Have your say on England women this summer

  1. NZ 90-2published at 22 overs

    Charlie Dean, shades on, continues.

There's a bit of flight offered up by Dean but neither Amelia Kerr nor Maddy Green take their bait and are content to nudge it into the gaps.

    Three singles off the over.

It's a challenging wicket today. It's a bit of a mind mess up for the batters.

  3. NZ 87-2published at 21 overs

England's body language in the field seems cheery enough between deliveries.

Lauren Filer falls over on her follow through attempting to generate a little bit of extra pace. Amelia Kerr and Maddy Green fairly stoic.

Just a single off the over. She has 1-20 off five.

    Thanks, Matthew.

Lauren Filer is brought back into the attack as England seek another wicket.

  5. NZ 86-2published at 20 overs

    Kerr 32, Green 21

Charlie Dean is bowling well here in her first match as captain. Two overs in and she's giving it a rip with some nice flight.

There's half an appeal for lbw in this over but nothing doing.

Time for me to hand to Timothy Abraham...

  6. NZ 84-2published at 19 overs

Dani Gibson drifts down the leg side and a slight flick off Maddy Green's pads is enough to beat wicketkeeper Amy Jones. That's four more, albeit extras.

Rusty is how I'd describe England so far.

  7. NZ 79-2published at 18 overs

Another misfield and it's Maia Bouchier again. She dropped the catch earlier.

This time she's at mid-on and can't decide whether to go for the catch or stop the ball on the bounce. In the end she ends up doing neither.

After a quick drink, stand-in skipper Charlie Dean is bringing herself on for the first time today.

New Zealand currently have their two in-form batters in the crease.

In the six ODIs at home earlier this year across the two series (v Zimbabwe and South Africa) - Maddy Green with 427 runs at 106.8 average, 103 strike rate was the highest run-scorer, with Melie Kerr the second highest run-scorer - 355 runs at 71 average and 98 strike rate.

  10. NZ 73-2published at 17 overs

    Ah this is unlucky.

Freya Kemp, with a bit of making up to do after two misfields earlier on, sprawls on the boundary and gets a good chunk of the ball as she attempts to pat it back.

It's a decent effort but the ball still runs on into the boundary sponge. That's Maddy Green's first boundary.

Here's that special moment from a few overs ago - Tilly Corteen-Coleman's first international wicket...

I've been impressed with Tilly Corteen-Coleman for quite a while. She's someone who can keep repeating like a bowling machine.

  13. NZ 64-2published at 16 overs

Tilly Corteen-Coleman is wearing one of those tube sleeves on her bowling arm. If nothing else, it's good to be able to easily identify her from a distance.

She continues to go well, offering few loose deliveries on a pitch offering little more than a touch of spin.

The pitch isn't rapid but Lauren Filer has made it look quick at times.

I wouldn't say either side is in charge but England have kept it quite tight.

  15. NZ 61-2published at 15 overs

Gibson, with plenty of oomph through the crease, continues to decent effect. There's a wide in this over but otherwise things are tight.

Gibson will be a massive part of England's World Cup challenge and has been in good batting form domestically.

  16. NZ 57-2published at 14 overs

    Good from Melie Kerr.

This is the exact shot Georgia Plimmer tried to play to Tilly Corteen-Coleman when she was dismissed. Kerr gets a full piece of it to nail a shot over mid-off for four.

That's the first boundary TCC has conceded.

  17. NZ 48-2published at 13 overs

All-rounder Dani Gibson enters the attack for the first time and concedes only three in her first over of seam. It feels strange that this is her ODI debut. She's been around for ages.

That wicket for England's teenager should lift the mood after an iffy few minutes for England beforehand...

What a fantastic moment for Tilly there, nothing like your first wicket.

From a New Zealand perspective, I'm not sure Georgia Plimmer needed to do that right then.

  20. wicket

    Plimmer c Bell b Corteen-Coleman 20 (NZ 42-2)

A first England wicket for Tilly Corteen-Coleman! The 18-year-old is absolutely delighted. She's running away to celebrate with a beaming smile.

She tempts Georgia Plimmer into charging down but the right-hander fails to get to the pitch. The ball loops to mid-off where Lauren Bell holds onto this catch.
