England deserved those two wickets while Pakistan have done well to get runs on the board. A few streaky boundaries. It feels like it's even stevens.

  3. Pak 40-2published at 5 overs

Jofra Archer is still bowling brilliantly, but he sees his latest set go for 11 runs.

Pakistan are building steadily with Babar Azam hitting back-to-back fours at the back end of that fifth over, one swept towards deep mid-wicket and one tapped towards third man.

    Pakistan are 40-2.

This Jofra guy is pretty good isn’t he.

  6. Pak 29-2published at 4 overs

Babar Azam is the next batter to join opener Sahibzada Farhan at the crease.

Farhan moves to 15 off 9 with a couple of safe shots off Liam Dawson.

Pakistan need to start kicking on now...

A terrific bit of athleticism from Jamie Overton. It made a kind of clunky noise off the bat and held up a bit. Liam Dawson saw Salman Ali Agha advancing, who went through the shot but couldn't get the elevation or distance. That was a tremendous grab.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.3 overs

    Agha c Overton b Dawson 5 (Pak 27-2)

Liam Dawson takes another early wicket!

He dispatches Salman Ali Agha for just five runs.

It was a bit of an unnecessary punt down the ground from the Pakistan captain, who is clearly looking to make inroads in this powerplay, but it comes at a cost with Jamie Overton there at long-on to take an excellent diving catch.

Brilliant stuff from England early doors.

Jofra Archer has bowled 80% of his powerplay deliveries over 140kph - the highest of any bowler to bowl more than five overs in the phase

  10. Pak 23-1published at 3 overs

Jofra Archer is bowling some absolute crackers at the minute.

He grabs an important wicket and closes out his latest over for nine runs.

England could've grabbed another wicket through Phil Salt, who ran across to deep square leg in the hope of taking an ambitious catch, but Sahibzada Farhan's final shot of the over goes for a one-bounce four.

Saim Ayub has only been there seven balls but he did not look comfortable. He's tried to flick Jofra Archer and it's probably just got a little bit too close to him to pull and he's sort of tucked it round the corner.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.1 overs

    Ayub c Bethell b Archer 7 (Pak 14-1)

    Jofra Archer strikes early!

It's a cool as you like celebration from the right-arm fast bowler, who simply makes a 'C' shape with his hand.

Saim Ayub tries to play a shot away towards deep backward square leg but Jacob Bethell runs in to take a simple catch.

An important early wicket for England.

Jamie Overton hit 90mph in his opening over. You don't really think of him as someone who bowls that pace.

  14. Pak 14-0published at 2 overs

Pakistan get nine off Jamie Overton's opening over.

The right-arm fast bowler keeps things simple in the opening set, limiting Pakistan to just one boundary through Sahibzada Farhan.

Really looking forward to the match-up between Archer and the Pakistan openers on this pitch. Could prove to be a fascinating encounter!!

Jofra Archer will not mind the batters coming down the crease and trying to hit him. The ball is just doing a little bit.

  17. Pak 5-0published at 1 over

A handful of 'swing and miss' shots for Pakistan's openers in the opening over.

But Saim Ayub finds the right timing to hurl one towards deep backward point for a one-bounce four off the final ball of Jofra Archer's set.

  18. Pak 1-0published at 0.3 overs

Jofra Archer opens the bowling for England and he keeps things tight to begin with.

Sahibzada Farhan manages to get a shot off to deep cover point on the third ball for a single, but other than that it has been quiet on the Pakistan front so far.

Pakistan openers Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub will need to produce a statement stand in this second Super 8 Group 2 match.

They walk out to the middle, cheered on by some Pakistan fans in the stands at Pallekele.

Pakistan are so inconsistent and it's about installing winning habits, which head coach Mike Hesson is trying to do.

They have been more successful over the past 12 months and are playing a better style of cricket.

England are a better side, but it's a confidence thing with Pakistan.
