The India pair run a quick single. Will Jacks with the direct hit from mid-on. The on-field umpire sends it upstairs. I think Ishan Kishan in.

It's not a great day to be a bowler at Southampton - a baking hot day, good pitch and a fast outfield.

  3. Ind 87-2published at 8 overs

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan take a single apiece. Those two cheap wickets aside, it's been so far, so good for the tourists.

  4. Ind 85-2published at 7.4 overs

Ishan Kishan advances down the track and smashes Adil Rashid for two consecutive boundaries.

The difference could be that India did not have a wicket-taking bowler at this stage of the game, but England do in Adil Rashid. You look at England's bowling unit and you see wicket takers in the middle overs but you don't see that with India.

Jofra Archer has been England's standout performer in the powerplay this series. His five wickets have come at an average of 14.6 and an economy of 8.1 - the best figures for any bowler in the series.

  8. Ind 75-2published at 7overs

The boundaries keep coming. Shreyas Iyer clips a fuller delivery into the leg side for four. It was an otherwise decent over from Liam Dawson.

With some of the scores in the Indian Premier League I don't think India's players will be intimidated by a run chase of this size.

  11. Ind 69-2published at 6.3 overs

Liam Dawson - sporting some well-fitted sunglasses - turns his arm.

Just four runs conceded from his first three deliveries.

So far, England appear to be on it in the field.

Bowling just his third over in the powerplay, Sam Curran has picked up his second wicket in this phase in this series while going at 10.4 runs per over.

It's so hard to contain the run rate on this pitch as the fielding team.

India are ahead of where England were in the powerplay!

  14. Ind 65-2published at 6 overs

Shreyas Iyer wastes no time, powering it back over Sam Curran's head for four, followed by an edgy pull for four more.

India need 193 runs in 85 balls.

Sanju Samson does not move his feet, extends his hands, and is not in a position to play that shot. That's the length Josh Tongue should be bowling.

Sam Curran gets a wicket first ball! That's the problem from India when you chasing such a big score you have to keep playing shots.

Sam Curran with a wicket from his first ball.

Again, a cheap dismissal from India's perspective as a stationary Sanju Samson chips it straight to Jacob Bethell at cover.

India would have taken this start - 11 an over. So far this has been smart cricket which we haven't seen in this series.

  19. Ind 55-1published at 5 overs

Ishan Kishan plays a delightful late cut for another boundary.

A mixed bag from Josh Tongue - three dot balls but 12 runs conceded.
