  1. Ire 41-2published at 8 overs

    Target 162

There is some of that aggression straight away from the fabulously talented Orla Prendergast.

Pure timing, using a bit of extra pace from Fraser to guide the ball past point for four.

That definitely feels like a decisive moment in this match. Gaby Lewis holds a lot of the hopes for Ireland.

There is still some good aggressive batting to come though.

    And the pressure tells.

Ireland skipper Gaby Lewis trudges off looking disappointed, falling for 11 from 19 balls. She skips down the pitch in an attempt to be aggressive but Katherine Fraser smartly throws the ball a little wider.

Lewis can't reach it and Sarah Bryce whips off the bails.

  4. Ire 35-1published at 7 overs

    Target 162

Ireland really need to get a move on here or else the run-rate is going to spiral way beyond their control.

Meanwhile, the Australia and South African sides are in the building. Unsurprisingly, they all have their hands in their pockets and it's woolly hats all around.

It feels really strange seeing Kirstie Gordon in a Scotland kit again - she briefly took my spot in the England team!

  6. Ire 31-1published at 6 overs

    Target 162

    Gordon nearly gets the breakthrough!

Gaby Lewis attempts a reverse sweep but gets in a right tangle and is struck in front. There's little interest from the umpire and Sarah Bryce shakes her head behind the stumps, too.

But that's a good end to the powerplay from Scotland as they continue to keep Ireland quiet.

The score comparison at this stage, Ireland just slightly behind. In the first innings, we saw as the partnerships grew, the runs tallied up.

I think the Scotland bowlers are better though so it will be made difficult.

  8. Ire 28-1published at 5 overs

    Target 162

Rachel Slater pulls things back well for Scotland, just a single from the over.

Now then, let's have a look at Kirstie Gordon back in a Scotland shirt at a World Cup.

Gabriella Fontenla, Scotland's opening bowler who only turned 18 on 1 June, is part of Yorkshire's academy. I'm told she had never played in a stadium containing seats before today. Three fours in that over but she's got a bit about her with her pace and outswing.

The whole crowd just went "woah" in unison at that Bryce catch. Almost nonchalant in her excellence.

It looks like it's gotten a bit quicker out there now as the field looks to have dried a bit.

  12. Ire 27-1published at 4 overs

    Target 162

    That's more like it!

The Ireland batters put an end to Gabriella Fontenla's solid start with three fours in the over.

Gaby Lewis plays a glorious drive down the ground before Amy Hunter goes back-to-back, both crashed through the off side.

It's a little bit pokey and pushy from Gaby Lewis here.

  14. Ire 12-1published at 3 overs

    Target 162

It's been a pretty cautious start from Ireland, which they can't really afford in the powerplay. Scotland have been very disciplined with the ball.

  15. Ire 10-1published at 2 overs

    Target 162

Gabriella Fontenla, who has immediately upset me as I find out that she was born in 2008, starts with another tidy over that concedes just three.

Ireland captain Gaby Lewis has joined Amy Hunter in the middle.

Kathryn Bryce, take a bow. We have seen this before from her - she stuck her mitt out and was like Spiderman. It just stuck.

    What a grab!

Kathryn Bryce had been hit for four earlier in the over but responds in style. It's a similar shot as Alana Dalzell tries to whack it down the ground but Bryce sticks out one hand and takes a blinder.

Scotland's skipper continues to lead from the front.

  18. Ire 3-0published at 0.2 overs

Both batters get themselves off the mark first ball.

There are thick clouds overhead but I think we should avoid any rain. Fair to say it'll be an adjustment in weather for South Africa and Australia later today.

Right, let's get this chase going.

Amy Hunter and Alana Dalzell are in the middle and you can see how strongly the wind is blowing across their shirts. I went for a run in Manchester this morning and can confirm it was grim.

Kathryn Bryce is straight into action with the first over for Scotland.
