Bess lbw Gregory 0 (Somerset v Yorkshire 140-7)

From 140-4 to 140-7 in eight balls.

  5. 50 runs

    for ul-Hassanpublished at 14:19 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 133-1

An uncertain fend through the slip cordon races to the third man bounary and Zain-ul-Hassan has his fifth first-class half-century.

He has ridden his luck to get there in 115 balls given he was caught by Toby Albert in the cordon off Scott Currie on 29 only to be reprieved by a no-ball signal.

But other than that he has looked the part with no fewer than nine boundaries in his fifty (53).

WICKETpublished at 14:19 BST 1 May

    Bairstow c Rew b Overton 34 (Somerset v Yorkshire 140-5)

Jonny Bairstow departs, bowled by Craig Overton.

    And there's more...

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:16 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 158-7

Oooh dropped by Ollie Pope - he got a hand to it and it would have been a great catch but it goes through his hands and away to the boundary.

Sussex, and Fynn Hudson-Prentice in particular, have taken up a much more aggressive batting style and to be honest it is working for them at present.

It feels like they thought we might as well swing away and see how many we get and the current duo of Hudson-Prentice and Jack Carson have added almost 70 together now.

  8. 'Hudson-Prentice has played some terrific shots'published at 14:15 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 150-7

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

    Very well played, Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

He has played some terrific shots. He's played really well.

Worcestershire remain in bother at Northants. Ben Sanderson has picked up a couple more wickets after lunch and now has 4-37 - the Pears are 128-6.

Middlesex are going along well in the sunshine at Lord's on 111-1 - Sam Robson is unbeaten on 73.

Kent need a bit of a rebuild against Derbyshire after losing three quick wickets before lunch. They're 124-4 with Daniel Bell-Drummond and Ekansh Singh batting.

  10. 50 runs

for Fynn Hudson-Prenticepublished at 14:11 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 150-7

A quickfire 50 from Fynn Hudson-Prentice, coming in 49 balls.

It's taken him just 45 minutes either side of lunch, complete with seven fours and one six.

Sussex were 105-7 at lunch and these runs are extremely valuable - at one point earlier they were 92-7 and were really struggling.

Jack Carson is on 13 from 16 balls as Sussex fight back against Surrey.

  11. Postpublished at 14:08 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 156-1

Ian Holland has now been driven for three fours in consecutive balls by Ben Duckett – all three back past the bowler in his run up.

Another over goes for 13 and the Leics captain has been plundered for 31 in three overs since lunch.

It could be time to tell himself to take a blow.

  12. 'There's almost full cloud cover now'published at 14:06 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 107-1

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

We've got cloud cover which we didn't have at the start. Well, it's almost full cloud cover now.

I think there's a bit of rain forecast.

  13. 'Highly entertaining first session'published at 14:03 BST 1 May

    Surrey v Sussex 136-7

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

A combination of good bowling, a seamer friendly pitch, and some injudicious shots contributed to a highly entertaining first session at the Oval

The pitch is in complete contrast to the two previous games at the Oval this season, and unquestionably Sussex would have bowled first given the choice.

The visitors will hope the South London sunshine doesn't change the nature of the pitch, but they'll need to take a leaf out of Jordan Clark's book has has bowled beautifully, exploiting the conditions to the full and fully deserving his five-wicket haul

  14. Postpublished at 14:03 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 107-1

Sonny Baker goes round the wicket and fizzes one away from the outside edge of left-hander Zain-ul-Hassan. So close.

The hop-stepping quick has been the pick of the Hants attack and deserves a wicket.

  15. 'Root didn't quite get across to it'published at 14:01 BST 1 May

    Somerset v Yorkshire 124-4

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

You wouldn't say it was Lewis Gregory's greatest delivery, but it was just a delivery at around about fourth stump.

Joe [Root] has not quite got across to it fully with his front leg and that's caused him the problem. So, he's pushed at it just slightly away from his front pad.

He was playing well, but he's gone for 33 and at 124-4 with one player getting himself back in after lunch and another one now having to start in Matthew Revis, there's still an element of danger that they may not make a batting point here.

  16. Postpublished at 14:00 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 142-1

Not sure what Ian Holland had for lunch but it looks like he might have gone back for seconds as he has looked sluggish since the break.

His two since lunch have gone for nine apiece with three fours which has rather spoiled what were economical figures before of seven overs 0-27.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:55 BST 1 May

    Root b Gregory 33 (Somerset v Yorkshire 124-4)

Joe Root goes in the early exchanges after lunch, bowled by Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory for 33 from 57 balls.

Even the best players make the odd misjudgement but Root is slightly unfortunate too by the look if it.

He tries to block Gregory's ball but leaves a little too much space between bat and stumps and he plays on. The ball might have hit his pads on the way to dislodging the bails too.

  18. Postpublished at 13:55 BST 1 May

    Hants v Glam 100-1

A wide, bounced over the head of Kiran Carlson, from Sonny Baker brings up Glamorgan's 100 as the visitors continue on their merry way.

Not the start Hants wanted when they looked at the pitch and decided bowling was the best way forward.

  19. 'Foxes not bowling as well as they could'published at 13:54 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 133-1

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

It's been the same as this morning, really.

Leicestershire are not bowling perhaps as well as they could do in the circumstances and it does look very straightforward for top-quality batsmen like Ben Slater and Ben Duckett to tuck in.

It's already feeling almost like a case of how many.

  20. Postpublished at 13:53 BST 1 May

    Leics v Notts 133-1

Identical upright cover drives from Ben Slater sends consecutive boundaries to the rope off the bowling of Ian Holland.

While he is keeping the bowlers interested with some cavalier stuff outside off stump, he looks in the mood to turn a half-century (70) into three figures.
