  1. Stokes o'clockpublished at 16:48 BST 9 May

    Worcestershire 308 v Durham 90-3

Ben Stokes is back in the middle of a cricket pitch! He takes to the crease with Durham 90-3 and 218 runs behind Worcestershire at New Road.

Emilio Gay, another of those in the mix for an England opener spot after some fine form this season, ends his innings disappointingly on 28 today, and he's replaced by the England captain.

  2. 50 runs

50 for John Simpsonpublished at 16:48 BST 9 May

    Sussex 320-5 v Leics 328

John Simpson runs through for a single off Ajaz Patel and reaches his half century.

It has taken 58 balls with six fours and a six.

  3. Stokes comes in to batpublished at 16:48 BST 9 May

    Worcs 308 v Durham 90-3

    Stephan Shemilt
BBC Sport cricket correspondent at New Road

Ben Stokes was carded to bat at number seven, instead the England captain has emerged at number five. As Jim Ross would say, business has just picked up.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:48 BST 9 May

    Smith c Duckett b Tongue 37 (Notts 415 v Surrey 131-2)

Two England colleagues combine to remove a third!

Josh Tongue digs one in short at Jamie Smith, who can only try and fend it off and the ball loops into the hands of Ben Duckett at backward square leg.

Nottinghamshire needed that wicket. Ryan Patel is next in for the visitors.

  5. 150 runs

150 up for Middlesexpublished at 16:46 BST 9 May

    Lancs 201 v Middlesex 154-7

Sebastian Morgan may be almost a quarter of a century younger than Jimmy Anderson, but he's handled the Lancashire captain pretty well so far.

Morgan is helping Leus du Plooy to add crucial runs here as Middlesex look to narrow the deficit further - or even, from an optimistic perspective, take a first-innings lead.

  6. Postpublished at 16:44 BST 9 May

    Sussex 306-5 v Leics 328

Sussex have put the hammer down in the last couple of overs with eight off Tom Scriven and now 12 off Ajaz Patel. The deficit is 22 runs.

  7. Postpublished at 16:43 BST 9 May

    Glamorgan 205-8 v Somerset 354

It's been slow progress, but Glamorgan do get themselves to a position where they won't be asked to follow on.

Either way, Somerset are looking good for a third win from five games to open their campaign.

  8. Postpublished at 16:39 BST 9 May

    Glamorgan 200-8 v Somerset 354

A first boundary in County Championship cricket for Tom Norton, to go with his three wickets with the ball yesterday.

It helps the Welsh county to 200, but it would take some effort to get to the 250 bonus-point mark.

  9. Postpublished at 16:36 BST 9 May

    Notts 415 v Surrey 125-1

Nottinghamshire are going with a seam-spin combination after tea, with Liam Patterson-White's left-arm slow deliveries complementing Josh Tongue as they search for this second Surrey wicket.

No joy for the bowlers so far as Dom Sibley advances to 57 and Jamie Smith has 33.

  10. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:32 BST 9 May

    Essex 273 v Hants 235

Tea which was delayed as Hants looked for that last wicket will now be taken.

  11. wicket

ESSEX 273 ALL OUTpublished at 16:29 BST 9 May

    Porter b Fuller 12 (Essex 273 V Hants 235)

Fivefer for James Fuller (5-43) as he takes the final wicket, jagging one back sharply to knock back Jamie Porter's middle stump.

Simon Harmer walks off to generous applause unbeaten on 80 and Essex lead by 38 runs at the halfway mark.

The last wicket partnership added 81, a bonus batting point and has kept the Hants openers in the field for over an hour and a half longer then they would have hoped.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Leus du Plooypublished at 16:28 BST 9 May

    Lancs 201 v Middlesex 138-7

Successive fours off Jimmy Anderson take Leus du Plooy to a well deserved half-century from 69 balls.

This is very much what you'd call a captain's knock by the Middlesex left-hander.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:26 BST 9 May

    Yates c Brook b White 81 (Warwickshire 147 & 148-2 v Yorkshire 152)

    Edged and gone...

Rob Yates falls soon after the tea interval to give Yorkshire their second wicket.

Jack White took four wickets in the first innings and is up and running in the second now.

The Bears have scored more than they did in their first innings and are eight wickets better off too.

  14. Postpublished at 16:23 BST 9 May

    Sussex 283-5 v Leics 328

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

150 runs and three wickets in a session that saw Daniel Hughes through to his first century of the season an innings full of shots all round the wicket.

But the visitors have plugged away and the three wickets have all come from indifferent shots in particular James Coles and Jack Leaning who will both be disappointed with their dismissals.

However John Simpson looks in fluent form at tea and provided Sussex can survive the new ball which is due in 11 overs they should be on course for a decent first innings lead

  15. Postpublished at 16:22 BST 9 May

    Essex 269-9 v Hants 235

This is good from Simon Harmer and Jamie Porter but it is equally poor from Hants bowlers.

Drops, no balls, misfields and now a boundary whipped through cover from Harmer off Codi Yusuf.

Harmer has 80 and Porter 8 with this pair having batted for over an hour and a half since Shane Snater made his exit.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 16:20 BST 9 May

    #bbccricket

Tawanda Muyeye's stubborn defences have finally been broken in Bristol, his knock of 90 helping Kent to 209-6 as they chase Gloucestershire's 325.

Durham's attempt to get to Worcestershire's 308 tally has seen them lose two early wickets before tea - they're 75-2.

And in Derby, Derbyshire's bowlers doing damage in the same way their batsman did for a day and a half, and they have Northants at 37-2, meaning a lead of 567 for the hosts at the moment.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:16 BST 9 May

    Zafar Gohar c Stanley b Bailey 4 (Lancs 201 v Middlesex 124-7)

If it isn't raining, the wickets keep tumbling...

Zafar Gohar flicks Tom Bailey off his pads straight to midwicket, where Mitch Stanley dives to take the catch.

Lancashire are looking good for a significant first-innings lead unless Leus du Plooy and the Middlesex tail can turn this around.

  18. Delayed tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:10 BST 9 May

    Essex 259-9 v Hants 235

There will be another half an hour or eight overs as Hants try to take the last wicket and draw a line under Essex's innings.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:10 BST 9 May

    Duke c Hurst b Anderson 3 (Lancs 201 v Middlesex 119-6)

Looks as though Jimmy Anderson enjoyed his rest...

Harry Duke tries to cut and can only edge it through to Matty Hurst - so Middlesex are six down and Anderson has four of them.

Zafar Gohar is the new man at the crease.
