WICKETpublished at 15:54 BST 4 May

Patel lbw b Coles 0 (Surrey 1-2, need another 13 runs to beat Sussex)

    Two for James Coles!

He fires one in flatter and Ryan Patel is struck in front.

If Sussex had managed to get a bigger lead, this could have been very interesting.

    Ollie Pope joins Dom Sibley.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:53 BST 4 May

Burns lbw b Coles 1 (Surrey 1-1, need another 13 runs to beat Sussex)

But James Coles does strike with his fourth ball of the over!

Rory Burns goes to sweep and is trapped lbw.

Earlier, he'd survived an appeal for a catch at slip which must have deflected off his body.

  3. Postpublished at 15:49 BST 4 May

Surrey 1-0 (need another 13 runs to beat Sussex)

...and Rory Burns is beaten by the hat-trick delivery, but he survives.

  4. Postpublished at 15:48 BST 4 May

Surrey 1-0 (need another 13 runs to beat Sussex)

Dom Sibley sees off some lively medium pace from Tom Haines without much alarm.

  5. Postpublished at 15:46 BST 4 May

Surrey 1-0 (need another 13 runs to beat Sussex)

Rory Burns clips Tom Haines' second ball to a fielder in the deep for the first run.

  6. Surrey start run chasepublished at 15:44 BST 4 May

Surrey 0-0 (need another 14 runs to beat Sussex)

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley stride out to the crease after an early tea break, knowing they need only 14 runs for victory.

Tom Haines has the ball in hand.

    How long will this take?

    Middx 430 & 144-4 (lead by 7 runs) v Durham 567

Slightly gloomy overhead in St John's Wood but Durham will feel a little brighter having chipped out Ben Geddes just before the interval.

Umpires decided the light was only good enough for spin but with six wickets still to take Durham will be hoping it brightens up for the final session.

  8. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:41 BST 4 May

Somerset 167-7 (need another 93 runs to beat Yorkshire)

Will Smeed hits the last ball of the afternoon session to the boundary.

He goes to the tea break on 17 not out, Lewis Gregory has 10.

Somerset need 93 from a minimum of 29 overs. Yorkshire require three wickets.

What a final session in store.

  9. Down to double digitspublished at 15:39 BST 4 May

Somerset 162-7 (need another 98 runs to beat Yorkshire)

Lewis Gregory gets two from Joe Root's bowling and the target now is under 100, but Yorkshire need only three more wickets.

  10. Postpublished at 15:33 BST 4 May

    Middx 430 & 136-4 v Durham 567

Umpires have a confab in the middle and Ben McKinney is being brought on in place of Kasey Aldridge.

Not sure whether the light has got to the stage where it is 'spin only' but the opener will have a go and starts with a tidy maiden over.

Callum Parkinson replaces Matthew Potts at the other end so evidently the meeting was about the light.

    Joe Root strikes again!

Craig Overton had taken 17 balls to get off the mark, but the very next delivery he falls victim to a superb reaction catch at short leg by Adam Lyth.

Lewis Gregory enters the stage and cuts his second ball for four.

    All action here.

  12. 150 up for Somersetpublished at 15:32 BST 4 May

Somerset 150-6 (need another 110 runs to win)

Will Smeed attempts to swat away a fairly ordinary delivery from Joe Root but a good bit of fielding keeps him to a single, which brings up Somerset's 150.

WICKET & TEA - SURREY NEED 14 TO WINpublished at 15:28 BST 4 May

Crocombe lbw b Fisher 4 (Sussex 277 all out)

Henry Crocombe flicks Matthew Fisher away to the square leg boundary for four, but is immediately trapped dead in front with the next delivery.

Sussex have avoided an innings defeat - which looked likely at the start of the day - but Surrey will need just 14 runs to clinch their first Championship win of the season.

An early tea has been taken.

  14. 'Yorkshire have runs to play with'published at 15:28 BST 4 May

    Somerset 148-6 (Target 260) v Yorkshire

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

I would not say I've got Yorkshire down as warm favourites myself, but I would say they are favourites now.

Stick a seventh wicket on it and you might be getting warmer, particularly if it was to be Will Smeed given the rate at which he can score.

Yorkshire have got a few runs to play with now, they have bought themselves that.

We know this pair like to put bat to ball, so they could be heroes by scoring a fair few each quickly, but if they play in an attacking style and get out it would probably be more like zeroes.

  15. Postpublished at 15:25 BST 4 May

Somerset 147-6 (need 113 more runs to beat Yorks)

Craig Overton has come out to join Will Smeed, who picks up a boundary off Dom Bess.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 BST 4 May

Robinson c Smith b Clark 42 (Sussex 272-9, lead Surrey by 8 runs)

Surrey finally remove the Sussex skipper for the first time in the match.

Jordan Clark gets it in the right area and Robinson duly nicks behind. He made an unbeaten 100 in the first innings and looked good for 42 in the second, ensuring his team didn't face an innings defeat.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 BST 4 May

    Geddes c Robinson b Raine 26 (Middx 135-4, trail by 2 runs)

The Lord's slope does it's thing as Ben Raine gets one to seam away from Ben Geddes and take a nick which Ollie Robinson gratefully pouches.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 BST 4 May

    T. Rew c Bairstow b Root 30 (Somerset 142-6, need 118 more runs to beat Yorks)

Joe Root gets in on the act and Somerset are six down.

Thomas Rew tries to cut but gets a fine edge through to Jonny Bairstow.

Pendulum swings back in favour of Yorkshire again.

  19. Postpublished at 15:18 BST 4 May

Somerset 142-5 (need 118 more runs to beat Yorks)

The new Somerset batter, Will Smeed, sweeps Dom Bess to the rope.

As you might expect at Taunton, the spin twins of Bess and Joe Root continue in tandem.

  20. 'A really gritty effort'published at 15:17 BST 4 May

    Somerset 142-5 (Target 260) v Yorkshire

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A fine innings from Josh Thomas, a really gritty effort in trying to anchor this innings as Somerset try and chase down 260.

He won't have had much experience against top-class spin on a turning wicket, and he has acquitted himself very well indeed.
