Sussex 237-8 (trail Surrey by 27 runs)

Tom Haines' first ball, which is actually his second, whistles past the bat.

Surrey know they still need two wickets to win.

  2. Postpublished at 14:35 BST 4 May

    Kent v Derbys 142-9 (target 384)

    How often does this happen?!

The game is as good as done and a side just can't shift the last wicket.

Luis Reece has just passed fifty and Shoaib Bashir has batted 30 balls for his eight not out.

Tear b Topley 61 (Sussex 237-8, trail by 27 runs)

Chopped on! Surrey getting closer to a first Championship win of the season.

Reece Topley bowls round the wicket to the right-handed Charlie Tear, who attempts a cut but he gets a bottom edge on to his stumps.

And here comes Tom Haines - the opener is fit to bat again.

  4. Postpublished at 14:33 BST 4 May

Sussex 237-7 (trail Surrey by 27 runs)

Now it's not so quiet! Ollie Robinson is taking a liking to Ryan Patel's bowling, chopping a wide one to the point boundary before lofting him over the leg side for another four.

He takes a two off the final ball of the over and Surrey are possibly looking at having to bat again.

  5. Postpublished at 14:32 BST 4 May

Sussex 227-7 (trail Surrey by 37 runs)

You feel that Surrey are just waiting for the 80-over mark so they can get a new ball in their hand and finish this off.

There's still seven overs before that can happen and Sussex are quietly chipping away, with Charlie Tear on 61 and Ollie Robinson on 18.

  6. 100 up for Somersetpublished at 14:29 BST 4 May

Somerset 100-4 (need 160 more runs to beat Yorks)

Thomas Rew takes a single from Dom Bess and that brings up 100 for Somerset. This could still go either way.

  7. wicket

    Yusuf b Hadley 15 (Hants 214 & 241-9 f/o v Glam 536-7d)

Ryan Hadley has beaten Codi Yusuf for pace and line and uprooted his off stump.

Yusuf plays outside it and the ball snakes through between inside edge and pad and rattles wood.

Glam are just one wicket away from a first win in the top flight since 2005.

  8. Postpublished at 14:27 BST 4 May

Somerset 97-4 (need 163 more runs to beat Yorks)

Thomas Rew, the 18-year-old younger brother of James Rew, joins Josh Thomas at the crease.

It's his first County Championship appearance and, after a duck in the first innings, he gets off the mark in the competition with a boundary off Dom Bess.

Thomas then scores four off Logan van Beek.

  9. 'Experience would be sensible for Somerset'published at 14:25 BST 4 May

    Somerset 98-4 (Target 260) v Yorkshire

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It's a very talented order for Somerset, with Josh Thomas out there with Thomas Rew and Will Smeed yet to come, but it is also very inexperienced.

They have 10 games of first-class cricket between the three of them. I just wonder that, if another wicket falls, whether it might not be sensible for Craig Overton or Lewis Gregory to go out there and add a bit of experience into the mix.

  10. Postpublished at 14:20 BST 4 May

    Hants 214 & 239-8 f/o v Glam 536-7d

Ben Brown and Codi Yusuf have added 43 for the ninth wicket with the former having moved to 87 (from 133 balls).

Hants are still 83 runs away from making Glam openers don their pads again but these two are looking fairly comfortable at the moment.

  12. Postpublished at 14:18 BST 4 May

Somerset 85-3 (need 175 more runs to beat Yorks)

This partnership is looking dangerous for Yorkshire, with Tom Abell getting boundaries in successive overs off Logan van Beek and Dom Bess.

  13. Postpublished at 14:17 BST 4 May

Sussex 208-7 (trail Surrey by 56 runs)

Ollie Robinson made a century in the first innings, declaring with himself unbeaten on 100.

He is looking good in the second dig too, guiding Sean Abbott to the third man boundary.

  15. Ball change at The Ovalpublished at 14:14 BST 4 May

Sussex 204-7 (trail Surrey by 60 runs)

There are 10.2 overs left until the second new cherry is available, but for now there will be a new old ball, as the current one doesn't go through the umpires' contraption.

  16. 50 partnershippublished at 14:10 BST 4 May

Somerset 74-3 (need 186 more runs to beat Yorks)

Josh Thomas tucks George Hill through backward square leg for four to bring up the 50 stand between him and Tom Abell.

Hill then responds by beating a forward defensive.

  17. Ball change at Tauntonpublished at 14:06 BST 4 May

Somerset 68-3 (need 192 more runs to beat Yorks)

The ball which has been used for 34.3 overs has now been changed due to its condition.

Yorkshire have a similarly aged one to use now.

  18. 200 up for Sussexpublished at 14:05 BST 4 May

Sussex 200-7 (trail Surrey by 64 runs)

The first innings deficit for Sussex was 264. They have eliminated the first digit.

The next target is to remain unscathed for the next hour or so at the very least, when the second new ball will be coming.

  19. Postpublished at 14:03 BST 4 May

Somerset 68-3 (need 192 more runs to beat Yorks)

The shackles come off a little at Taunton as Tom Abell plays a gorgeous on drive for four. It was timed perfectly.
