  1. Eng 113-6published at 24 overs

A tidy over from Shivam Dube whose military medium seamers are holding up an end nicely for Shubman Gill.

You have to say the India captain has managed to get his bowling changes spot on today.

Good length pace deliveries have passed the stumps at an average height of 0.85 cm in this match - that's about 7cm higher than the average for ODIs in England in the last five years.

You've kept the receipts. Robin. I admire that.

Shivam Dube continues with the wicketkeeper up to Joe Root, who dabs it into the off side for a single.

Timothy’s quote of “unless England have a really big meltdown” leads me to believe he’s never watched England before.

I admit it's not the most pressing matter, but Brydon Carse has been added to the England ODI squad.

He's not played for England since the fifth Ashes Test because of wrist and elbow injuries. I'm not entirely sure fast bowling is England's problem right now, but Carse has batted at three in a Test.

  7. Eng 110-6published at 23 overs

Gurnoor Brar offers one a little short to Joe Root who cuffs it away to backward point for a single.

The TV cameras pan to England's dressing room where there are a lot of forlorn expressions.

Not sure why Liam Dawson is playing ahead of Rehan. Dawson and Rashid coming to the end of their careers and Rehan is the future. Needs as much international exposure as possible before he has massive boots to fill in World Cups.

  9. Eng 108-6published at 22 overs

Liam Dawson is the next man in for England. He's off the mark with a single off Shivam Dube to keep the strike.

Still 28 overs to go in England's innings... although how many of those they bat remains to be seen.

Just a little nibble from Will Jacks. Decent ball, line and length was there just on fourth stump. Jacks got a thick outside edge, fantastic reaction catch from KL Rahul. That could be a huge breakthrough for India.

Jacks looked all right, England in all sorts of trouble here. Joe Root has been able to get no momentum, he's just been watching the procession at the other end.

That's a fabulous catch by KL Rahul. Great reaction catch.

A run-a-ball 20 and Will Jacks is on his way back to the pavilion.

It's a superb take from India wicketkeeper KL Rahul who dives to take a stunning one-handed grab after Shivam Dube draws a thick-ish edge from the bat of Will Jacks.

England in a bit of a mess here.

All three of India's frontline quicks have been operating above the 85mph mark so far in this match, with Bumrah surprisingly the 'slowest' of the frontline bowlers on display. Average speeds today: Gurnoor Brar (87.8 mph), Prasidh Krishna (87.0 mph), Jasprit Bumrah (86.1 mph).

Joe Root is going to have to check behind his bed at night to make sure there isn't a wicketkeeper standing there.

Will Jacks looking a bit more comfortable now.

Gurnoor Brar offers a couple of scoring opportunities and Jacks grabs them with both hands.

The England all-rounder whips a four through wicket and then next ball stylishly pulls it behind square for another.

If Joe Root had gone there, England would've been out by 35 overs.

Was the plan to defend the first 10 overs and then try swing at everything? We’ve shown we can beat them 4-0 in T20s but without an ODI strategy we’re just gifting them the game with these loose shots.

    Tom in Birmingham

The lack of adaptability and backbone from this team is really shocking at times. Zero problems in the 20-over format, but we're set to be all wrapped up in 20 a few days later despite the format change. Did McCullum offer anything at all to help them adjust?

    Marko M, London

McCullum has to go. In every format this swinging like you're trying to kill a wasp is not how to get results.
