We haven't seen Scotland put a foot wrong in the field. There were a lot of fumbles in the field and a lot of wide throws when Ireland were out there.

    Target 162

Ireland's best batter Orla Prendergast has been able to do nothing but watch the chaos unfold from the other end.

She pings another boundary through the covers off Katherine Fraser.

Afternoon from a breezy Old Trafford, with Ireland struggling to get Scotland's bowlers away as the run-rate climbs. Great atmosphere here already, and loads of Scotland and Ireland fans in. Love it!

What an incredible spell from Kirstie Gordon. Ireland are well and truly in trouble now. The writing is on the wall.

    Tector b Gordon 0 (Ire 70-6)

Kirstie Gordon cannot stop taking wickets!

Two runs and three wickets in an over that has surely sealed the game for Scotland. Alice Tector misses a straight one and Ireland are collapsing in a heap.

The catching, the instinctive awareness of Gordon. That is a great catch.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.5 overs

    Paul c & b Gordon 0 (Ire 70-5)

Two in the over! Scotland are on a roll.

We saw Kathryn Bryce take a stunning caught and bowled earlier and Kirstie Gordon adds one to her collection, too.

Leah Paul drills the ball firmly back to the bowler and Gordon takes a sharp catch diving to her right. It's a great grab with celebrations to match.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.3 overs

    Stokell b Gordon 2 (Ire 70-4)

    Kirstie Gordon delivers!

Good captaincy from Kathryn Bryce, turning back to her best bowler to keep the pressure on the new batter Rebecca Stokell, who goes back in her crease and plays on to a fuller delivery.

The pressure piles even more heavily on Orla Prendergast.

That actually feels more decisive to me than the Gaby Lewis wicket because Amy Hunter is so important to the cause, I feel like she will be very disappointed. Tried to take it on but now it's swung heavily towards Scotland.

    Target 162

Rebecca Stokell joins Orla Prendergast in the middle.

Ireland need an ambitious 94 from 48 balls.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.4 overs

    Hunter b Fraser 39 (Ire 67-3)

Amy Hunter's resistance comes to an end.

She mistimes a reverse sweep and somehow ends up playing the ball back on to her stumps as Katherine Fraser gets the breakthrough.

The youngster played some cracking shots in her 39 but having taken 36 balls to get there, it has left Ireland with a lot of catching up to do.

Ireland have so much to do. It's not impossible, we saw Scotland get a move on in the middle of the innings. But or Ireland, the question is who is going to step up and get those runs.

  14. Ire 66-2published at 11 overs

    Target 162

Another fine bit of timing from Hunter, picking the gap perfectly between mid-on and mid-wicket for four off Kathryn Bryce.

Meanwhile, the Irish batters waiting to come in next are huddled in blankets and towels in the dugout. Welcome to the great British summer, everyone.

A big difference is the running between the wickets. The Bryce sisters were very quick, Ireland not quite as nippy.

Another thing is the catching. There haven't been any dropped catches this innings but in the first, there was pretty much a chance an over. Dropping Kathryn Bryce on 20 ended up being very costly.

  16. Ire 58-2published at 10 overs

    Target 162

Amy Hunter finally gets going, pulling Chloe Abel's first ball confidently for four before playing a lovely ramp over the keeper for another boundary.

Hunter needs to keep this up to avoid the pressure piling on Prendergast. The run-rate is pushing 11 an over now.

We saw this pattern in the first innings. Slow start but that period when the Bryce sisters were batting together, they were able to go at almost nine runs an over for Scotland.

  19. Ire 44-2published at 9 overs

    Target 162

Kirstie Gordon is showing just what a big asset she is back in this Scotland side.

She whizzes through another solid over, and has bowled two overs for just six.

I do think we'll see some positive batting from Orla Prendergast.
