It's been disappointing. Having been bowled out in the 33rd over is poor. England just fell into a heap and Australia ended up on top.

You can't take anything away from Mitchell Starc's innings, what a performance.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 32.5 overs

Mark Wood c Carey b Starc 0 (Eng 172 all out)

One ball later and the innings is all over.

Mark Wood balloons Mitchell Starc's delivery high in the air and it's an easy take for Alex Carey as the ball comes down.

England are bowled out after 197 balls, and Starc finishes with figures of 7-58 from 12.5 overs.

An away Ashes tour, eh? Great to be back.

It's one of those where we know what Jamie Smith is going to do, is there a way that he can play that into the ground. This is such a big ground, England are falling into a heap here and almost gifting the wickets to Australia.

This is turning into a very bad game of baseball for England, trying to hit homeruns. This has been a very ordinary batting effort from England, they're going down in a blaze of strokes.

  5. wicket

    Smith c Green b Starc 33 (Eng 172-9)

    Oh dear.

Jamie Smith smacks Mitchell Starc's first ball wide of long-on to reach the ropes.

Three balls later and the seamer has his revenge as Smith picks out Cameron Green at square.

This “effort” is truly pathetic. Nobody is taking any time to adjust to the bounce. We have such a strong batting line-up, but they’re all batting like idiots.

It was only a matter of time before that was going to happen, Doggett bowling those bouncers knowing that these English tailenders will take him on. Brilliant catch from Labuschagne

Brilliantly caught, second Test wicket for Doggett. Carse really did get a good bite at that but he has to go, great catch from Labuschagne.

    Carse c Labuschagne b Doggett 6 (Eng 168-8)

Not the shot I'd have played in the circumstances, Brydon.

The England seamer takes on Brendan Doggett's bouncer and finds Marnus Labuschagne off the ropes behind square.

Two balls earlier he'd worn one on his helmet as Doggett's delivery spat off the pitch, but he didn't fear taking on another short ball.

Perhaps he should have had a few concerns.

A Starc reminder that England's batting has been poor today.

It's edged, caught! Down goes the seventh, lovely low catch from Steve Smith. Atkinson lasted two balls, this is now beginning to look rather ugly for England.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30.1 overs

    Atkinson c Smith b Starc 1 (Eng 161-7)

It's a first five-fer of the series for Mitchell Starc and we're only in it's 31st over!

Gus Atkinson sends a thick edge into the cordon and Steve Smith swallows it up.

    Australia are all over England.
