Sam Hain and Beau Webster are on a bit of a rebuilding mission for Warwickshire, after Josh Tongue - who has been given a rest by captain Haseeb Hameed following an eight-over spell - claimed the wickets of Rob Yates and Dan Mousley.

Both batters at the crease have already been the subjects of fervent but unsuccessful appeals, with Notts on top at present. The Bears, meanwhile, are trying to negotiate these remaining overs leading up to lunch.

    Derbys v Glos 57-2

An unfortunate bit of news from the Co-op County Ground where all-rounder Anuj Dal has had to be carried off on a stretcher after slipping in his bowling run-up.

"Our thought are with you, Nuj", the club say in an X post.

We join them in hoping that the injury isn't anything too serious.

    Worcestershire v Kent 56-3

It's been a bit of a struggle this morning for the visitors who have lost their top three batters.

Scoring has been slow and Tawanda Muyeye and captain Daniel Bell-Drummond appear content to make sure there is no further damage before the lunch bell rings.

    Jennings b Aldridge 44 (Durham v Lancashire 106-3)

Big wicket! Keaton Jennings drags on!

The left-handed opener looks to attempt another big drive into the off side but instead chops on to his own stumps as he neared 50. He will be gutted with that one.

It was there to be hit but Kasey Aldridge strikes for Durham.

Michael Jones walks to the crease for Lancashire.

    Surrey v Essex 105-0

    Dean ElgarImage source, Shutterstock

It hasn't been the best of starts to the season for Dean Elgar - scores of 2, 41, 7, 7 and 0 before this innings.

But he's looking his normal solid self today and steers Matt Fisher through the covers for four to reach 50 from 79 balls.

Elgar is a batter who knows how to 'go big' so Surrey will want to see the back of him as soon as possible.

    Surrey v Essex 100-0

Surrey have been pretty disciplined with their lines but Tom Lawes strays onto Dean Elgar's pads and is flicked away through square leg for four as the Essex openers post a century stand from 142 balls.

100 up for Lancashirepublished at 12:41 BST 24 April

    Durham v Lancashire 106-2

A well-timed off drive from Keaton Jennings goes for another boundary as Lancashire's third-wicket partnership is now worth more than 50.

Jennings goes on the drive once more three deliveries later, finding the bottom edge this time, to run one down deep backward of square for four more as Lancashire move past 100.

    Tribe b Hull 24 (Glamorgan 55-3 v Leicestershire)

    What a beautiful delivery!

A Yorker length ball from Josh Hull takes Asa Tribe's off stump as the batsman went on the drive and missed it completely.

40-year-old South African Colin Ingram walks to the crease for Glamorgan. Big 20 minutes before lunch this.

50 for Tom Hainespublished at 12:37 BST 24 April

    Yorkshire v Sussex 77-2

Tom Haines makes it to his second half-century of the season

He's batted well throughout the morning and has found the boundary with regular ease, hitting 12 fours.

Haines and James Coles (13*) have steadied the ship for Sussex after they lost two wickets in an over a little earlier on.

One brings two for Josh Tongue, who claims the wicket of Dan Mousley - he falls one short of what would have been a deserved, run a ball, half-century.

Mousley looks to play into the leg-side but Tongue finds the leading edge and it pops up for Notts captain Haseeb Hameed at mid off. Mousley cannot believe it as he makes his way off.

    Surrey v Essex 93-0

"It's starting to swing now," says BBC Radio London's Mark Church as he returns to the commentary box.

Tom Lawes begins his second spell of the morning for Surrey as they seek to separate the Essex openers in the a-little-less-than-half-an-hour left before lunch.

As an Essex fan, delighted with the start. But we do of course have to factor in the inevitable batting collapse, so not getting too excited just yet.

Oh dear , not another 4 dayer at the Oval with 1,500 runs and 15 wickets !!!!!!

    Durham v Lancashire 94-2

    Frustration for Durham's Ben Raine.

He gets Marcus Harris to push at one outside of off stump and it carries through to wicket-keeper Ollie Robinson but he can't hold on low down to his left.

Another opportunity goes down for the hosts.

It’s rubbish being a Kent fan at the moment. Looking at another season down the bottom of the league, nothing going right for Crawley to the point you’re starting to feel sorry for him, and Rob Key isn’t exactly winning any popularity contests, so not much to smile about!

    Glamorgan 50-2 v Leicestershire

Glamorgan move onto 50 in the 21st over of the day at Sophia Gardens.

Asa Tribe (23 not out) has began the morning session assuredly, defensively solid, and putting the odd bad ball away wherever he can.

More views on the Jacob Bethell Championship v IPL back and forth....

With the Bethell situation I agree with Pietersen The experience he will gain over there being surrounded by players like Kohli will develop his batting. However Cook has a point about getting some county runs under his belt.

    Fergus

I think players who want to play Tests should be putting in the overs for their counties, not because it is 'better' but they need the stamina of 3 days solid in the field as well as experience bowling 20 or 30 overs or batting for 3 sessions.

Three runs for Dean Elgar takes him to 41 not out.
