  1. 50 runs

for Tearpublished at 13:02 BST 4 May

Sussex 175-6 (trail Surrey by 89 runs)

Excellent knock from Charlie Tear, on his first Championship appearance in nearly three years.

He drives to mid-on, takes a quick single and benefits from an overthrow, too, to bring up his half century.

  2. 50 up for Somersetpublished at 12:56 BST 4 May

Somerset 52-3 (need 208 more runs to beat Yorks)

Applause around Taunton as Somerset chalk up the first landmark in their run chase, reaching 50 in the 26th over.

Spinner Dom Bess is back on to replace paceman Jhye Richardson.

  3. 50 partnershippublished at 12:54 BST 4 May

Sussex 169-6 (trail Surrey by 95 runs)

The stand between Charlie Tear and Jack Carson goes past 50, before Carson drives down the ground for another boundary.

These two have taken 40 off the last six overs.

  4. 6 runs

Carson on the chargepublished at 12:51 BST 4 May

Sussex 159-6 (trail Surrey by 105 runs)

Jack Carson, a centurion in the first innings, is showing his ability with the bat again.

First, he goes aerial over mid-off off Dan Lawrence and clears the rope, before playing the shot of the innings with a casual pick up to dump Reece Topley into the stand over mid-wicket.

  5. dropped catch

Slater dropped on 15published at 12:49 BST 4 May

    Leics v Notts 25-0 (target 73)

Ben Slater gets a life as Ian Holland gets an edge and it is spilled behind the stumps.

Ben Cox throws out a glove and tips it just out of the hands of Rishi Patel at first slip.

  6. Root watch: he's bowlingpublished at 12:48 BST 4 May

Somerset 48-3 (need 212 more runs to beat Yorks)

With spin looking threatening, Joe Root is on to bowl. Four comes from it, although Tom Abell keeps short mid-wicket vaguely interested with a shot that just evades the dive.

Root didn't bowl in the first innings but took four wickets in the match against Sussex at Headingley last week.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:46 BST 4 May

    Du Plooy c Robinson b Raine 15 (Middlesex 430 & 53-3 v Durham 567)

    Durham are all over Middlesex.

It's a second wicket for Ben Raine and third catch behind the stumps for Ollie Robinson as the dangerous Leus du Plooy goes.

Middlesex still need 84 to make Durham bat again.

  8. Postpublished at 12:45 BST 4 May

Sussex 145-6 (trail Surrey by 119 runs)

Charlie Tear was out for a duck in the first innings, but has reached 42 second time around.

He despatches a loose one from Reece Topley and then finds a boundary fielder for a single.

After Jack Carson matches that, Tear runs another quick one. That's 16 off the last two overs against an ageing ball.

  9. Postpublished at 12:41 BST 4 May

Sussex 138-6 (trail Surrey by 126 runs)

A boundary for Charlie Tear off Dan Lawrence means Sussex have now done half of the hard work to make Surrey bat again.

He then clips a ball past leg slip for two more, before taking a single into mid wicket.

Jack Carson goes back to the final delivery of the over and works the ball through backward point for a couple more. A productive six balls for Sussex.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:39 BST 4 May

    Abbott c Ingram b Crane 1 (Hants 196-8 f/o trail by 126 runs)

Kyle Abbott looks to cut this off the back foot but Mason Crane finds the edge and Colin Ingram takes the catch at slip at the second attempt.

Hants are still plenty of runs adrift of making Glamorgan's openers bat again and Crane has 3-38 to go with his 3-31 in the first innings.

  11. Postpublished at 12:38 BST 4 May

Sussex 129-6 (trail Surrey by 135 runs)

Jack Carson narrowly survives a beaut from Reece Topley, who is bowling a probing length across the right-hander.

It's a good job there wasn't an edge as Jamie Smith behind the stumps changes his mind as it comes towards him as to whether to take it palms up or down, and he spills it as a result.

  12. Postpublished at 12:30 BST 4 May

Somerset 34-3 (need 226 more runs to beat Yorks)

Tom Abell is just starting to get into his work now, with two boundaries off George Hill through the leg side.

An hour or so of him will tilt the balance back in the home side's favour.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:29 BST 4 May

    Currie lbw b Crane 25 (Hants 194-7 f/o trail by 128 runs)

Scott Currie stands and stares after getting in a long stride forward to Mason Crane but the finger is up.

Replays show there is not much doubt it would have hit the stumps.

Glamorgan are three wickets away from victory and Kyle Abbott is the new batsman.

  14. 'Can he keep it more simple?'published at 12:27 BST 4 May

Somerset 26-3 v Yorkshire (Somerset need 234 more runs to win)

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

If there has been one criticism of Dom Bess, in his time at Yorkshire as a bowler, it would be that he has tried to bowl too many wicket-taking balls.

That sounds ridiculous, but searching for it too often, changing things too much, not relying on a stock ball, drop, drop, drop and then a bit of variation. There has been too much going on.

It is hard to maintain those skills of having four different, great, balls - there is only one Shane Warne for that reason, because it's not easy to do that.

The criticism has been 'can you keep it more simple, Dom?' Can he keep his discipline today?

  15. Postpublished at 12:26 BST 4 May

Somerset 26-3 (need another 234 to beat Yorks)

Somerset had been suffocated by some excellent Yorkshire bowling, but Tom Abell releases some of the pressure with a boundary and then a single off the otherwise excellent Dom Bess.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 BST 4 May

    Chappell b J Singh 20 (Kent v Derbys 70-7, target 384)

    Three to go for Kent!

Jas Singh gets one through the defences of Zak Chappell in just his second over.

Victory before lunch is back on for the hosts at Canterbury.

  17. 'Middlesex need to see the day out'published at 12:22 BST 4 May

    Middlesex 430 & 31-2 v Durham 567

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It's an eerie day in St John's Wood. It's murky and the lights are on. It will be interesting to see if this provides good bowling conditions.

Earlier Matty Potts and Callum Parkinson came out swinging and added 37 runs in no time. Their partnership ended on 71 when Potts was run out by the keeper on 38.

A few moments later Parkinson tried to hook Sebastian Morgan and top-edged to the keeper on 28. Durham were all out for 567 and a lead of 137.

As Middlesex came out to bat there were 88 overs left in the day.

Sam Robson was then caught behind for one in the third over off Potts, before the bowler removed Joshua De Caires for 10 with a snorter of a ball.

It rose sharply off a length and clipped his glove on the way through to Ollie Robinson. It left Middlesex struggling on 27-2 and still 110 behind. Can Durham make something happen this afternoon on a track which, until now, has looked rather sedate?

Get Involvedpublished at 12:21 BST 4 May

    Somerset 21-3 (target 260) v Yorkshire

Is George Hill an England contender? Or is he a touch too lacking in MPH to work at the top level? His first-class record is superb.

    Phil - London

144 first-class wickets at an average of 22.60. That's up there with the best of them.

  19. Postpublished at 12:20 BST 4 May

    Leics 308 & 254 v Notts 490 & 1-0 (Target 73)

Captain to captain as Ian Holland has Haseeb Hameed in his sights as Notts get this chase under way.

After a couple of dots Hameed steers a single to third man.

  20. Postpublished at 12:19 BST 4 May

    Kent v Derbys 67-6 (target 384)

Zak Chappell and Luis Reece have just taken the sting out of things for Derbyshire, but they're still in huge trouble at Canterbury.

These two visiting batters will be desperate to see things out until lunch. But that's 40 minutes away.
