  1. Postpublished at 11:16 BST 1 May

    Somerset v Yorkshire 17-0

A confident start from Yorkshire after being put in to bat.

Adam Lyth and Fin Bean have both found the boundary and have pushed their side out to 17 for no loss after three and bit overs.

  2. Postpublished at 11:13 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 4-0

Josh Davey nearly brushed the off stump of Haseeb Hameed in his first over with the Notts captain just about judging a leave perfectly.

Now the Scotland international so nearly introduces ball to the outside edge of Ben Slater's bat who plays and misses.

A decent start from the hosts at Upstonsteel Grace Road after they put Notts in.

  3. Postpublished at 11:13 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 0-1

There is a huge shout from Surrey bowler Sean Abbott and team-mates for a second Sussex wicket for lbw but the umpire remains unmoved.

Daniel Hughes survives but Surrey are putting on some serious pressure early in the day.

Talking of that green wicket at Hampshire, it looks very green at The Oval too.

  5. 'The wicket is greener than normal'published at 11:08 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 8-0

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

We are set fair here and it's virtually blue sky ahead.

The wicket is a little greener than it normally is here. I'm told the reason is to try and get little bit more pace in the wicket because in the last game here against Somerset it got very, very slow indeed.

  6. Postpublished at 11:07 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 8-0

First boundary of the morning and it has come off the bat of Asa Tribe who thumps Codi Yusuf through mid on for a straight driven four.

Could Tribe be a contender for an England opening spot?

WICKETpublished at 11:07 BST 1 May

    Haines c Pope b Abbott 0 (Surrey v Sussex 0-1)

    That was quick!

What a start for the hosts as Sean Abbott dismisses Sussex opener Tom Haines with the eighth ball of the day.

Ollie Pope takes a good catch high to his left at second slip to have the visitors one down without scoring.

  8. Crawley batting for Kentpublished at 11:04 BST 1 May

    Kent 2-0 v Derbyshire

Zak Crawley, whose England place is always under plenty of scrutiny, is in the middle for Kent.

In six innings for his county side this season, he has a highest score of 31.

  11. Somerset eye top spot; Root & Bairstow play for Yorkspublished at 10:57 BST 1 May

    Somerset v Yorkshire (11:00 BST)

Somerset have won the toss and will bowl first in Taunton against a Yorkshire side that includes Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow.

The hosts are second in the table, just one point behind leaders Warwickshire, but with the Bears not in action this week, Lewis Gregory's side will be eyeing top spot.

Somerset give a debut to Thomas Rew, brother of James Rew, who will hope to make a similar impact on the county game as his older sibling has done, but they are without the injured Tom Kohler Cadmore, Lewis Goldsworthy and Tom Banton.

Yorkshire are hoping to continue improving after a slow start to the season which has left them second bottom after three games in which they have lost once and drawn twice.

It will be a tough ask to win away at Somerset but they will take heart from a strong showing last week against Sussex when Fin Bean and Sam Whiteman scored centuries and Root fell for 96.

Whiteman misses this game with what the club call "a testicular issue" having been hit there last week.

  12. Hants look for boost against promoted Glamorganpublished at 10:55 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glamorgan (11:00 BST)

Despite looking up at the rest of the Division One contenders from 10th and last place Hants can console themselves that they have something the four teams above them do not: a win.

That victory, by 214 runs against Yorkshire at Leeds, sandwiched though it is by a big loss to Essex and a narrower one to Somerset leaves them well placed to make a significant jump up the table with another.

Standing in their way is a Glamorgan side who have drawn two of their three against Yorks and Leics (losing the other) on their return to the top flight for the first time since 2005.

The two previous times in the top flight (2001 and 2005) have been one hit wonders with relegation confirmed at the end of the season but in Kiran Carlson, Sean Dickson and highly-rated Asa Tribe they may have the tools to survive.

  13. Leicestershire aiming for first win against championspublished at 10:54 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts (11:00 BST)

Notts captain Haseeb HameedImage source, Getty Images

Defending champions Notts kept a marauding Warwickshire at bay in the third round of matches despite following-on and while the draw was not ideal the batting practice was.

Haseeb Hameed had been in poor nick so far this season but bounced back to his obdurate best with 115 in the second innings rearguard against the Bears.

Ben Duckett (93), Joe Clarke (82) and Kyle Verreynne (115) joined their captain in the runs as the draw played out.

A win over Glamorgan sandwiched between two draws has left Notts 11 points off the top of the table in third after three rounds while this weekend's opponents Leicestershire are seventh.

Leics were thumped in the opening round with Sussex romping to a 222 runs victory but have steadied the ship with draws against Surrey and Glamorgan.

A first win following their promotion would be a nice progression but it will not be easy against the current champions.

  14. England's Smith to keep wicket for Surreypublished at 10:52 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex (11:00 BST)

    Jamie SmithImage source, Getty Images

England international Jamie Smith will be Surrey's wicketkeeper in this contest after regular gloveman Ben Foakes picked up a soft tissue injury against Essex last week.

Smith has been in good form with the bat this season, with 401 runs including two centuries, and despite being England's Test wicketkeeper he rarely plays there for his county with Foakes the number one.

Surrey, who have drawn all three games this season, are also without Tom Lawes and Dan Worrall through injury, while England bowler Gus Atkinson is rested as part of his ECB central contract.

Sussex are also unbeaten this season after two wins and a draw in their opening three matches.

There were fears Tom Price would miss this one with an ankle injury sustained in last week's game against Yorkshire but he has been named in an unchanged 14-man squad.

The game with Yorkshire was a high-scoring affair that always looked destined for a draw, but there were some notable appearances from Sussex, including John Simpson who notched up 136.
