New Zealand have started very nicely after a maiden in the first over. Dawson's first over was pretty decent too but they've really caught up.

It's a hot and sweaty kind of day out there. We had towels come out after four overs.

  2. NZ 54-0published at 6 overs

Slight misfield at square leg and New Zealand can take two from the last ball of the over.

Powerplay over and, despite a maiden to start, it's a good one for the Black Caps.

Both openers are still there and starting to see the ball nicely.

There was a time when nobody could hit Sam Curran's moon ball... that time is over.

The England left-arm seamer tries it second ball here and Finn Allen waits before powering it high over cow corner for six.

That brings up the fifty partnership.

Was it the right decision [to bowl Archer for three in a row]? I know Archer was all over him like a rash but Tim Seifert has got into his groove.

That's terrific contact! Tim Seifert is starting to see it beautifully now. He's lined up Jofra Archer - four, four, six.

  6. NZ 44-0published at 5 overs

Tim Seifert is doing his best to hit himself back into form - and it might just be working!

He hammers the ball over cover for four, slightly mistimes the next but still gets four over mid-off... then demolishes the next on the hook, high into the stands over deep mid-wicket.

Big over for New Zealand, taking Jofra Archer for 16.

Liam Dawson is such a canny bowler. You feel he should have come into the England set-up sooner. Better late than never.

If Tim Seifert was in decent nick and timing the ball well, he would have hit that straight down long-off's throat.

  9. NZ 28-0published at 4 overs

Finn Allen is going nicely but Tim Seifert is still struggling.

He advances to the last ball and looks to follow Allen's lead is hitting big down the ground but ends up skewing it high over extra cover.

It lands safely and he has to settle for a single.

  10. 6 runs

    NZ 24-0published at 3.2 overs

    Finn Allen goes again!

A little skip down the track to Liam Dawson before launching the ball back over the spinner's head for his second maximum.

Jofra Archer was all over the New Zealand openers in his first two overs, inducing eight false shots. Across the tournament no bowler has forced more false shots inside the powerplay than Archer's 34.

  12. NZ 17-0published at 3 overs

Nine from the over in total but, that one slower ball that went the distance aside, another good one from Jofra Archer.

Given the aggression of the New Zealand openers, going for eight from two overs in the powerplay is a very good effort.

If there's any duo in world cricket that are going to hit Jofra Archer for six, it's going to be these two.

Archer will be fuming with himself as well. It was a slower ball, he took pace off, and it was in the slot. Finn Allen was able to launch it.

  14. 6 runs

    NZ 15-0published at 2.3 overs

Beaten by a snorter from Jofra Archer the ball before, Finn Allen could not be less bothered... and launches the next high over long-on for six.

Some shot after the one prior had jumped sharply to whistle past his outside edge.

There's a 13m difference between the two square boundaries tonight. The shorter side is just a 62m hit. Expect that to play a part.

Tim Seifert sweepsImage source, Getty Images

The previous ball Seifert tried the reverse sweep. He hadn't been able to get the ball away.

This time, he stepped outside his stumps, exposed them, and swept away.

With a player like Seifert, you expect that when he goes big, he goes big quickly. And some days, he might fail.

  17. NZ 8-0published at 2 overs

Based on that stat from Kieran, it's no surprise that England quickly turn to spin.

Liam Dawson is on to bowl the second over. Finn Allen pushes a single second ball to get New Zealand off the mark.

Tim Seifert has been struggling but manages to connect nicely with a sweep, sending it up and over backward square leg before bouncing away to the boundary.

  18. How's stat?!published at 13:36 GMT 27 February

    Kieran Parmley

Spinners averaged 3.3° of turn during the last game here between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, considerably more than the next highest for any game in this competition (2.7°, Pakistan vs Namibia, Sinhalese Sports Club Ground).

A really lovely piece of bowling from Jofra Archer.

What a start to this game - a maiden over against Tim Seifert.

  20. NZ 0-0published at 1 over

No wicket by the end of a superb opening over from Jofra Archer. A maiden.

Quick, fiery stuff from the England seamer. Nipping the ball back at 90mph-plus.
