  1. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:20 BST 15 May

    Yorkshire 68-2 v Surrey

Sean Abbott is around the wicket to Adam Lyth in a real battle between bat and ball.

With the penultimate ball of Abbott's fourth over, Lyth (31*) edges one to Ryan Patel at third slip and this really should be taken but Patel drops at the final moment after it initially looked like he had taken the catch - that really had to stick!

With the first ball of the next over, Root punches a short, wide delivery outside off stump off his back foot to the boundary past point for four.

    Essex v Leics 106-1

We've only had 18 overs at Chelmsford but already we are going to see some spin.

Jake Weatherald takes his life in his hands by going right back onto his stumps to Simon Harmer but his defence is solid on this occasion and he picks up a single from the next.

Sol Budinger isn't going to curb his approach and flays the ball over the off-side for six to reach 50 off just 54 faced - his second of the season.

  3. Postpublished at 12:16 BST 15 May

    Gloucs 20-4 v Northants

Four slips and a short leg in for Conway and Ollie Price is carefully forward to defend.

The fifth ball is driven but not quite out of the middle and the ball squirts safely into the on side.

Runs here though, whipped away to fine leg for one.

10 overs bowled and as that was a short delay, no overs lost in the day's play at this point.

  4. Postpublished at 12:16 BST 15 May

    Glamorgan 47-2 v Warwickshire

Ben Kellaway has just struck successive boundaries off the bowling of Warwickshire all-rounder Jordan Thompson - the first was an assured drive which beat the extra cover fielder, whose dive was to no avail.

The second was more fortuitous. Thompson found a leading edge but the ball squirts past the cordon and up to the third man boundary.

Glamorgan pair Kellaway and Kiran Carlson have been gutsy since coming to the crease early doors.

  5. Back on in Bristolpublished at 12:13 BST 15 May

    Gloucs 19-4 v Northants

Harry Conway has four balls left to bowl in this over.

    Ollie Price on strike...

  6. Postpublished at 12:13 BST 15 May

    Somerset 64-2 v Sussex

Leg side from Crocombe and Rew shovels the ball away fine for four.

Or does he? No - leg byes.

A single off the fifth ball, pushed into the off side.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:13 BST 15 May

    Crawley c Potts b Stokes 30 (Kent 61-1 v Durham)

Zak Crawley drives again but this time doesn't get over the top of it and Matthew Potts takes a stinging catch at cover.

First wicket of the match for England captain Ben Stokes - and it's his ex-Test teammate as well.

  8. Postpublished at 12:12 BST 15 May

    Essex v Leics 94-1

    Sol Budinger very confident now.

He dabs Shane Snater to third man for four and then comes down the pitch to the next one - his attempted off-drive is unconvincing but the ball disappears in the same direction as the previous one.

Budinger moves to 44 not out.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:12 BST 15 May

    Roderick c Jennings b Balderson 1 (Lancs v Worcs 63-2)

One brings two and it's a carbon copy of the first!

This time its George Balderson at the other end who gets Gareth Roderick to play at one outside the line of off stump.

Keaton Jennings makes his second catch in as many overs at first slip. Good comeback from Lancashire in the last five minutes and their tails are now up.

  10. Postpublished at 12:11 BST 15 May

    Somerset 59-2 v Sussex

Tom Lammonby aims a muscular drive through cover off Tom Haines but that's a good stop by Sussex skipper Ollie Robinson.

Henry Crocombe strikes James Rew on the pad but it's not out.

Rew is forward and just outside the line.

  11. Postpublished at 12:10 BST 15 May

    Kent 61-0 v Durham

    Glorious from Zak Crawley.

Ben Stokes is too full and Crawley hits it so straight it only just misses the stumps at the bowler's end on the way to the boundary, the sixth of his innings.

  12. Covers are off at Bristolpublished at 12:08 BST 15 May

    Gloucs 19-4 v Northants

But no players at this point...

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:07 BST 15 May

    Geddes c Came b Andersson 18 (Middx 47-1 v Derbys)

Ben Geddes is disgusted with himself.

Ben Aitchison sends down a rank long hop and the Middlesex opener carves a catch straight to cover, with one hand coming off the bat as he plays the shot.

  14. Postpublished at 12:07 BST 15 May

    Somerset 59-2 v Sussex

Henry Crocombe is round the wicket to James Rew, who leaves the ball outside off.

Rew is up on his toes to steer a shorter ball to backward point but there's no run.

He ducks out of the way of another short ball to see out the over.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:07 BST 15 May

    Libby c Jennings b Anderson 21 (Lancs v Worcs 62-1)

Lancashire find the breakthrough and it's who else but James Anderson.

Jake Libby is caught on the drive and can only find the outside edge as the ball goes safely through to Keaton Jennings at first slip who makes a nice grab.

The hosts needed that after a difficult opening hour in the field.

  16. 50 runs

50 up for Yorkshirepublished at 12:05 BST 15 May

    Yorkshire 52-2 v Surrey

A slightly streaky boundary from Joe Root - this time down to third man past the slip cordon - sees him move onto 12* as Yorkshire move past 50.

Root played with soft hands though so you suspect there was a little bit of methodology there as well.

  17. Postpublished at 12:05 BST 15 May

    Essex v Leics 86-1

Confident appeal from Jamie Porter as Jake Weatherald plays around a straight one and is struck on the pad. Looked a very good shout but the umpire is not convinced. Weatherald is 36 not out.

  18. Postpublished at 12:03 BST 15 May

    Kent 56-0 v Durham

More punishment for Ben Stokes as Ben Dawkins whistles one through point for four. The young Kent opener wasn't fully in control of that one but it found the gap, so he won't care.

  19. Postpublished at 12:03 BST 15 May

    Somerset 57-2 v Sussex

Henry Crocombe is too leg side to Tom Lammonby, who goes back and pulls to backward square for four.

We have a decent crowd in at Taunton (north of 2000) as James Rew tucks Tom Haines round the corner for a single.

Solid defending down the ground from Tom Lammonby.

Honours will be just about even if Somerset can get through this hour just the two down on a green-looking surface.

  20. 50 up for Kentpublished at 12:01 BST 15 May

    Kent 51-0 v Durham

Kent pass 50 in the 15th over as Zak Crawley drives Ben Stokes to extra cover for four. Wonder what thought flashed into the England skipper's mind at that moment. That was Crawley at his best.
