It feels all England need is an over or two like that and the game will be there for the taking.

  2. Ind 115-3published at 11 overs

India need 143 runs in 54 balls

A brilliant over by Liam Dawson - who replaced Rehan Ahmed for this match. Just five runs and that important wicket.

A muted celebration from Ishan Kishan as he reaches his 50 from 27 deliveries.

This is the one phase where India did not want to lose another wicket. They had England a little rattled so the timing of it for India will be disappointing for them.

But you can understand Shreyas Iyer wanting to keep his foot on the accelerator and keep the run-rate going.

Skied and caught! The drinks break does the trick.

Liam Dawson pitches it up. Shreyas Iyer attempts to hit it into the leg side, against the spin, but a thick edge sends it towards Sam Curran at backward point.

I know from my time at Hampshire this ground is a lovely place to bat if you get in. The groundstaff always produce some cracking pitches here.

It's been a more than spirited effort from India. They are not going to want to go down without a fight here. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are leading the charge for India.

Most of India's players have been playing non-stop cricket since February so I think perhaps sometimes they have looked fatigued in this series.

  10. Ind 110-2published at 10 overs

Will Jacks offers some width and Shreyas Iyer wallops it down the ground for a one-bounce four.

    Eight from the over.

The standard of fielding will decide this game. On a pitch like this India's shocking performance in the field has them chasing 40-50 runs more than was necessary.

Brendon McCullum is chatting on his walkie talkie on the balcony as Will Jacks continues.

Just two from the first three deliveries. England won't mind that.

It's not easy to contain attacking batting on this surface. India's run-rate is 11.33 and they still have a lot to do in the second part of the innings but 14 an over for the modern player feels possible.

It's noticeable that Sam Curran is already going through his variations. That's maybe something India were guilty of - not changing it up enough.

  15. Ind 101-2published at 9 overs

    Target 258

A slower ball from Sam Curran is clipped past short fine-leg for four. Sam Curran has his hands on his hips.

The hundred is up for India.

India are very much in the game. They have a platform and if these two stay in it this could be quite a tasty run chase.

  17. Ind 96-2published at 8.4 overs

Well, no quiet overs just yet as Ishan Kishan pummels Sam Curran for six.

If India can take on Adil Rashid and take runs off him then it changes the script a little bit.

Chasing down a big total you don't have to think too much. India will be happy so far but the challenge is you have to keep going every over.

As soon as you have a couple of quiet overs the asking rate goes up.

  19. Not outpublished at 17:41 BST 11 July

Ishan Kishan looked a little worried but he needn't be. Not out.

England don't look convinced this is out, but it looks quite tight.
