With Sussex already celebrating and rain in Canterbury, we are about to resume in four matches.

What does the afternoon session have in store?

    Lancs 351 & 160 v Derbys 374 & 52-3 - Target 138

A view from side-on at Old Trafford Cricket Ground with the players, batters and umpires all in shotImage source, Simon Edwards

Lancashire usually collapse in the first innings as in plenty of times last season. This season it is second innings collapses. At least we claim 1st innings bonus points. Probably not set Derbys enough to secure a much needed win here. Too little too late as per usual

Simon Edwards, Sale but currently at the only genuine Old Trafford

Last win at Old Trafford in 1996 when we had the great Dean Jones as captain. You wouldn't be a Derbyshire supporter if you didn't think this a game that could be lost.

    Martin Ousnam, Stoke

Derbyshire need 86 runs. Lancashire need seven wickets.

Could we be in for a Monday afternoon thriller?

  3. Battered Bess holding up Hantspublished at 13:28 BST 13 April

    Yorks 177 & 153-7 v Hants 251 & 351-5d

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Yorkshire are making Hampshire wait for what should be an inevitable victory.

Whilst we wait, poor Dom Bess has made what can only be described as a painful 26 not out.

Not in a cricketing sense though.

He was first struck full-on on the helmet by a quick delivery from Sonny Baker. After a lengthy delay the same bowler inflicted more pain in an area you would never want to be hit as a batter. Cue an even lengthier delay.

A couple of overs later Bess was struck on the helmet again, this time a more glancing blow off Eddie Jack, with the same bowler then handing out another painful blow, this time on his inner thigh.

Nobody can say Dom Bess isn’t going down fighting.

    Sussex (204 & 328-5) beat Warwickshire (267 & 264) by five wicket

Delighted for Sussex. What a fantastic chase. Would be incredible for the club to win the CC before we’re forced to sell all our players to the test ground counties as usual!

    James, on the South Downs

It has certainly been an excellent response to the 12-point deduction.

And what a lovely part of the world in which to be savouring Sussex's glorious start!

  6. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:11 BST 13 April

    Derbys 52-3 – Target 138

Another big shout from Mitch Stanley for an lbw against Harry Came and another shake of the head from umpire Sue Redfern.

So Derbys survive three down as they go to lunch and, while they have reached 51-3 this match remains in the balance.

Came on 17 and Martin Andersson who has made it briskly to 12 have done well against some spirited bowling and ferocious appealing.

Lancs will rue adding only 23 for the last four wickets this morning. How would the odds be stacked if they had another 50 on the board?

Back in 40 minutes for what should be a cracking and concluding afternoon session.

  7. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:06 BST 13 April

    Yorks 153-7 – Target 426 v Hants

A bit of spin from Liam Dawson before lunch by way of a change of pace which will be gratefully received by George Hill and Dom Bess.

Hill was the latest to wear one, fending off a steep riser from Sonny Baker with his shoulder.

Nothing compared to the battering Bess received earlier though and whatever happens this afternoon, Yorks cannot be accused of not battling for it.

Bess (26) and Hill (36) have done well and while the target remains out of reach barring a miracle, this pair probably need to reach tea unbroken.

  8. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:04 BST 13 April

    Surrey 520 & 105-2 v Leics 691 - Surrey trail by 66 runs

It's going to take a heck of a lot to force a result at The Oval but we can live in hope.

Dom Sibley goes just before the lunch break but Surrey still have plenty of batting to come.

Funny old game though, you never know...

  9. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:02 BST 13 April

    Notts v Glamorgan 200-7 - target 478

Notts will enjoy their sandwiches a lot more than Glamorgan will.

Five wickets for 68 runs and the defending champions need just three more for victory.

You'd fancy them to wrap it up before tea.

  10. 200 runs

200 up for Glamorganpublished at 13:02 BST 13 April

    Notts v Glamorgan 200-7 - target 478

Glamorgan pass the 200 mark but it feels like only a matter of time before Notts seal the victory at Trent Bridge.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:01 BST 13 April

    Sibley c Eskinazi b Patel 32 (Surrey 520 & 105-2 v Leics 691 - Surrey trail by 66 runs)

    Just before lunch...

Leicestershire have surrounded the bat with four fielders and it's paid dividends.

After bowling four straight wides down the legside, Ajaz Patel puts one on leg stump and Dom Sibley flicks it around the corner...

But Stephen Eskinazi is there to take a great catch at leg slip.

Still chance for a result? Maybe...

  12. 100 runs

100 up for Surreypublished at 12:58 BST 13 April

    Surrey 520 & 101-1 v Leics 691 - Surrey trail by 70 runs

Batting, batting and batting our way to a draw at The Oval.

Jamie Smith steps back and smashes a long hop down the ground for four off Rehan Ahmed and with that Surrey move past 100.

  13. Postpublished at 12:55 BST 13 April

    Yorks 147-7 – Target 426

The human target that is Dom Bess and all-rounder George Hill have done well for the last 10 overs keeping out Hants pacemen.

Bess has twice been hit in the helmet and once (or possibly twice) amidship.

The pair have found the boundary nine times and Hill has just leant into a rising ball from Codi Yusuf sending it racing to the cover boundary.

  14. Postpublished at 12:53 BST 13 April

    Notts v Glamorgan 192-7 - target 478

Maybe all too familiar a feeling for Glamorgan in this first session.

They lost six wickets for 29 runs to be bowled out for 113 on day two.

And the Welsh side have lost five wickets for 60 runs so far today.

  15. Postpublished at 12:50 BST 13 April

    Surrey 520 & 91-1 v Leics 691 - Surrey trail by 79 runs

Serious turn for Ajaz Patel all of a sudden.

It rips away from Dom Sibley and it spins so much, it beats keeper Ben Cox as well, before running away for four byes.

    Encouragement for Patel though.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:49 BST 13 April

    Guest c Singh b Coughlin 5 (Derbys 39-3 – Target 138)

Another one beats the bat and another one is given not out with Paul Coughlin hurling one past Brooke Guest.

But the batter is gone next ball as second slip Harry Singh snaffles the catch chest high.

Guest is furious with himself for playing away from his body but, truth be told, he may have been lucky to still be there after a couple of close shouts from Mitch Stanley.

This is bubbling up nicely now.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:46 BST 13 April

    Dickson c Hutton b James 22 (Notts v Glamorgan 192-7 - target 478)

Sub batter out to sub bowler. It was always going to happen.

Sean Dickson rocks back to a half-tracker from Lyndon James but succeeds only in sending it straight to Brett Hutton at deep backward square.

That's bread and butter for Hutton and Glamorgan are on the ropes now.

  18. SUSSEX BEAT WARWICKSHIRE BY FIVE WICKETSpublished at 12:46 BST 13 April
    Breaking

    Sussex 328-5 v Warwickshire - target 328

What a start to the season for the financially struggling Sussex County Cricket Club.

Emphatic wins at Grace Road and now back at home in front of their supporters who spent the winter being disgruntled at the occurrences at their club.

They conceded a first innings lead to Warwickshire but this awesome unbeaten partnership from home debutants Jack Leaning and Tom Price has got them over the line with aplomb.

Jack Leaning taking a single to start the fist pumps. off the final ball of an over he had taken for 15 off Warwickshire skipper Ed Barnard.

Standing ovation commences and much deserved it is.

Leaning finishing 120* and Tom Price on 70*, steering them from 184-5 to this victory target.

  19. Postpublished at 12:44 BST 13 April

    Notts v Glamorgan 192-6 - target 478

Wonderful shot by sub batter Sean Dickson to send sub bowler Lyndon James for four through the covers.

Glamorgan need 290 more runs to win with four wickets in hand. Seems... unlikely.

  20. Postpublished at 12:44 BST 13 April

    Derbys 34-2 – Target 138

Another huge shout from Mitch Stanley and the Lancs fielders but umpire Sue Redfern is unmoved.

Brooke Guest immediately looked back to see whether that was caught, suggesting he thought he might have nicked it.
