  1. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 15:05 BST 11 April

    Lancs 351 v Derbys 138-2

The dark clouds which have circled Old Trafford are finally delivering some water and the cover is brought on.

Just one wicket for Lancs since lunch with Matt Montgomery taken by Paul Coughlin at gully off the bowling of Mitch Stanley.

Coughlin might justifiably be a little miffed that his teammates have not hung on to chances off his bowling.

Harry Came, who has reached 72*, has been dropped off the former Durham man's bowling on 16 and 54.

  2. 100 runs

100 up for Nottinghamshirepublished at 15:04 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 & 100-2 v Glamorgan 113

Ryan Hadley gets one to pop up on Ben Slater and it hits him on the thigh pad but he's able to get through for a single and that's the 100 up for Notts.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Dan Lateganpublished at 15:02 BST 11 April

    Middlesex 183 v Worcestershire 191 & 79-0

Dan Lategan is a very promising player and he is doing a fine job for Worcestershire here.

An excellent counter-attack brings up his 50 off 48 balls as he puts the Pears on top.

Middlesex have had little answer to this so far.

  4. Postpublished at 15:01 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 & 98-2 v Glamorgan 113

Joe Clarke nudges his way another run closer to 50 as he picks up a single off Mason Crane into the leg-side.

Clarke is onto 48 from 72 balls. And Notts are almost at the 100 mark.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:01 BST 11 April

    Bess c Brown b Dawson 8 (Yorks 166-8 v Hants 251)

Spinner does spinner... and Liam Dawson enjoys this.

A little bit of extra bounce and Dom Bess gets a bit cramped trying to chop away into the off side.

Ben Brown takes a smart catch behind the stumps.

    Kent v Northants 600-2

Genuine question to fellow Kent fans... do we think this is a flat pitch and we, too, will get 600 for 2... or will it be a case of wickets tumbling as a result of what my dad always called "the magic roller"?

  7. Postpublished at 14:58 BST 11 April

    Yorks 162-7 v Hants 251

Big shout from Kyle Abbott who gets one to dart back and hit Harry Duke's pad but it is doing way too much off the pitch.

Duke responds with a well-timed block drive for four through the covers.

    Honours even.

  8. wicket

SUSSEX ALL OUT FOR 204published at 14:56 BST 11 April

    Robinson c Hain b Webster 39 (Sussex 204 all out v Warwickshire 267)

Pulled straight to deep square leg on the boundary and a first wicket for Beau Webster.

Ollie Robinson had brought the 200 up having played a lovely shimmy down and drive for four, but he cannot keep accelerating.

Only 52 balls faced for Robinson's 39 with Henry Crocombe left on four.

Home side Sussex will be disappointed having done so well on day one. They trail by 63 runs.

  9. 100 runs

100 up for Leicestershirepublished at 14:56 BST 11 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 102-0

That's the 100 up for Leicestershire and they've done so without losing so much as a single wicket here at The Oval.

Rishi Patel ticks it over to three figures as he flicks off his legs off Matt Fisher and it runs fine down the leg-side for four.

A good opening partnership by Patel (35*) and Jake Weatherald (52*).

  10. wicket

SOMERSET ALL OUT FOR 348published at 14:54 BST 11 April

    Ball c Mulder b Snater 1 (Essex 149 v Somerset 348 all out)

Jake Ball gets out again agonisingly close to the 350 third batting bonus point, a third wicket for Shane Snater.

347 last week, 348 this week, both times Ball being dismissed so close to another point for his team.

He is at number 11 but Somerset have so many bowlers who can bat they will be frustrated, though overall should be happy to have a 199-run lead over the Division One leaders.

Essex have a lot of batting to do.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Nathan McSweeneypublished at 14:53 BST 11 April

    Kent v Northants 582-2

A first half-century in Northants colours for Australia batter Nathan McSweeney.

He did come in at 472-2, but he has helped add more than 100 with Luke Procter and he has unfurled some handsome strokes.

The 50 has only required 55 balls with nine fours.

  12. Back on at Headingleypublished at 14:52 BST 11 April

    Yorks 157-7 v Hants 251

The sun is out again and so are the players.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:52 BST 11 April

    Carson c Mousley b Thompson 39 (Sussex 196-9 v Warwickshire 267)

Jordan Thompson gets another in his second Warwickshire game, a short ball to Jack Carson popped up to short leg for an easy catch.

66 that partnership was worth, rescuing Sussex from a perilous position still even though they will be disappointed to have not passed 200 together.

  14. Squall hits Bristolpublished at 14:51 BST 11 April

    Glos 10-1 v Durham 605-5 dec

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The players had to race off the field around 1.50pm when a squall hit Bristol.

The rain was really heavy for a few minutes and the strong gusts which hit the ground blew a section of sightscreen over. Groundstaff had a real job on their hands trying to get the covers on as well.

One of them was dragged along the floor on his knees as he tried to stop the sheeting blowing away. The conditions were certainly risky for a period.

In contrast, it is now nice and sunny but mopping up has taken a while, not least because the team looking after the field had to get the sightscreen back up first and replace the boards which had been blown off it.

The umpires are inspecting and we will hopefully have play again in the next half-hour or so.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:50 BST 11 April

    Pretorius c Walter b Porter 6 (Essex 149 v Somerset 348-9)

This catch is taken in the slips by Paul Walter, as Miggy Pretorius falls.

Somerset are nine down, three shy of a third batting bonus point.

This is exactly what they finished on in the first round when Jake Ball let his skipper down, playing a poor shot so close to another point, leading to a massive outburst of frustration from Craig Overton.

He is the man at 11 again, and facing with one more ball of Jamie Porter's 21st over.

  16. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:49 BST 11 April

    Lancs 351 v Derbys 117-2

Paul Coughlin is fizzing after another goes down off his bowling.

He had Harry Came dropped on 16 and now he has been spilled at first slip by Michael Jones on 54.

To add insult to considerable injury, Came wallops the next ball for four through midwicket.

  17. 50 runs

50 for Jake Weatheraldpublished at 14:47 BST 11 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 93-0

Left-hander Jake Weatherald playing a shot square of the wicket on his offsideImage source, Shutterstock

A fine innings so far for Jake Weatherald and that's his 50.

He flashes outside off from Matt Fisher and it goes a lot finer than he'd like but they all count as it races away for four.

That's his 10th boundary of the day and Leicestershire are looking good.

I’ve been really disappointed at Yorkshire's lack of discipline with the bat. The only man who looks in good nick is 38-year-old Adam Lyth

    Olly Bird, Leeds

Yorkshire went 37-1 to 37-4 last night and slipped from 137-4 to 149-7 today. Apart from Adam Lyth's 76 and a 40 from Matt Revis, no other batter is yet to pass 14.

  20. Postpublished at 14:42 BST 11 April

    Notts 279 & 85-2 v Glamorgan 113

It's getting harder and harder to envisage a scenario in which Glamorgan can win this.

Joe Clarke guides it away for another four off Andy Gorvin before clipping into the leg-side for a single.

Clarke is now onto 41 from 56 balls and Notts extend their lead past 250.
