    Yorkshire v Sussex 344-6

Yorkshire have only managed one wicket with the new ball - albeit an important one - that of Tom Price for 93.

But how they would love another one or two before close.

They have five overs left in the day.

  2. 350 up for Lancashirepublished at 18:10 BST 24 April

    Durham v Lancashire 350-7

A beautifully timed off drive from Marcus Harris goes to the boundary for four.

Harris then calmly works a single into the on side to bring up Lancashire's 350 and earn the visitors' third bonus point of the innings.

These could prove important runs for Lancashire by the time Monday comes around too.

  3. Postpublished at 18:10 BST 24 April

    Derbys v Glos 250-6

Gloucestershire earn a batting point as Miles Hammond sashays forward and strokes Mo Abbas to the cover boundary. A very confident shot by the Glos left-hander, who is now 118 not out.

  4. wicket

    Pepper b Atkinson 17 (Surrey v Essex 309-6)

Gus Atkinson's persistence pays off as he cramps Michael Pepper for room and bowls him off the inside edge.

Not sure what Pepper was trying to do there - a late, ungainly prod at the ball was his undoing.

Simon Harmer comes to the middle with eight and a half overs remaining in the day's play.

  5. Postpublished at 18:06 BST 24 April

    Durham v Lancashire 338-7

A wide delivery from Sam Conners is slashed at by Tom Bailey and finds the gap in the field to reach the boundary for four.

Three overs left in the day at Chester-le-Street. If Lancashire don't lose another wicket before close tonight, it will probably be seen as their day.

  6. Five-wicket haul for Josh Tonguepublished at 18:04 BST 24 April

    Thompson c Duckett b Tongue 21 (Notts v Warwickshire 335-8)

That is five for Josh Tongue!

He delivers a good length ball across Jordan Thompson, who takes a swipe but only helps it to Ben Duckett, who waits at second slip with safe hands.

Tongue has been largely excellent all day. He has got through plenty of overs, which will please England, and has produced the goods too.

That was another nifty little knock from Thompson, who moves Warwickshire's total on again with two wickets remaining.

  7. Postpublished at 18:03 BST 24 April

    Surrey v Essex 305-5

Lovely straight drive by Noah Thain off Jordan Clark brings him a fifth boundary. He progresses top 25 not out.

  8. Postpublished at 18:02 BST 24 April

    Derbys v Glos 245-6

No playing for tomorrow by Gloucestershire yet.

Miles Hammond drives Ben Aitchison for four and two balls later, Ed Middleton finds the boundary with a pull shot.

Their partnership is now worth 78.

  9. Postpublished at 17:59 BST 24 April

    Surrey v Essex 300-5

An easy single for Michael Pepper takes Essex to their second batting bonus point.

He and Noah Thain have done a decent job of blunting the Surrey attack since the dismissal of Matt Critchley, which left them on 262-5.

    Glamorgan 315-7 v Leicestershire

Timm van der Gugten flicks a loose leg side delivery from Josh Davey off his pads down to fine leg for four.

Together, Mason Crane and van der Gugten have added exactly 50 now for the eighth wicket.

Still no joy for England's Gus Atkinson, who is striving for his first wicket of the day with the second new ball.

Michael Pepper drives past cover for four in his latest over - there are 12 more to come before the close.

"It's a beautiful evening here," says BBC Essex's Nick Gledhill.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:52 BST 24 April

    Price c Lyth b White 93 (Yorkshire v Sussex 319-6)

The new ball does the trick for Yorkshire - and how they needed it to!

Tom Price batted beautifully but falls just seven runs short of a century as Jack White has him caught by Adam Lyth at second slip.

But Price's contribution can't be underestimated as he and John Simpson put on 165 runs for the sixth wicket.

  13. Postpublished at 17:52 BST 24 April

    Durham v Lancashire 331-7

Runs beginning to flow again for Lancashire.

A back foot punch from Tom Bailey through cover point races to the boundary as Bailey moves onto 13 not out.

  14. Postpublished at 17:49 BST 24 April

    Durham v Lancashire 327-7

Marcus Harris clips one off his pads through mid-wicket. Beautifully timed.

The following ball is then creamed through the covers for another boundary as the Australian puts his foot down on the pedal, moving onto 126 not out.

He is looking to push his side towards the 350-mark before the close of play today.

  15. 100 runs

for Miles Hammondpublished at 17:45 BST 24 April

    Derbys v Glos 217-6

What a great knock for his side from Miles Hammond.

The left-hander reaches his sixth first-class hundred off 192 balls by steering Ben Aitchison to point for a sharp single.

Only one other batter has passed 20 in this innings, which illustrates just how important it has been.

Credit Ed Middleton too - together they have added 50 for the seventh wicket.

  16. new ball

New ball for Nottspublished at 17:42 BST 24 April

    Notts v Warwickshire 317-7

The new ball, predictably, has been taken by Notts at Trent Bridge.

Jordan Thompson - not at bad player to welcome to the crease as your number nine batter - lifted Liam Patterson-White, at the end of his spell, over deep extra cover with the final ball of the old ball.

He has already played an attractive shot for four off this Josh Tongue over, and then another walloped back over the fast bowler's head!

  17. 300 runs

300 up for Glamorganpublished at 17:40 BST 24 April

    Glamorgan 300-7 v Leicestershire

Mason Crane is squared up a touch as the ball squirms through for a single.

    That brings up Glamorgan's 300.

The hosts were 91-4 at lunch so this signals an excellent fightback from the Welsh club.

  18. new ball

New ball for Surreypublished at 17:38 BST 24 April

    Surrey v Essex 283-5

The new ball is taken and Jordan Clark will bowl the first over with it.

He took the wicket of Dean Elgar earlier in the day after the South African put on 183 for the first wicket with Paul Walter.

Michael Pepper picks up a single before Noah Thain collects the first four of his innings to square leg.

Clark responds by striking the young Essex all-rounder a painful blow 'amidships'.

  19. 300 runs

300 up for Warwickshirepublished at 17:37 BST 24 April

    Notts v Warwickshire 300-7

The short stuff, akin to what you would see Josh Tongue producing while on England duty, has continued after the removal of Chris Woakes in an attempt to cause more discomfort.

That said, the final ball of that particular was a poor one - short, wide and swatted away by Ed Barnard (111*) to bring up the Bears' 300.

  20. Postpublished at 17:36 BST 24 April

    Derbys v Glos 212-6

Looks like Miles Hammond wants this century before the new ball.

He shuffles down the track and hits Martin Andersson past mid-on for four.

The left-hander can't do it, though and is 99 not out as the 80th over ticks past.
