So Ben Stokes takes the 91st and last wicket of a frantic Friday of Championship cricket.

But while the England captain's presence has commanded the attention, Northants batter Ricardo Vasconcelos deserves the headlines.

His 180 not out is only five short of his career-best and has put Durham under pressure.

In Division One, wickets tumbled, with Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Sussex and Leicestershire all getting into good positions heading into day two.

    Thanks for your company today.

If you want, let's do it again tomorrow when we return at 10:45 BST!

A day which started all about the England Test captain Ben Stokes playing for Durham, ends up being one to remember for Northants opener Ricardo Vasconcelos.

Dropped on 13 off the bowling of Stokes, Vasconcelos went on to make his 14th first-class century, finishing the day unbeaten on 181, having also been dropped a second time on 136.

Stokes ended the day on a high note with a wicket, finishing with figures of 1-60 from 18 overs, but Durham also put down four catches in total having won the toss and chosen to bowl first.

    Durham v Northants 387-6

The penultimate over of the day will be bowled by Ben Stokes which kind of feels fitting given all the chat around the England Test captain today.

It has been a very, very long day in the north east.

Ben Stokes gets one and Durham actually hold a catch in the slips.

George Bartlett edges and Ben McKinney does the necessary.

    Kent 356-7 v Middlesex

Seb Morgan bowls a maiden to Matt Milnes with the final over of the day.

An interesting day down at Canterbury as Ben Dawkins, Ben Compton and Chris Benjamin all passed 50 but not 70 to put Kent in a good position, but not a decisive one.

Three wickets for Tom Helm and four for Morgan have meant Middlesex have kept chipping away to feel like the day did not slip away from them.

  7. Postpublished at 18:55 BST

    Durham v Northants 385-5

It is decidedly murky at Chester-le-Street.

The remaining spectators may need torches to find the exits at this rate.

Ben Stokes is driven for four by George Bartlett - that looked a tired delivery from the England Test skipper.

  8. Close of play at Chesterfieldpublished at 18:53 BST

    Derbyshire 197-5 v Lancashire 161

Bad light ends play slightly early at Chesterfield, but it is a day that belongs very much to Derbyshire.

From removing Keaton Jennings in the first over, they have not relinquished control. The four seamers shared the 10 wickets as Lancashire fell to a sorry 161 all out inside 40 overs.

While Matt Montgomery's fine 86 has pushed them into the lead. With Wayne Madsen unbeaten overnight on 25, they will hope to make the Red Rose suffer further tomorrow and push their lead - currently 36 - well past 100.

Just the one run from the Ben Stokes over.

He was flexing his knee a couple of times during that set of six but carried on so nothing to worry about it appears.

  10. Third batting point for Kentpublished at 18:50 BST

    Kent 355-7 v Middlesex

Naavya Sharma offers too much width to Matt Milnes and the Kent number nine steers it behind square on off for four and that's a third batting point as the total ticks past 350.

And Milnes gets four more off the next ball down the vacant deep third area and these are all valuable runs for the home side.

    Leics 177-3 v Yorks 185

Hassan Ali will bowl the final over and almost finds Nick Kelly's off stump with a beauty.

But the Kiwi takes a single before Rehan Ahmed clips a lovely four off the final ball to perfectly cap a day that very much belongs to the home side.

The Foxes lost the toss but go to stumps just eight runs behind with seven wickets intact.

The Leicestershire attack did brilliantly to bowl out the visitors for just 185 with only James Wharton (56) and George Hill (42) making an impression.

A poor day for the visitors grew worse after tea as they failed to stem the fast flow of runs from an aggressive batting approach.

Rishi Patel set the tone with a 72-ball 67 before Rehan Ahmed (62*) and Nick Kelly (25*) maintained the momentum.

We still have six overs remaining at Chester-le-Street.

The umpires have had a chat about the light on a couple of occasions but we continue for now.

Ben Stokes returns to the Durham attack. He has 0-53 from 15 overs so far.

  13. Postpublished at 18:40 BST

Dom Bess in for the penultimate over of day one.

Rehan Ahmed shutting up shop? Not a bit of it as he shows nice feet to drive through extra cover for an eighth boundary.

    One to go.

    Stewart b Morgan 48 (Kent 334-7 v Middlesex)

Seb Morgan comes up with another good wicket late in the day at Canterbury.

Grant Stewart's off-stump is in a sorry mess on the floor as the teenager seamer gets to work.

Did it keep a touch low? Did Stewart not get far enough forward?

Well, all that matters is on the scorecard with Stewart's innings over.

  15. Postpublished at 18:38 BST

    Leics 168-3 v Yorks 185

Three overs to go at Grace Road after a super day of cricket from Division One's basement side.

They haven't beaten Yorkshire in the Championship since 1986 but are putting themselves in a great position to break that run.

Hassan Ali returns for a final burst, looking to limit the damage, but Nick Kelly plays out a maiden with minimum fuss.

  16. Close of play at Sophia Gardenspublished at 18:33 BST

    Glam 244-6 v Surrey

They can’t get back on in Cardiff and bad light has claimed 16 overs.

Glamorgan won the toss but were quickly in trouble as Gus Atkinson - playing here after suspension from England Test duty - took two wickets to reduce the hosts to 79-6.

Atkinson also struck Colin Ingram a nasty blow on the hand and forced him to retire hurt.

But the afternoon turned around thanks to the evergreen Chris Cooke, who went through to his 15th first-class hundred at the age of 40 and his first ton for two seasons.

His stand with Mason Crane, 59 not out - his third fifty of the year, is a superb 165 and has got Glamorgan right back in the day.

But overall, Surrey are probably the happier side.

Rehan Ahmed has reached 2000 first class runs, at just 22, in this innings

Leicestershire have had a bit of a miserable start after their return to Division One, winless, and only fully competitive in two of seven matches.

But today, they may well have found their feet. The Foxes bowled really well in batting friendly conditions. They had previously struggled to bowl good spell after good spell, but today all of their bowlers got wickets.

Yorkshire didn't quite seem to get the measure of the pitch. They played often on the wrong line, and got a bit stuck, batting too conservatively.

On this pitch, those who attack, can thrive. Rishi Patel and Rehan Ahmed did that, and were rewarded for it.

Ahmed now has his half-century, playing a swashbuckling knock full of intent and confidence. He's showing England what they're missing.

  18. Postpublished at 18:27 BST

    Leics 165-3 v Yorks 185

Dom Bess joins the attack for the first time and is sent to the extra cover rope for four by Nick Kelly who, like all Foxes batters, has started with intent.

Great work on the rope stops a repeat next ball as Kelly is kept down to two.

    Five overs to go.

  19. Close of play at Hovepublished at 18:27 BST

    Sussex 121-3 v Hants 191

Tom Alsop and James Coles get Sussex to the close and a very good day for Sussex.

They lost the toss and Hampshire raised a half-century stand for the first wicket, Nick Gubbins making 52, but wickets soon began to tumble.

Tom Price ended up with 3-27 as Hants were rolled for just 191.

A swift reply was led by captain Tom Haines, who also made 52, and the hosts will return tomorrow with hopes of building a big lead.

    Leics 158-3 v Yorks 185

Jack White is in for his sixth over and Nick Kelly picks up a couple to take Leicestershire to the 150 mark.

Then a big appeal from the burly White ad the cordon as he raps Kelly on the pads but it's not out and runs for four leg byes.

Other than a few spells, Yorkshire have struggled to stem the flow of runs against an aggressive Foxes approach. The lead is now down to 27.
