  1. SCORES LEVEL AT HOVEpublished at 12:43 BST 13 April

    Sussex 327-5 v Warwickshire - target 328

Ed Barnard is the next man to nearly be hit for a triplet of fours off consecutive balls, but the third is just short of the boundary so two.

The best of the lot is off the following ball though, a stunning straight drive for four.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Jamie Smithpublished at 12:40 BST 13 April

    Surrey 520 & 81-1 v Leics 691 - Surrey trail by 90 runs

Jamie Smith raises his bat for Surrey against LeicsImage source, Shutterstock

Normal service has been resumed since Surrey fell to 0-1.

Very much seems to be a game for the batters at The Oval.

Jamie Smith moves past 50 - and after scoring 166 in the first innings... slightly ominous for Leicestershire.

Barring something remarkable, we're probably heading for a draw here.

  3. Postpublished at 12:40 BST 13 April

    Sussex 313-5 v Warwickshire - target 328

Finishing with a hurry now are Sussex, and to be frank the Bears are quite happy for them to do so now having gone this far.

Michael Booth is still steaming in, but like when Tom Abell hit that match-winning hundred for Somerset on day four against Warwickshire at Taunton last year, the quicker he bowls, the more frustrated and desperate he gets, the more runs fly to the boundary.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:36 BST 13 April

    Cooke lbw b James 19 (Notts v Glamorgan 185-6 - target 478)

Lyndon James bowling for NottsImage source, Shutterstock

The Nottinghamshire sub takes a wicket... has that ever happened before for the Trent Bridge side?

Chris Cooke tries to pull one into the legside but gets it wrong and Lyndon James catches him on the pads in front.

Up goes the finger and Notts are within four wickets of victory.

  5. 300 runs

444 brings 300 up for Sussexpublished at 12:35 BST 13 April

    Sussex 306-5 v Warwickshire - target 328

Warwickshire almost throwing the towel in now.

Three overpitched half-volleys outside off from Ethan Bamber, so often the leader of his still newish county's attack, smoked for four by Jack Leaning.

  6. Lunch in Canterburypublished at 12:34 BST 13 April

    Kent 178 & 231-5 v Northants 684-2 dec

An early lunch has been called at Canterbury, so that if and when it stops raining, we lose less cricket.

Ben Compton will lunch one shy of an excellent rearguard hundred.

  7. Postpublished at 12:33 BST 13 April

    Notts v Glamorgan 185-5 - target 478

And another sub enters the field. A 13th man? Conor McKerr is on for Notts now.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Tom Pricepublished at 12:32 BST 13 April

    Sussex 294-5 v Warwickshire - target 328

Another three to Tom Price as Michael Booth uses his boot to save one.

He scored 73 at Grace Road last week, in this knock he has hit six fours, just over two-and-a-half hours spent at the crease, what a partnership this is.

112 balls faced for his 52*, Sussex should wrap this up by lunch now and get an afternoon round of golf in if that is their want!

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:32 BST 13 April

    Montgomery c Jones b Coughlin 12 (Derbys 33-2 – Target 138)

Matt Montgomery is reaching for a drive but with no foot movement and the edge flies to Michael Jones who takes the catch at first slip.

Lancs have a second and Paul Coughlin five wickets for the match.

James bowling to Dickson - sub to sub!

    Steve, Bucks

Understand the need for subs but questions are being raised. Are we to believe that in prior seasons so many players were finishing games with injuries that now warrant them being swapped out?

    Alywn - Crumlin, Wales

It's certainly a debate that will likely rumble on and on...

A player appearing in the fourth innings of a game as a sub like Archie Vaughan for Somerset or Lyndon James for Notts will take a bit of getting used to for many cricket fans.

  11. rain stops play

Rain stops play in Canterburypublished at 12:27 BST 13 April

    Kent 178 & 231-5 v Northants 684-2 dec

Something in liquid form is coming down from the sky and the players are going off.

Delight for Kent. Disappointment for Northants.

Ben Compton heads inside on 99 not out.

  12. Postpublished at 12:27 BST 13 April

    Surrey 520 & 71-1 v Leics 691 - Surrey trail by 100 runs

Jamie Smith... a man in great nick.

Ajaz Patel ever so slightly over-pitches and Smith slaps it back past him and down the ground for four.

  13. Postpublished at 12:27 BST 13 April

    Derbys 30-1 – Target 138

Edge and four for Derbys as Harry Came flashes hard at a full-pitched delivery from Mitch Stanley, flying through a large gap between second slip and gully.

Came survives a big shout for lbw which is turned down possibly on impact being slightly outside off stump. A very close call that.

Now Matt Montgomery edges through the same gap, again for four, to finish a frustrating over for Lancs.

  14. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 12:26 BST 13 April

    Kent 178 & 230-5 v Northants 684-2 dec

This surely has to be the bedrock of any Kent hopes and Daniel Bell-Drummond and Ben Compton have started in the right manner and Compton deflects a James Sales delivery into the legside.

Two more runs and this stand receives polite applause as it touches 51.

Compton is two shy of a century.

  15. 100 runs

100 partnership between the home debutantspublished at 12:24 BST 13 April

    Sussex 286-5 v Warwickshire - target 328

101 runs off 226 balls in nearly 150 minutes batting together for Jack Leaning and Tom Price.

Price edges a drive off Chris Woakes past Alex Davies for four to go to 46* off 106 balls.

  16. Postpublished at 12:24 BST 13 April

    Notts v Glamorgan 179-5 - target 478

Chris Cooke with a good comeback to those Josh Tongue bouncers as he punches a half-volley for four through extra cover.

    Good battle, this.

  17. Postpublished at 12:23 BST 13 April

    Surrey 520 & 64-1 v Leics 691 - Surrey trail by 107 runs

Jamie Smith on the attack for Surrey.

He smashes Ben Green down the ground with a perfectly straight bat as it races for four.

A third four of the over and Smith is onto 40 from 53 balls.

  18. Postpublished at 12:22 BST 13 April

    Notts v Glamorgan 175-5 - target 478

Ouch, this is a sore one for Chris Cooke. He's trying to style it out but it must have hurt.

Josh Tongue bangs one in short and Cooke tries to take evasive action but it strikes him in the chest.

The Glamorgan man grits his teeth and is fine to go on. Next ball? Short and fast again. This time Cooke ducks under it.

  19. new ball

New ballpublished at 12:19 BST 13 April

    Sussex 279-5 v Warwickshire - target 328

    Last chance saloon for Warwickshire.

Of course the hard new ball often makes runs flow more easily off the bat too.

Chris Woakes had a one-over rest, but is back for the denouement of this match.

Tom Price faces up on 41*, 95 the partnership between he and Jack Leaning.

  20. Postpublished at 12:17 BST 13 April

    Yorks 108-7 – Target 426

Dom Bess is getting a bit more treatment after Eddie Jack becomes the latest to hit him on the helmet.

Jack bangs it in a bit short and Bess's attempted pull gets a top edge and on to his helmet, prompting another change of headgear.

No damage this time but maybe Yorks have hit on a tactic and they could physio their way to a draw?
