These two are playing like Travis Head and Nathan Lyon are bowling hand grenades.

    Target 435

The scoreboard moves for the first time in a couple of overs as Jamie Smith and Will Jacks take a single each from Nathan Lyon's over.

There will be time for one more over.

For me, the disappointing factor for this series is how uncompetitive it has been. I thought it may have been a close fight, but the fact it’s been a walkover is the point I’m most disappointed about. Congratulations Aussies.

  4. Eng 205-6published at 61 overs

    Target 435

Another maiden, this time from Travis Head.

Spin at both ends is really helping Australia's over rate, especially with both England batters now seeming content to try and see out the day.

Time for one, maybe two, more overs.

  5. Eng 205-6published at 60 overs

    Target 435

    Maiden over from Nathan Lyon.

He finds Jamie Smith's outside edge but the ball goes low and hits Alex Carey's pad.

    No chance of a catch.

Shame for England as they were doing alright.

Shame for Zak Crawley as he showed spirit, application and nous. He played really well.

    Eng 205-6

Nothing on Snicko and no controversy this time, there is a gap between bat and ball.

Australia lose a review. I doubt it'll cost them.

Big appeal for caught behind from Travis Head as the ball fizzes just past Will Jacks' outside edge.

The umpire is unmoved, Jacks doesn't look worried but Pat Cummins calls for the review.

200 runs for England, and not even halfway...

  10. Eng 203-6published at 58.1 overs

    Target 435

Thumped down the ground for four by Will Jacks.

That's the 200 up for England.

It is about bossing the game, and England have not been in a position to boss the game.

  12. Eng 199-6published at 58 overs

    Target 435

Excitement from the fielders around the bat as the ball loops up off Will Jacks' pad.

Was there a bit of inside edge on it? Perhaps but it lands safely regardless.

Jacks then sweeps for a single before Jamie Smith, who seems intent on being there for the start of day five, blocks the last two.

  13. Eng 198-6published at 57 overs

    Target 435

    Not quite yet, Steven...

But Jamie Smith, who is yet to get after the mark after 16 balls, plays out a maiden from Travis Head to edge them a bit closer.

Well, at least we've got to day five. Something I didn't expect to be saying.

  15. Eng 198-6published at 56 overs

    Target 435

Will Jacks doesn't want to just let Nathan Lyon bowl at him but nearly gets himself in trouble looking to get after him.

He gets hold of this reverse sweep, though, and the ball races away for four.

  16. Eng 194-6published at 55 overs

    Target 435

Maiden over from Scott Boland with Jamie Smith given absolutely nothing to work with.

We've got about 20 minutes left in the day.

It’s great that England are showing some guile, but we needed more from the top order. This series is not about England's faults. It’s about Australia being better in all departments.

    James, Monmouth

Australia are just far better in every department I'm afraid. Congratulations Australia!

    Rob, Southampton

  18. Eng 194-6published at 54 overs

    Target 435

England played Nathan Lyon so well for so much of this innings but one wicket and suddenly he's causing them problems.

Three wickets for the off-spinner now and it is left to Will Jacks and Jamie Smith to try and pull off a miracle.

That was a very good piece of bowling from Nathan Lyon. I thought he would be the key today.

England have played him well up to the last 45 minutes or so. You have to feel for Zak Crawley - he has batted well.

Unfortunately for him, he was caught stranded. Alex Carey has done nothing wrong behind the stumps all series. Absolute masterclass.

The final nail is going into the coffin. What can Jamie Smith and Will Jacks do?
