Joey Evison into the attack as Ben Green gets a well-deserved rest following his 10-over opening spell which has brought him 2-23.

Jonny Bairstow has been watchful under testing conditions but gets off the mark to his 10th ball as a backfoot punch brings him a single.

A clip into the legside brings James Wharton a couple to move to 27. Tidy.

    Essex 81-2 v Notts

Tom Westley and Charlie Allison have steadied the Essex ship after the loss of both Dean Elgar and Paul Walter.

Westley in particular has looked in prime form with eight boundaries in his 40 not out.

    Yorkshire 60-4 v Leicestershire

    Adam Whitty

Not sure I saw this coming...

The sun is shining, it appears to be perfect batting positions, but Leicestershire's bowlers have Yorkshire on the ropes.

Their issue this year has been that they haven't followed up good spells of bowling, and built pressure.

Ben Green and Josh Davey have bowled with pace and accuracy, getting plenty of movement out of the two-tone pitch at Grace Road (where the ends of the pitch have been mowed tight, the rest is green).

But young Alex Green has followed them up from the Bennett End, getting Matthew Revis cheaply, meaning this bowling unit are bowling as a pack.

Batters can't quite seem to figure out the line here - there's lots of inside and outside edges, lots of balls striking the pad. The decision to do the pitch in this way was a gamble - but it's paying off so far for the Foxes.

    Durham v Northants 68-0

Ben Stokes wants an LBW from umpire James Tredwell but finds the answer is a negative.

Embarrassing what is happening at Lancs. Nothing less. The committee survived an EGM not long ago but something drastic needs to change. Injuries have played a part but same for any other county. The number of ex Lancs players enjoying life elsewhere in cricket is a joke.

    Terry, Lancs

Lancashire are in disarray. For far too long the club has concentrated on opportunities outside of cricket and it shows. Until they rejig their focus, they'll remain a big county with a terrible side across all formats.

    Keith, Blackpool

Lancashire's batting woes have become a common theme of the 2026 season!

    Kellaway b Atkinson 5 (Glam 39-4 v Surrey)

    Gus Atkinson strikes again!

He cleans up Ben Kellaway with a full ball that nipped in and now Glamorgan are in big trouble.

Two wickets in three balls for Atkinson.

    Moores b Aitchison 8 (Derbyshire v Lancashire 74-6)

Lancashire have suffered innings of 84 all out and 87 all out in recent games and they are staring at another score of under 100 at this rate.

Young wicketkeeper Joe Moores stroked a couple of nice boundaries, but his stumps are rearranged by Ben Aitchison.

This innings is pretty ugly so far for Lancashire, but a dream for Derbyshire.

That barrage of boundaries from Tom Westley means it is time for a drink for him and batting partner Charlie Allison.

Notts also take on board some refreshments.

It is hot, hot work out there in the Chelmsford sunshine.

  9. Hants happy to only be one downpublished at 12:26 BST 19 June

    Sussex v Hants 57-1

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It’s taken a little while but the combination of Jaydev Unadkat and Tom Price are asking more questions of the Hampshire batters.

In the first few overs, the Hove pitch was offering some extravagant bounce, some seam and a little swing.

Sean Hunt didn’t quite get it right nor did Don Goodman.

Hampshire will be pleased to have only lost the single wicket to date

    Somerset 71-3 v Warks

Lewis Goldworthy hits outImage source, Getty Images

Lewis Goldworthy (27) drives a half-volley down the ground to bring up back-to-back boundaries to close off Ed Barnard's fourth over.

After Manav Suthar's first over concedes three runs, Thomas Rew (23) then pushes a single off Barnard to bring up the fifty partnership off 101 balls.

A much needed rebuilding job from this pair.

    Carlson c Pope b Atkinson 1 (Glam 38-3 v Surrey)

Caught Pope, bowled Atkinson was an international combination not too long ago.

But both have provided a third wicket here for Surrey.

Poor stroke from Kieran Carlson as he tries to flick a back of a length ball from Gus Atkinson that climbed on him and got an edge through to Ollie Pope.

    Essex 65-2 v Notts

Tom Westley pulling the ball to the boundaryImage source, Shutterstock

Tom Westley is getting the taste for this now.

After driving Olly Stone for a boundary to bring up the Essex 50 he sends the opening two deliveries from Lyndon James in the next over to the rope.

Two balls later he flips James down to the long leg boundary.

Good stuff from the home skipper.

    Leics v Yorks 52-4

James Wharton flashes hard as Ben Green runs in for his ninth straight over.

He gets a big edge but it runs away for four to bring up the fifty.

    It's come at a cost.

    Livingstone c Guest b Aitchison 0 (Derbyshire v Lancashire 62-5)

We need Channel Nine's duck wandering across the screen for this one.

Liam Livingstone is trudging back to the dressing room after an eight-ball scoreless knock. He starts walking towards the ball from Ben Aitchison but stops and goes for the drive, but edges behind and that is regulation stuff for the wicketkeeper.

There is a familiar sinking feeling about this Lancs knock.

50 up for Essexpublished at 12:18 BST 19 June

    Essex 52-2 v Notts

They won the toss and elected to bat but this has been anything but easy for Essex.

Thet get to 50 in the 19th over but it has come for the cost of the wickets of Dean Elgar and Paul Walter.

They get to the landmark with a dreamy on-drive from Tom Westley but it has been some very disciplined and testing bowling from Notts.

Olly Stone reacts to being driven to the boundary with one which floors Westley with a painful looking blow to the...well...lower regions.

    Revis c Cox b A Green 1 (Leics v Yorks 46-4)

A fine morning is getting even better for the hosts.

Yorkshire elected to bat first but have lost four wickets in the opening 80 minutes as Alex Green runs in for his first over.

A ball outside off-stump is a touch straighter and catches the outside egde of Matt Revis' defensive prod through to wicketkeeper Ben Cox.

    Jonny Bairstow joins the chaos.

    Tribe b Abbott 21 (Glam 34-2 v Surrey)

    Sean Abbott strikes again!

A full ball swinging in that Asa Tribe looks to whip to leg with the angle. But it straightens on him a fraction, beats the outside edge and flicks off-stump.

Looks a little ugly but actually a nice piece of bowling.

    Albert b Price 20 (Sussex v Hants 54-1)

    At least it was…

It was a nip-backer from a decent length and Albert is late on it and gets an inside edge into the ground and middle and leg stumps.

    Sussex v Hants 54-0

What a lovely first hour for struggling Hampshire.

Nick Gubbins eases a very pleasant cover drive for four off Tom Price to raise fifty. It’s his fourth boundary.

At the other end, Toby Albert has driven two fours off the front foot, cut another through point and steered Price carefully wide of gully.

Gubbins has 31, Albert 20, and all well for Hampshire by the sea.
