  1. Ind 73-3published at 9 overs

Two dots and four singles from Shabnim Ismail's latest ever.

Maybe India's chaotic running was a result of the pressure building on the batters.

Oh dear me, what was Harmanpreet Kaur thinking there? She drops the ball at her feet and calls Jemimah Rodrigues through for a single.

Shabnim Ismail joins the charge down to the striker's end and gives the ball a hefty kick with her right boot. She misses the stumps. Huge let off for India.

What Ayabonga Khaka has done really well in that over is go cross-seam and sometimes the ball is lifting and sometimes it is shooting on. It meant that Yastika Bhatia stuck on the crease.

  4. Ind 69-3published at 8 overs

India are just meandering a little here. After eight boundaries in the opening four overs, they've scored just three in the next four.

Harmanpreet Kaur has played a lot of cricket here at Old Trafford for Lancashire Thunder. She is very familiar with the surroundings. She should feel at home.

Red, red, red. Crashing into Yastika Bhatia's off-stump.

Ayabonga Khaka strikes with her second ball.

Out walks Harmanpreet Kaur on her 200th T20I outing for India. She probably didn't want to be in the middle this early.

Yastika Bhatia appeared to start making the review sign immediately there, but did then decide to consult with her batting partner.

  8. India reviewpublished at 7.2 overs

The finger goes up - Ayabonga Khaka has trapped Yastika Bhatia lbw.

Or has she? Bhatia goes for a brief chat with Jemimah Rodrigues and makes the T.

I have been outside to experience the atmosphere and it is so loud. This game is basically a quarter-final in itself.

  10. Ind 66-2published at 7 overs

Nonkululeko Mlaba enters the attack. She concedes a cut four through point from Yastika Bhatia but it's a tidy over.

Bhatia finishes it with a minor scare as an aerial drive falls just short of Laura Wolvaardt in the covers.

It is very much India's powerplay despite the loss of the two openers. South Africa's bowlers have been clubbed for far more runs than they would be comfortable with.

  12. Ind 59-2published at 6 overs

    Bhatia 10, Rodrigues 1

Yastika Bhatia finishes the powerplay with a flourish, driving through the covers for four.

With 59 runs on the board, India will probably be the happier of the two sides but they've lost both openers.

Smriti Mandhana, cruising on 17 (12), rather gave her away her wicket with a needless attempted ramp while Shafali Verma has just been caught behind off a well-executed short ball from Shabnim Ismail.

I am amazed that South Africa didn't review that quicker on reflection. It must have been Sinalo Jafta behind the stumps that wanted to review. I really didn't think there was anything on it initially.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.4 overs

    Verma c Jafta b Ismail 31 (Ind 54-2)

Yup, Shafali Verma has gloved it and been caught behind by Sinalo Jafta.

Well done to whoever it was in the South Africa camp who encouraged Laura Wolvaardt to send that one upstairs. Huge breakthrough for South Africa.

  15. South Africa reviewpublished at 5.4 overs

What's going on here? Shabnim Ismail does go to the short ball and Shafali Verma appears to have swayed out of the way.

But then... a late review from South Africa and Verma is walking before the TV umpire starts reviewing the footage.

I am very surprised that South Africa haven't tried the short-ball theory against Shafali Verma. They've had success in the past with that but there is a change of conditions.

  17. Ind 52-1published at 5 overs

India's 50 comes up as Yastika Bhatia pushes for four down the ground, past a sprawling Shabnim Ismail. South Africa aren't doing much in the field to stop boundaries.

It's an otherwise tight over from Marizanne Kapp, who nearly picks up a second wicket as Bhatia goes for and executes a Mandhana-esque (that is to say, horrible) ramp.

As has one has come to expect, there is a mighty India following inside Old Trafford, with flags and replica shirts aplenty.

I did see one South Africa flag hung over a billboard, but even that now seems to have disappeared.

I can see why South Africa needed someone to bowl that over but it was a terrible over.

  20. Ind 47-1published at 4 overs

Chloe Tryon pulls the over back, conceding just three runs off the remaining three balls.

However, Yastika Bhatia was aided in picking up two with a misfield from Tazmin Brits, who has grazed her hand/arm in the process.
