  1. 'Looks a good pitch'published at 12:08 BST 1 May

    Northants v Worcs 52-3

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Worcestershire losing an early wicket after choosing to bat might have been something of a shock as Jake Libby was caught at second slip by Calvin Harrison in Harry Conway’s first over.

What a brilliant slip fielder Harrison is by the way!

Youngster Dan Lategan was playing very positively having been joined by Gareth Roderick who has moved up to three in the order in the absence of Kashif Ali and despite decent bowling from the Northants pair of Sanderson and Conway it looks a good pitch.

    Leics v Notts 63-0

    Haseeb Hameed battingImage source, Shutterstock

Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater (26) brought up their half century partnership in 77 balls with the latter carving Josh Hull through point.

And now the Notts skipper is starting to motor pouncing on an over-pitched delivery from Hull and sending it racing to the cover boundary.

Hameed (33) got himself in form in the second innings against Warwickshire last week and he looks in the mood for another here.

To be fair to Hull he comes back well with a couple of belters, beating the outside edge of Hameed and then swinging one back into his legs.

The appeal is turned down correctly as it was doing too much.

    Kent 54-1 v Derbyshire

Zak Crawley goes to 34 with his seventh four of the innings.

That's the England and Kent opener's highest score of the season.

    Surrey v Sussex 61-1

Is the Surrey ground waterlogged? It's the only reason I have as to why they haven't bothered to prepare a strip but just stuck the wickets in a random park. Greenest pitch in history.

  5. 50 runs

partnership between Hughes & Clarkpublished at 11:57 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 61-1

Sussex seem to have found their way through that opening onslaught from Surrey.

They lost a wicket at 0-1 in the second over and survived a loud lbw shout soon after.

But Tom Clark (38*) and Daniel Hughes (22*) have steadied things nicely for the visitors.

  6. Postpublished at 11:55 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 41-0

Less than convincing from Asa Tribe who attempts to drop the ball down on the leg side but edges to the right of third slip down to the third man boundary.

Codi Yusuf has not quite got his line right so far this morning but he can count himself unlucky there.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:52 BST 1 May

    Wharton c J Rew b Gregory 0 (Somerset v Yorkshire 48-2)

But just as Yorkshire approach 50 they lose a second!

James Wharton failed to score from 20 deliveries before being caught behind by James Rew with a wonderful one-handed grab.

Wharton is the only change to Yorkshire's line-up from the previous match. He is in for Sam Whiteman who has suffered a painful sounding testicular injury, we wish him well in his recovery.

You might have heard of the new batter - it's the one and only Joe Root.

  8. Postpublished at 11:50 BST 1 May

    Somerset v Yorkshire 48-1

Yorkshire have recovered from the loss of Adam Lyth and it is his in-form opening partner Fin Bean who is leading the way on 25*.

Bean scored 105 in his last game against Sussex and looks in good nick again.

  9. Postpublished at 11:46 BST 1 May

    Kent 36-1 v Derbyshire

Zak Crawley has moved to 25 with five fours.

    The danger zone...

  10. 'Notts openers know each other well'published at 11:42 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 27-0

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

The two openers for Nottinghamshire have now opened together more than 100 times. They know each other's game so well.

  11. Postpublished at 11:41 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 27-0

Promising bit of outswing for Ian Holland as he hoops one away from the outside edge of Ben Slater's bat.

Had the slips very much interested for a moment but just did too much. Lots of oohs and hands on heads from the four men behind.

  12. Postpublished at 11:33 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 20-0

It has been blocky blocky for Haseeb Hameed so far but he produces his first shot in anger pumping Ian Holland to within a few feet of the long off boundary to run three.

The Notts captain has moved to a stately seven from 25 balls.

Ben Slater is not in a much more expansive mood but has carved Holland for a nice four through cover to move to 12 from 23 deliveries after eight overs.

  13. 'A very big wicket'published at 11:33 BST 1 May

    Somerset v Yorkshire 26-1

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It was a very big wicket.

Adam Lyth has has scored more runs against Somerset than any other team in his first-class career.

It think it was a pretty good decision. I'm not sure he did take the inside edge, I think he might have thought it was going down, but he did come right across his stumps.

  14. Division Two latestpublished at 11:32 BST 1 May

Kent have lost a wicket, but it's not Zak Crawley who has moved onto 15.

Ben Dawkins was dismissed by Derbyshire seamer Martin Andersson to leave Kent 21-1.

Worcestershire have also seen an early wicket go against Northants with Harry Conway getting Jake Libby in the second over. The Pears are 27-1.

Middlesex are off to a solid start at a sun-drenched Lord's. They're 22-0 against Durham, who pulled off that thrilling chase against Lancashire in the last round.

  15. 'Clark in decent nick'published at 11:27 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 19-1

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

Tom Clark, who started the season as he did last season with a century in his first match, then a bit of a barren run with a couple of ducks.

But he batted very nicely up at Leeds in the second innings last week.

Actually when Sussex were just in a spot of trouble on the final day, they lost a wicket early on, but then Tom batted really nicely to make 93.

So, he comes into this game in decent nick, the left-hander.

  16. Postpublished at 11:26 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 15-1

Daniel Hughes and Tom Clark have survived the stern Surrey examination so far but have had to be on top of their game to do so.

Sussex lost Tom Haines to go 0-1 and the current duo need to just keep things steady for their side to avoid another early dismissal.

  17. Postpublished at 11:25 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 20-0

A brisk start to proceedings for the bespectacled Asa Tribe who has 13 from 20 balls constructed largely of boundaries.

Three of them have come from the bowling of Codi Yusuf who has thrice strayed towards leg and thrice been clipped to the rope.

  18. wicket

    Lyth lbw b Ogborne 8 (Somerset v Yorkshire 17-1)

The momentum of that confident Yorkshire start has just taken a bump.

Promising left armer Alfie Ogborne comes in around wicket and his rapid delivery breaches the defences of Adam Lyth who is plumb.

Yeovil-born Ogborne is a childhood Somerset supporter and has been tipped by some in the know to make a big impact this season.

  20. 'It does look little bit gloomy'published at 11:16 BST 1 May

    Somerset v Yorkshire 17-0

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

There's a good crowd here for the first morning.

It does look little bit gloomy from the commentary box. The floodlights are not on, but there's some fairly heavy skies and the forecast I saw, the threat of any rain will come in this first session then it seems to better as the day goes on.
