  1. Tea at Sophia Gardenspublished at 16:06 BST 9 May

    Glamorgan 190-8 v Somerset 354

Four wickets lost before lunch, four wickets lost after, and Glamorgan return to the dressing room firmly up against it in this one.

Sean Dickson, Ben Kellaway, Chris Cooke and Mason Crane have all fallen as Somerset have built a commanding first innings advantage.

The follow-on isn't out of the question, either, especially if the visitors can rattle off these final two wickets soon.

  2. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:05 BST 9 May

    Notts 415 v Surrey 119-1

A good session for Surrey, who have trimmed 119 runs off the deficit to Nottinghamshire's first-innings total of 415 with skipper Rory Burns the only wicket to fall.

Dom Sibley is 55 not out, with Jamie Smith beginning to get into his stride on 29.

  3. Batting bonus point for Essexpublished at 16:05 BST 9 May

    Essex 250-9 v Hants 235

A 58-run partnership between Simon Harmer and Jamie Porter have knocked off the deficit and now has notched a batting bonus point.

You could have got decent odds on that when Shane Snater went at 192-9.

  4. Somerset re-apply grip against Glamorganpublished at 16:03 BST 9 May

    Glamorgan 189-8 v Somerset 354

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

It’s been a productive afternoon for Somerset’s bowlers as Glamorgan struggled to recover from an early slump to 59-4 at one stage and inched towards the follow-on target of 205.

South African Migael Pretorius claimed his third when he bowled former Somerset team-mate Sean Dickson, but that brought about Glamorgan’s only significant stand so far between Ben Kellaway (59) and Chris Cooke (39).

Kellaway recaptured his batting form of the first round before he got injured, driving stylishly before playing on in the second over delivered by England spinner Jack Leach.

Somerset’s seamers have so far out-bowled Glamorgan, and look set to take a big first-innings lead even if they do not enforce a possible follow-on.

  5. Tea at Hovepublished at 16:02 BST 9 May

    Sussex 275-5 v Leics 328

Sussex are chipping away at this Leics total and will trail the Foxes by 53 runs with five first innings wickets in tact.

Daniel Hughes (136) and Jack Leaning (50) may be disappointed with their dismissals which were tame.

But their 178 partnership for the third wicket has done plenty to get Sussex within sight of a lead in this match.

  6. Postpublished at 16:02 BST 9 May

    Lancs 201 v Middlesex 117-5

And, for the first time since around 12:15pm, we have cricket at Old Trafford!

Jimmy Anderson resumes the attack for Lancashire, conceding a single to Leus du Plooy from his first over - and, if the weather holds, we will have 37 more today.

  7. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:57 BST 9 May

    Warwickshire 147 & 142-1 v Yorkshire 152 - Warwicks lead by 137 runs

A good session for Warwickshire who have added 135 for the loss of one wicket.

That one dismissal was Alex Davies who made 38 before a leading edge was caught by Fin Bean.

But Rob Yates has scored an unbeaten 80, alongside Dan Mousley on 16 as the Bears continue to build their lead.

Dom Sibley rocks onto the back foot and steers Olly Stone to the point boundary to bring up his half-century from 116 balls as we approach the tea interval.

Be warned, Nottinghamshire - it's the third consecutive game in which Sibley has passed 50 and both of the previous ones, against Essex and Sussex, were turned into hundreds.

Simon Harmer has 35 first class half centuries

Simon Harmer nudges Codi Yusuf off his legs for two runs and he has his half century (51).

it has been an excellent innings from the South African spinner who has made best use of his luck to help knock off the deficit.

Harmer was dropped on 13 in the slips and caught off a no ball on 29.

This is his 35th first class half century.

  10. Division Two updatepublished at 15:48 BST 9 May

Durham have moved to 55-2 as they respond to Worcestershire's 308, Alex Lees and Ben McKinney have gone and we're getting nearer to seeing Ben Stokes out in the middle for the first time in 2026.

It's tea in Derby, and the hosts have already taken an early Northants wicket, Ben Aitchison removing Ricardo Vasconcelos for 0. The visitors are currently 588 behind following the Derbyshire declaration.

Tawanda Muyeye is edging towards three figures as he continues to help Kent chase Gloucestershire's 325. The visiting side have 206 on the board and have lost five wickets so far in Bristol.

  12. Restart at Old Trafford at 16:00 BSTpublished at 15:43 BST 9 May

    Lancs 201 v Middlesex 116-5

The sky has a lighter hue, the covers are currently being removed and the plan is for play to restart at 16:00 BST.

Mind you, we said something similar around an hour and quarter ago, so keep everything crossed...

  13. Postpublished at 15:37 BST 9 May

    Essex 226-9 v Hants 235

Essex have reduced the deficit to single figures largely thanks to mistakes in the field from Hants and some belligerent batting from Simon Harmer.

Harmer and Jamie Porter have put on 34 for the last wicket but the former has been dropped once and caught off a no ball.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:34 BST 9 May

    Crane c Rew b Ball 2 (Glamorgan 185-8 v Somerset 354)

A slightly controversial call this, but probably not one that will change the outcome and momentum of this day.

Mason Crane swings at one going across the leg side from Jake Ball, James Rew collects and the umpire's finger goes up.

Crane walks back to the dressing room somewhat frustrated, and Somerset are building a healthy first innings advantage in Cardiff.

  15. 50 runs

50 partnership for Sibley and Smithpublished at 15:32 BST 9 May

    Notts 415 v Surrey 91-1

Another profitable leg-side stroke from Dom Sibley brings him three off Lyndon James and raises the 50 partnership with Jamie Smith.

This Surrey pair have settled into the groove now and you wouldn't bet against a big score for one or both of them.

From 196-2 Sussex have slipped a bit with three wickets for 49 runs.

Simon Harmer is making best use of his life when he was caught off a no ball on 29 off Codi Yusuf.

The Hants bowler has to take evasive action as Harmer bullets the ball back at him and now he lifts another effortlessly back over the stumps for four.

  20. Postpublished at 15:21 BST 9 May

    Sussex 239-4 v Leics 328

Big hit from John Simpson who moved to 13 off nine balls with a six back over the bowler's head.

Ajaz Patel turns to watch it sail into the distance.

It appears to have done permanent and career ending injury to the ball which is being replaced with a suitably 59 overs old version from the box.
