100 up for Somersetpublished at 13:59 BST 19 June

    Somerset 108-7 v Warks

A leg bye brings up the Somerset century which in the circumstances doesn't get much applause from the home faithful.

Josh Shaw then gets a life as he edges Nathan Gilchrist between second and third slip for four.

Fortunately for him it dropped just short of outstetched hands.

    It's been a real struggle.

  2. 50 runs

    50 partnershippublished at 13:58 BST 19 June

    Worcestershire v Gloucestershire 87-2

Miles Hammond advances down the pitch to Matthew Waite and manages to nudge it fine for four runs and that is the half-century stand for him and Cameron Bancroft.

It sees Hammond advances to 35, one ahead of his captain.

    Dickson c Thomas b Clark 6 (Glam 76-5 v Surrey)

Surrey strike again soon after lunch.

Jordan Clark gets one to climb on Sean Dickson and a thick outside edge from high on the bat flies to second slip where a sharp catch is held at shoulder height.

Big wicket and Glamorgan are now reeling.

50 for Ben Dawkinspublished at 13:56 BST 19 June

    Kent 82-0 v Middlesex

Ben Dawkins replaced Zak Crawley in the Kent batting and how the teenager is delivering.

It's a second half-century in consecutive games for the 19-year-old as he squirts a Seb Morgan delivery through the gully area for a couple.

His 50 has come off 108 balls. Well batted, young man!

    Leach c Davies b Webster 0 (Somerset 97-7 v Warks)

    Make that Beau Webster 4-9!

Another ball outside off stump that a Somerset batter could have left alone but nibbles at.

Jack Leach sends a thin edge through to Alex Davies who fumbles but takes it at the second attempt. Four-ball duck for the former England spinner.

A collapsing Somerset send in Josh Shaw.

  6. 100 runs

100 up for Northantspublished at 13:53 BST 19 June

    Durham v Northants 103-0

The skies are darkening at Chester-le-Street and there might be the odd spit of rain in the air but Northants do not care as Ricardo Vasconcelos and skipper Luke Procter bring up the century opening stand.

    Critchley LBW b O'Neill 1 (Essex 95-5 v Notts)

The champions are showing their class.

Having just run out his partner Charlie Allison, Matt Critchley is pinned in fromt by Fergus O'Neill.

Notts are bang on top now.

Michael Pepper joins Luc Benkenstein at the wicket with work to do.

    Overton c Malik b Webster 2 (Somerset 97-6 v Warks)

A bad morning and now a bad start to the afternoon session for Somerset.

New batter Craig Overton plays away from his body and hits Beau Webster straight to Zen Malik at point. The fielder didn't have to move a step and Webster has 3-9!

Jack Leach is in at eight and Warwickshire are already into a lengthy Somerset tail

    Oh dear...

Liam Patterson-White finishes his over after lunch having taken the wicket of Tom Westley with his second ball before the break.

Off the final delivery Matt Critchley nudges one into the offside and calls Charlie Allison for a sharp single.

Allison seems a little slow to respond and is run out via Haseeb Hameed's throw with room to spare.

Not a great piece of cricket from Essex, a massive bonus for Notts.

  10. Afternoon session begins at Grace Roadpublished at 13:43 BST 19 June

    Leics v Yorks 89-5

Joey Evison completes his fourth over to get the afternoon session under way at Grace Road after striking before lunch.

He beats the outside edge as George Hill faces his first ball. Nice start.

Much of Yorkshire's hopes rest on the shoulders of James Wharton who resumes on 38.

    Lunch: Sussex v Hants 83-3

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

A wicket on the stroke of lunch has tilted the game in favour of Sussex, Jake Lehmann falling LBW to Tom Haines, a decision he clearly didn't like swishing his bat in annoyance.

Prior to that Hampshire had made a good start having won the toss adding 54 for the first wicket against some inconsistent Sussex bowling, the exception being Jaydev Unadkat who bowled an excellent line and length without taking a wicket.

However the introduction of Tom Price who claimed the wicket of Toby Albert stemmed the flow of runs, and Hampshire were indebted to Nick Gubbins for a disciplined, unbeaten 47 at lunch

Yes the scoring rate is slow but how many times have us Kent fans been on here this season bemoaning early collapses and no first innings batting points. Good platform being laid. Good work Bens.

    Lunch: Somerset 94-5 v Warwicks

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Taunton is this weekend celebrating a “Festival of Red Ball Cricket”, but a large home crowd might have been forgiven for wondering why the home team appeared to set off as if the ball was white, giving Warwickshire a head start they widened further just before the break.

Red-ball cricket broke out for a 90-minute period in which Lewis Goldsworthy set a responsible tone, with some attractive strokes added by Thomas Rew.

That recovery work was undermined by Beau Webster’s short spell before lunch, in which he persuaded Rew to pad up to a straight ball, and Archie Vaughan to jab to first slip.

Earlier, when there was cloud cover, the top order attacked the swinging ball without success. After Josh Thomas had prodded a low catch to Alex Davies, Tom Kohler-Cadmore immediately advanced to Ethan Bamber and edged a firm drive to second slip.

Bamber had already found both edges of Jordan Hermann’s bat, but Nathan Gilchrist had the South African flashing a drive to third slip in the next over, giving Warwickshire a bonus point only 20 balls into the match.

    Cennydd Davies
    Commentator on BBC Radio Wales

Surrey cricketers are well on top after the first session of the first day of the county championship fixture against Glamorgan at Cardiff with the hosts struggling at 71-4.

Bowling a disciplined line and length the home side found scoring difficult at Sophia Gardens which resulted in a flurry of wickets .

Billy Root in for the injured Zain ul Hassan was the first to depart as he was caught by Sam Curran off the bowling of Shaun Abbott and the Australian picked his second wicket as he clean bowled England Lions opener Asa Tribe.

Gus Atkinson, who’s hasn’t been picked by England for the 2nd test at the Oval against New Zealand due to disciplinary issues, quickly got in on the act as he took the wickets of both captain Kiran Carlson and Ben Kellaway .

Colin Ingram and Sean Dickson managed to dig in prior to lunch but a lot will depend on the pair if Glamorgan are able to post a decent first-innings total as they will resume on 71-4.

  15. Essex need to dig inpublished at 13:21 BST 19 June

    Lunch: Essex 87-3 v Notts

    Victoria Polley
    BBC cricket commentator

Losing the wicket of captain Tom Westley just before the lunch interval will be hugely frustrating for Essex.

He and Charlie Allison had been rebuilding and looking comfortable following the early wickets of the openers Dean Elgar and Paul Walter but the introduction of the spin of Liam Patterson-White has drawn the breakthrough.

That'll give Nottinghamshire a big boost going into the afternoon session while Essex will need to dig in.

A touching moment at Cardiff before play got underway this morning.

The National Cricket Centre at Sophia Gardens has been named after Hugh Morris.

The very-well respected former Glamorgan and England batsman and chief executive died of bowel cancer aged 62 in December.

WICKET and lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:06 BST 19 June

    Vaughan c Hain b Webster 5 (Somerset 94-5 v Warks)

Warwickshire have a fifth wicket and that's lunch.

A poor end to a scratchy session for the hosts as Archie Vaughan prods at a Beau Webster ball he could have left outside off-stump, edges and Sam Hain takes a comfortable catch at first slip.

The Bears will be cock-a-hoop as they beat a retreat to the pavilion for lunch.

A disastrous spell of three wickets in five balls left Somerset reeling on 21-3 after opting to bat first in what seemed to be cracking batting conditions.

Thomas Rew (35) and Lewis Goldsworthy (33*) steadied the ship but their 65-run partnership was broken when Webster trapped Rew.

  20. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 13:05 BST 19 June

    Worcestershire v Gloucestershire 78-2

Cameron Bancroft has batted through the morning to reach 34 at lunch with Miles Hammond 26 not out to lead a recovery from 35-2.

But Worcestershire have not let them get away and the home bowlers will be reasonably satisfied with their two hours of graft.
