    Northants 465 v Gloucs 235-5

Graeme van Buuren played his part in digging Gloucestershire out of a hole with a fine 148-run partnership with James Bracey before that was broken late on day two.

He still has some digging to do this morning if the visitors are to avoid a sixth defeat from seven.

They need another 82 runs to avoid the follow-on with five wickets intact.

The new ball is just eight overs away for the rested Northants bowlers.

Raphael Weatherall opens up and concedes a couple of singles to van Buuren and Jack Taylor.

Lancashire fan Tony sent this late last night after a day at Stanley Park. Does this give you any hope today, Lancs supporters?

Apologies all Lancs fans. I came all the way from Belgium to see the lads today... I think I cursed it. Don't worry I'm not there tomorrow so expect a titanic second innings score from the Red Rose county.

    Leics 187 & 51-0 Essex 401

Shane Snater gets the ball rolling on day three with Rishi Patel to face the first ball.

The Leicestershire batters have a real battle on their hands to salvage a positive result from this one.

But the openers did their bit last night - can they get restarted once again?

The Essex bowler is on the money straight up but Patel is solidly behind the first six in defence. Maiden.

Jamie Porter to open up in tandem. Two slips in place.

  5. Warwickshire on their waypublished at 11:03 BST 14 June

    Warwickshire 229-7 v Yorkshire 469

Early boundary from Keith Barker. He turns the second ball of the day from Adam Lyth through the leg side for four.

Warwickshire need to get 320 to take the follow-on out of the equation.

Yorkshire have taken the new ball for the second over of the day.

With the first ball of the day!

It's not the greatest shot from Lewis Goldsworthy as he dangles his bat at one outside off stump from Brett Hutton and nicks off to wicketkeeper Joe Clarke.

Just the start Notts would have hoped for. Not ideal for Somerset.

Chris Benjamin picks up the first run of the morning for Kent, nudging for a single to cover from Tom Bailey and he now moves to 102.

Matt Parkinson then adds another one, flicking into the legside.

A case of just making this lead as big as possible for the visitors to try and leave Lancashire without a sniff.

    Sussex 521 v Glamorgan 155 & 42-0

A lot of hard work lies ahead for Glamorgan if they are to avoid their second Championship defeat of the season.

But they will be up against a Sussex attack minus Henry Crocombe after he was summoned into the England Test squad on Saturday.

In the corresponding game in 2023, they were 358 behind on first innings and escaped with a draw after scoring 737 second time around.

Asa Tribe resumes 27 not out, with partner Zain ul Hassan on five.

Division Two leaders Durham will be looking to wrap this one up quickly on day three today.

Kasey Aldridge took a five-for as Derbyshire were dismissed for just 118 in their first innings yesterday. Durham then enforced the follow-on with the visitors 259 behind.

Harry Came and Wayne Madsen provided some resistance after they had been reduced to 44-3 in their second innings. But just before the close Madsen got an unplayable grubber and was bowled for 18.

Came will resume this morning on 48, while Nick Potts has yet to get off the mark. Another Potts has done the damage in this innings, with Durham's Matty taking all four wickets so far.

It's a nice day in CLS and the howling gale which has hammered the ground for the last two days appears to have blown itself out.

    Notts 193 v Somerset 310 & 73-2

Lewis Gregory celebrates taking a wicket for SomersetImage source, Shutterstock

This contest at Trent Bridge was very much in the balance before the start of play on day two - but by the end of it, it was Somerset who had very much taken the initiative.

Nottinghamshire rattled through the final three Somerset wickets in the morning for just 15 runs to bowl the visitors out for 310.

But a first-ball duck in reply for Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed set the tone for a difficult innings as Somerset captain Lewis Gregory took 4-51 from 13.4 overs before going off with a suspected hamstring injury.

Notts were dismissed for 193 and Somerset were 73-2 at close with a lead of 190 runs and eight wickets still in hand.

A crucial morning of cricket awaits to find out whether Notts will turn the tide to avoid what could be a first loss of the red-ball season.

  14. Yorkshire aim to turn dominance into victorypublished at 10:46 BST 14 June

    Yorkshire 469 v Warwickshire 225-7

    Dom BessImage source, Shutterstock

Yorkshire have been the dominant side from the beginning of this match. Over the next two days they'll aim to make that superiority count and reverse their loss at Edgbaston earlier in the season.

There's a new ball due in an over and if the home side can take the last three Warwickshire wickets before they add 95 more runs Jonny Bairstow will have a decision to make.

Does he enforce the follow on or look to bat, score quickly and get the Bears in again before the end of the day?

Either way spinner Dom Bess, who has two wickets so far, admits it won't be easy.

"We're in a good position," he acknowledged, "It's a pitch where once you get in you can score, probably not freely but you can. But it's quite hard to get people out once they get the pace of the pitch."

It's a sunny morning at North Marine Road ahead of what will be a fascinating day's cricket.

    Sussex 521 v Glamorgan 155 & 42-0 (match resumes at 11:00)

Jaydev Unadkat and James ColesImage source, Shutterstock

Sussex's James Coles pronounced himself "pretty chuffed" after a new career-best score of 224 not out on day two against Glamorgan.

He hit 11 sixes during his 226-ball innings in the wake of his unbeaten 63 for England Lions against South Africa A last week.

"I have been a bit short of runs this season and it could have been quite easy for me to get into a bit of a pit so I am glad I cashed in," he said at close of play.

"It's the first time in three years that there has been a bit of a low for me. You reflect a bit more, but I am not a huge thinker about it and I've always had the self confidence to know that there is a big score around the corner."

  16. Essex replace Cox after England call-uppublished at 10:41 BST 14 June

    Leics 187 & 51-0 v Essex 401

Essex batter Jordan Cox waves to the crowd after bringing up a century against LeicestershireImage source, Shutterstock

A big development at Grace Road will see Essex take to the field this morning without Jordan Cox.

The explosive wicketkeeper-batter smashed a brilliant 204, contributing more than half of his side's first innings total of 401, and then took two catches as Leicestershire were dismissed for 187.

But Essex have confirmed that Cox has been called up early into the England squad ahead of the second Test with New Zealand which starts on Wednesday at the Oval.

Michael Pepper will take Cox's place for the remainder of the match as Essex look to drill down on their formidable position.

Having been asked to follow on, the Foxes will resume on 51-0 in their second knock, still needing another 163 to make the visitors bat a second time.

  17. Kent dominate Lancashire to take controlpublished at 10:38 BST 14 June

    Lancs 87 v Kent 178 & 320-8

Keith Dudgeon celebrates taking six wickets for Kent by holding up the ball at the end of the Lancashire inningsImage source, Shutterstock

Kent put themselves in a strong position at Stanley Park on day two to go on and win this remarkable match.

The visitors skittled Lancashire in the morning session, taking the final eight wickets for only 70 runs to bowl the hosts out for just 87.

Keith Dudgeon starred with the ball, taking 6-21 from his 12 overs before Harry Finch hit 83 and Chris Benjamin ended the day unbeaten on 101 to build a 411-run lead.

Kent will resume on 320-8 this morning with Lancashire still needing two more wickets before they can think about how they approach batting with a likely 400+ target to try and chase down.

Ben Smith is in his third season as Derbyshire batting coach

Derbyshire were at a loss to explain a below-par batting performance at the Riverside which has left them facing the prospect of defeat by Division two leaders Durham after having to follow-on.

The visitors won their last two Championship games, but lost 14 wickets on day two with their first innings lasting just 29.4 overs.

"We’ve batted so well all season in both formats, and none of us expected that to happen today," said batting coach Ben Smith.

“There’s been a bit of inconsistent bounce and were we quick enough to react to it? I’d question that. We were also exposed to some very good bowling with the new ball."

  19. Weather prospectspublished at 10:33 BST 14 June

"At the moment, it's high pressure sandwiched between two areas of low and that means mostly staying dry through today."

Encouraging summary from BBC Weather's Matt Taylor this morning. No major interruptions yesterday and it looks like we are set fair for another good day of county cricket.
