As spin bowlers for New Zealand, you're looking at this only getting slower and lower.

Someone like Nensi Patel, she's not played in England but in these conditions she'll be champing at the bit to get out there.

  2. NZ 194-5published at 44 overs

Maddy Green hammers Tilly Corteen-Coleman across the line for four. There's a quick check to see if was a six, but it fell just short of the boundary sponge.

Later in the over TCC spins one past the outside edge of Izzy Sharp's bat.

    Six overs to go.

Izzy Sharp is a big hitter of the ball. It's really exciting to see her over here and see what she can do. She can bat longer if she needs to but this really suits her game to finish off the game with some real power.

  4. NZ 186-5published at 43 overs

Izzy Sharp is the new batter. She picks up a couple of singles to get herself up and running fairly quickly.

    Three runs off the over.

A great day to be a debutant here!

    WICKETpublished at 42.1 overs

    Gaze c Jones b Gibson 11 (NZ 183-4)

Izzy Gaze attempts to cut Dani Gibson fine but ends up nicking it through to wicketkeeper Amy Jones, stood up to the stumps.

Handy wicket for England to take.

  7. NZ 182-4published at 42 overs

Short from Lauren Filer and Izzy Gaze top edges a hook which flies skywards down towards deep mid-wicket.

Freya Kemp dashes in from the boundary but cannot get there in time. Possibly a half chance?

    Four runs off Filer's over.

  8. NZ 178-4published at 41 overs

Maddy Green ramps Dani Gibson for four at the start of the over. Premeditated but effective from the Kiwi batter who seems determined to make her contribution count.

Gibson tightens up. Three more singles off the over.

  9. NZ 171-4published at 40 overs

Lauren Filer tumbles over on her follow through attempting to stick out a foot to prevent a punched drive from Izzy Gaze.

It beats Filer's boot and neither mid-off or mid-on are able to catch the ball as it races away for four runs.

A wide, four and a load of dots in that over.

  10. NZ 166-4published at 39 overs

Jodi Grewcock's lack of bounce off the pitch proving tricky to get away

She gets one to pea roll to Izzy Gaze which the Kiwi batter has to dig out and she looks at Maddy Green with a perplexed expression.

  11. NZ 163-4published at 38 overs

A crisp and classical drive from Maddy Green off Charlie Dean which skims through the covers for four.

    Exquisite timing.

That's a big wicket for England because Brooke Halliday can be annoying!

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 37.1 overs

    Halliday lbw b Dean 6

Straightened sufficiently! Three reds on DRS and Brooke Halliday is sent packing.

Amy Jones thought it was going down, and the appeal was half-hearted at best, but Charlie Dean was right to go for the review.

  14. England reviewpublished at 37.1 overs

Charlie Dean fizzes one full which spits into the pad of Brooke Halliday.

At the last moment Dean reviews it.

Has this turned enough to get the left-handed Halliday?

  15. NZ 158-3published at 37 overs

I suppose it's the distinction between professional athletes and us mere mortals.

If the criticism is constructive then it's fair enough for well-paid international cricketers, in my book.

Jodi Grewcock with another fairly tidy over. She has 1-12 from five overs.

Can we possibly stop being quite so negative and realise that everyone makes mistakes, certainly not intentionally and not everyone is good at fielding and need positive advice not endless fault finding.

    David, Selby

  17. NZ 155-3published at 36 overs

Lauren Bell into the attack and she attempts a few short balls. Curious approach on a slow-ish pitch.

Brooke Halliday is the new batter for the White Ferns and is off the mark quickly.

She and Maddy Green pick up three singles apiece off the over.

English cricket seems to be in a real hole of saying the right things and not delivering. The men’s team with application with the bat and the women’s team in the field. Not good enough at this level.

    Jack, Burton

  19. NZ 149-3published at 35 overs

Jodi Grewcock's all sorts leggies are awkward. More for the pace and variety than anything else.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:19 BST 10 May

    Kerr c Bell b Grewcock 55 (NZ 147-3)

In addition to drinks there's a bag of sweets from a well-known brand aimed at kids brought out for New Zealand's batters.

Perhaps that sugar rush went to Amelia Kerr's head as she whacks a full toss from Jodi Grewcock into the hands of Lauren Bell at mid-off.

Grewcock's first international wicket. That will taste, erm, sweet.
