    A wonderful delivery!

It looked like an off-cutter with the way he just rolled his finger. The ball came in ever-so slightly and it had great pace. That could trouble a lot of players across the world.

An excellent comeback from Dushmantha Chameera. A much-needed wicket for Sri Lanka against a dangerous Phillips.

    Bowled 'im!

A fired up Dushmantha Chameera takes matters into his own hands and cleans up Glenn Phillips next ball.

It's superbly bowled. A good length and nipping back in at 90mph to clatter into middle and leg as Phillips aims a swipe leg side.

You cannot be dropping that, especially after they have already dropped an important one.

He got there easily but he needed to stabilise himself a little bit.

    SL 75-2

That could be a very costly one!

Rachin Ravindra hits one straight up off Dushmantha Chameera, the ball goes a long way up but Dashun Shanaka - running in from long-on - shells it.

    Big let-off for Ravindra.

This partnership is building. It is just taking a bit of time but there is no harm in that.

They are building a bit of a foundation.

  6. NZ 73-2published at 9 overs

    Phillips 17, Ravindra 25

Glenn Phillips gets in over the act, jumping on another slightly overpitched delivery from Dushan Hemantha and thumping it back down the ground for four.

It's 14 from the over and New Zealand are starting to build-up a head of steam as the innings approaches its halfway point.

Rachin Ravindra is taking the pressure off Glenn Phillips, who is struggling to strike the ball as well as he does at the minute.

Ravindra isn't taking any unnecessary risks either, he's just playing proper cricketing shots.

    They are looking very good.

Down the ground and that's a big, big hit from Rachin Ravindra!

He knows Dushan Hemantha is going to flight it, comes down the track and smashes it back over the bowler's head for six.

Pressure on at the start of the over.

If he caught that, it would've been one of the greatest catches in the history of the game!

  10. NZ 59-2published at 8 overs

Glad to hear we're on the same page, Abhishek.

Anyway, that is a remarkable stop from Pavan Rathnayake! Glenn Phillips thumped the ball towards deep midwicket, Rathnayake came in and then dived to make a brilliant stop on the bounce.

Rapturous applause from the crowd and it is very well deserved. Excellent fielding.

I really enjoy watching Dushan Hemantha bowl.

He reminds me of somebody who has brought the art back. He bowls really slow and tries to turn the ball, unlike the modern-day leg-spinners.

  12. NZ 52-2published at 7 overs

I do enjoy watching a leggie. Especially one who gives the ball a bit of air rather than just darting it into the pitch.

Sri Lanka's Dushan Hemantha is just such a bowler and quickly beats the sweep of Rachin Ravindra.

The Kiwi left-hander hits back next ball with another superb driving, back past the bowler for four.

Glenn Phillips chips down the ground for two to make it eight from the over.

It still looks a good surface to bat on. Apart from a bit of spin, the ball is still coming on to the bat quite nicely.

We have seen some terrific strokes from Rachin Ravindra. Some of his shots have shown the ball is coming onto the bat nicely.

  14. NZ 44-2published at 6 overs

Really good over from the wily Maheesh Theekshana to end the powerplay.

Two from the last make it five from the over but there was nearly another wicket with Glenn Phillips beaten all ends up by a beauty that just spun away from him.

But a scratch of an edge onto his hip takes the ball wide of the wicketkeeper and away for a single.

That's a brilliant shot from Rachin Ravindra. He watched it coming across beautifully, got on top of the bounce, got a nice stride into the ball and drove it excellently.

    An excellent bit of timing.

  16. NZ 39-2published at 5 overs

That is a glorious stroke from Rachin Ravindra.

Angled across the left-hander but he meets the ball on the up and crashes it through the covers with perfect timing. Four runs.

Brilliant response from Dushmantha Chameera, nipping one back to beat the bat to end the over.

One over left in the powerplay.

Dushmantha Chameera is Sri Lanka's spearhead, he bowls a great pace with that long run-up.

A really good catch from Kamindu Mendis, he had to time it perfectly. He isn't a big man so he just had to try to take it above his head.

    Seifert c Kamindu b Chameera 8 (NZ 34-2)

Dushmantha Chameera strikes with his second ball!

It's back of a length and picked up nicely off the hip by Tim Seifert but it's a reasonably long square boundary that side and he can't clear the fielder.

Kamindu Mendis isn't the tallest but jumps to take a good catch at deep backward square.

Two wickets in six balls for Sri Lanka.

Very good first over from Maheesh Theekshana.

Just three singles from it and the important wicket of Finn Allen, who had got off to such a good start.

Rachin Ravindra is in at three for the Black Caps.
