of a good package if you're into that sort of thing. My Hundred would be a Hundred balls where you're not allowed to play a shot. How many of the modern generation would be able to do that?"

We wonder how Vaibhav Sooryavanshi would fare in Mark's format?

  3. Postpublished at 14:46 BST 24 April

    Notts v Warwickshire 156-5

Both umpires, Messrs Middlebrook and Pollard, have been consulting with Notts captain Haseeb Hameed regarding the condition of the ball. The rings have been out but, having had a chat, it has been decided that the hosts must continue with the match ball as is.

Ed Barnard promptly cuts Josh Tongue for four, the very next delivery, before ducking out of the way of an excellent bouncer the ball after. In the third ball of the over, Barnard looks to pull but misses out.

Good battle, this. Barnard is currently on 38.

Evison lbw Waite 14 (Worcestershire v Kent 99-7)

Joey Evison was dropped a little earlier, but he is on his way now.

Make that Kent seven down without reaching three figures.

    Glamorgan 150-4 v Leicestershire

A single into the off side by Kiran Carlson brings up Glamorgan's 150.

  6. Postpublished at 14:43 BST 24 April

    Glamorgan 149-4 v Leicestershire

Expensive over from Leicestershire's Josh Davey - three consecutive boundaries.

A lovely measured and deliberate shot steered towards the vacant third man boundary by Sean Dickson with the second ball of Davey's over.

Dickson then punches a drive down to long off for four more and backs that up with a square cut to move onto 35 not out.

That brings up the 50 partnership between Dickson and Kiran Carlson.

  7. Postpublished at 14:38 BST 24 April

    Surrey v Essex 167-0

Surrey have managed to tighten things up in the last few overs. Jordan Clark completes a tidy over, but Essex won't care about that while their openers are still together.

BBC Essex's Nick Gledhill suggests Joe Root should be considered as an opener by England to create room for James Rew in the middle order. We're sure Somerset fans don't care where Rew bats as long as he is given a chance by the selectors.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:34 BST 24 April

    Coles c Root b Hill 47 (Yorkshire v Sussex 150-5)

James Coles will be disappointed with that one.

He feels for one outside off stump but without the required conviction and sends the ball to Joe Root at first slip.

Coles falls three runs short of a half-century as his side reach 150.

This game has seen momentum swing this way and that but Yorkshire can really get on top now if they can knock over a couple more.

  9. 150 runs

150 up for Lancashirepublished at 14:34 BST 24 April

    Durham v Lancashire 152-4

The run rate has slowed down somewhat after lunch as Matty Hurst edges past gully for three to get off the mark.

Callum Parkinson is currently on for Durham for a little bit of left-arm spin for the first time today.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:33 BST 24 April

    Benjamin c Roderick b Hannon-Dalby 4 (Worcestershire v Kent 94-6)

Six down now for Kent before they have reached three figures.

It's a third wicket for Olly Hannon-Dalby who tempts Chris Benjamin into a drive but the Kent man edges behind to Gareth Roderick who makes no mistake.

    Webster b Tongue 25 (Notts v Warwickshire 140/5)

Another for Notts - and another for Tongue! He now has three wickets today.

Rather rash from Webster - big swing outside of off stump and he plays on. The breakthrough brings Zen Malik to the crease.

    Leaning c Lyth b Hill 20 (Yorkshire v Sussex 145-4)

First wicket of the afternoon session for Yorkshire!

It comes just after James Coles and Jack Leaning reach the 50 partnership.

Leaning is caught at second slip by Adam Lyth to give George Hill his first wicket of the match.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Marcus Harrispublished at 14:24 BST 24 April

    Durham v Lancashire 148-4

Marcus Harris glances a single off his hip to bring up 50.

It has taken 104 balls for the Australian to get to his half-century as he lifts his bat and points towards the pavilion.

A gritty knock from the left-hander.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Kiran Carlsonpublished at 14:22 BST 24 April

    Glamorgan 124-4 v Leicestershire

50 for Glamorgan captain Kiran Carlson.

An inside edge takes Carlson to his half-century, a stroke of luck no question.

He looks a little bit sheepish as he raises his bat to the crowd.

It has come off just 68 deliveries.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:19 BST 24 April

    Bancroft c Bashir b Andersson 40 (Derbys v Glos 81-3)

    That's the one they wanted.

Cameron Bancroft tries to tuck a ball from Martin Andersson away off his hip, but doesn't get on top of it and Shoaib Bashir takes the catch at square leg.

All that hard work and not even a 50 to show for it for the Australian opener, who faced 105 balls and hit only three fours.

  16. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:17 BST 24 April

    Worcestershire v Kent 85-5

Oooh it could have been worse for Kent!

Adam Hose can't keep hold of it and Joey Evison gets a life as Beyers Swanepoel misses out on a third scalp.

Worcs have bowled very well today and Kent are struggling.

  17. Postpublished at 14:16 BST 24 April

    Glamorgan 115-4 v Leicestershire

A short long hop from Josh Davey is punished towards the boundary through mid-wicket by Sean Dickson who moves onto 13 not out.

Dickson has played nicely since coming to the crease.

    Notts v Warwickshire 121-4

This fifth-wicket partnership for Warwickshire feels important, particularly after the removal of Sam Hain so early into the afternoon session.

All-rounders Barnard and Webster have since played sensibly, have punished the odd bad ball but in the main have been observant.

There is more batting to come in the form of Zen Malik, Chris Woakes and Jordan Thompson so the Bears do bat deep, but they will hope that the pair currently out in the middle can spend plenty of time there this afternoon.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:13 BST 24 April

    Muyeye c Roderick b Hannon-Dalby 19 (Worcestershire v Kent 81-5)

Those Kent alarm bells are ringing louder now.

Tawanda Muyeye and Daniel Bell-Drummond have both departed within six balls of each other and suddenly the visitors are five down and in trouble.

Muyeye goes caught behind by Gareth Roderick standing up to the stumps and it's another one for Olly Hannon-Dalby who is enjoying life at the Pears.

Kent collapsing again. Really difficult to say what's going wrong: the players are far from bad, they just seem to either make bad decisions at the worst time, or are suffering from a critical loss of confidence and self-belief. Long season ahead, it seems.

  20. Postpublished at 14:12 BST 24 April

    Surrey v Essex 152-0

Paul Walter crashes a Gus Atkinson no-ball to the extra cover boundary for four.

The England paceman is guilty of overstepping again in his next over and the free runs bring up a 150 partnership for the Essex openers.
