Summary

Your views on England's tour of Sri Lanka

  1. SL 133-4published at 16 overs

    Target 358

Will Jacks' first over was, frankly, a terrible one despite taking a wicket with his first ball.

However, he has bowled very well in this second spell. Just two from his latest over.

  2. SL 131-4published at 15 overs

    Target 358

England will feel that much more relaxed after that wicket.

Sri Lanka's start had meant they didn't need to keep going at such a rate throughout but keeping wickets in hand was always going to be crucial.

With four of the top five gone, the margin for error is getting increasingly small for the hosts.

Talk about right speed and right length, that's the wrong speed and wrong length.

Charith Asalanka picks out the England captain. They're in real, real trouble.

  4. wicket

    Asalanka c Brook b Rashid 13 (SL 131-4)

    Adil Rashid strikes.

A little short from the England leg-spinner and Charith Asalanka tries to hammer it leg side.

He does but straight to Harry Brook at mid-wicket. A gift.

Not a classic Rashid dismissal but they all count.

  5. SL 130-3published at 14.2 overs

    Target 358

Slow, loopy delivery from Adil Rashid and Pavan Rathnayake is down the track to turn it into a full toss, one that he hammers through the covers for four.

Fast start but doesn't feel sustainable, Sri Lanka will run out of wickets unless someone starts to pace the innings a bit better.

  7. SL 124-3published at 14 overs

    Target 358

Another good over from Will Jacks with just three from it.

There is an umpire review for a stumping after one turns down the leg side and Jos Buttler whips off the bails.

But the England wicketkeeper isn't too fussed, he knows Pavan Rathnayake got his bat down in time.

It's a ripper to end the over from Jacks, though, sharp turn to beat Charith Asalanka.

This pitch hasn't offered anything for the spinners, so the bowlers will be relying on batters' mistakes.

  9. SL 121-3published at 13 overs

    Target 358

Just four from Adil Rashid's second over.

Sri Lanka are showing the England leggie all the respect he deserves.

They're still going at 9.3 an over with the required rate currently 6.4.

Would England rather be in the position where they've got two wickets less but also have 50 runs less on the scoreboard? Is Overton's expense worth it?

  11. SL 117-3published at 12 overs

    Target 358

Very good over from Will Jacks in the context of this innings so far.

Just a single from the first five and then he's a little unfortunate to see the last slide off Pavan Rathnayake's edge and down to deep third for four.

Rathnayake was going for the late but it went much finer than he wanted and even flicked the glove of Jos Buttler.

This is only the fourth time Sri Lanka have brought up 100 inside the first 10 overs of an ODI. 104 is their second-highest score at this stage.

Their highest was 133-0 against England at Leeds in 2006, when Sri Lanka completed their highest ever successful run chase in ODIs, knocking off the target of 322 with eight wickets and 75 balls to spare.

  14. SL 112-3published at 11 overs

    Target 358

Pavan Rathnayake uses his feet to the first two balls of Adil Rashid's over but can't beat the in-field.

He stays put third ball and a leg glance runs away fine for four. Rashid just lost his line.

Charith Asalanka then cleverly guides the ball past short third for two before a single makes it eight from the over.

The length was edible for the batter and the connection was audible.

Just use the pace and length and the ball disappeared like a tracer bullet.

  17. SL 104-3published at 10 overs

    Target 358

Just a bizarre start from Jamie Overton.

Two wickets but he's going at 12 an over! Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka drills his first ball through the covers for four and Pavan Rathnayake adds four more later in the over.

England will be glad that the powerplay is over and they can give the bowlers a little bit more cover.

Full marks to the England captain for sticking with Jamie Overton.

He's been expensive but he has responded well with a big wicket.

Well, what a strange day for Jamie Overton; two wickets when he must have been starting to wonder what was going on.

That's the big one for England.

Pathum Nissanka has picked up length so well in this innings but perhaps misjudges this one ever so slightly.

Shorter from Jamie Overton but not quite as short as Nissanka thinks and he mistimes the pull shot.

It carries out to deep mid-wicket where sub fielder Tom Banton takes the catch.
