Another strong performance by W. Eather for Kent!

    Harry, Tunbridge Wells

Vic and his groundstaff team have seen some ridiculous weather over the years at Durham, but I suspect having to rescue a cover from a stand with no floor is a new one even for them.

    Sam, Gateshead

Maybe we could do something similar to the Indian domestic competitions and give bonus points for first innings leads?

    Northants 258 v Lancs 384 & 18-3

    Harry ConwayImage source, Getty Images

Harry Conway will go into lunch on a hat-trick which is a shame for him as he almost certainly would have preferred to have a crack at new batsman Michael Jones while he was hot.

Northants are still behind in this game but a stubborn 10th wicket partnership between Lewis McManus and Conway and now two very good catches will give them hope.

Louis Kimber's catch to dismiss Josh Bohannon was a stunner and McManus's to get George Bell first ball was not bad either.

Back in 30 minutes or so to see whether he can bag a hat-trick. Don't be late.

    Middx 445-9 dec v Glos 205-9

Play is still continuing at Lord's because Gloucestershire are nine wickets down.

The 200 came up a few minutes ago when Gabe Bell pushed Zafar Gohar to mid-off for a single - but the deficit is 240.

  4. Hants undone by 'relentless accuracy'published at 13:16 BST 5 April

    Hampshire 139-9 v Essex 461-7 dec

    Kevan James

The Essex seam bowlers gave the Hampshire batting a torrid time this morning with their relentless accuracy.

If Hampshire were looking for a fightback, Porter, Cook and Snater had other ideas, picking up four wickets in the first 50 minutes.

As has been the case throughout the game once the ball gets a little softer, so batting becomes easier.

Kyle Abbott coming in at number nine hit 35 off just 43 balls with eight fours, but the damage had already been done.

Who says spinners don’t come into their own until the heat of high summer? Clearly nobody told Glamorgan’s Mason Crane.

Leg-spinner Crane claimed three wickets to thwart Yorkshire’s progress on a bright but very chilly third day morning session at Sophia Gardens.

Crane struck in a hot second over, having two successful leg before shouts to remove previously comfortable-looking Sam Whitman and then James Wharton, before later bowling Johnny Bairstow’s injury replacement Will Luxton.

Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth took all in his stride, though, playing the anchor role to some effect.

    Bell c McManus b Conway 0 (Northants 258 v Lancs 384 & 18-3)

Harry Conway is on a hat-trick but he will have to wait until after lunch to land it as Lewis McManus takes another good catch diving to leg first ball.

  7. 'Change bowlers lack penetration'published at 13:11 BST 5 April

    Leicestershire 245 v Sussex 361 & 235-6 - lunch

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Ultimately a good morning for Sussex with an unbroken half century partnership between Jack Carson and Tom Price settling Sussex nerves after they'd lost three for 21 in mid-session.

Ian Holland and Ben Green shared the wickets as and have 10 of the 16 picked up by the home side in the game, but the change bowling has lacked penetration and leaked runs, allowing Sussex to build a commanding lead of 351.

With a decent forecast for the rest of the match it's becoming a case of how big a lead Oliie Robinson wants, balanced against how long he'll need to bowl Leicestershire out for a second time.

  8. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:11 BST 5 April

    Warwickshire 435-4 v Surrey 328

Something for both teams on the third morning at Edgbaston as they head for lunch a little later than originally scheduled due to an earlier 25 minute rain interruption .

Surrey made some use of the new ball, available from the start of play, to remove the third wicket pair of Mousley 144 and Hain 96 after they'd taken their stand to beyond 200.

Matthew Fisher and James Taylor were the successful bowlers with Rory Burns needing two attempts to take a slip chance after snatching at it like a child (or grown-up) finding the biggest box on an Easter egg hunt.

Warwickshire have built on their first innings lead taking it to 107.

    Bohannon c Kimber b Conway 4 (Northants 258 v Lancs 384 & 18-2)

Shades of Ben Stokes at Trent Bridge... Take a bow Louis Kimber.... That was spectacular.

Stokes was at fifth slip when he reached out to dismiss Adam Voges in 2015 and that was right up there with Kimber throwing out a hand at third slip to grab an edge.

That was very sharp and is worth seeking out to watch if you have a moment.

    Luxton lbw Crane 14 (Glamorgan 302 v Yorks 113-4)

Will Luxton tries to sweep Mason Crane and is bowled behind his legs.

That's 3-14 from five overs now for the Glamorgan spinner.

Adam Lyth is still there on 35 and Matthew Revis has now joined him to try and see it through to lunch without further damage.

  11. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 13:04 BST 5 April

    Leicestershire 245 v Sussex 361 & 235-6

Leicestershire have fought back well this morning, picking up three wickets either side of a brief rain interruption, but Sussex still hold all the aces at Grace Road.

Ben Green removed James Coles and Jack Leaning in an excellent spell and skipper Ian Holland took the important wicket of John Simpson.

Jack Carson and Tom Price, though, have pushed the lead past 350 with an unbroken stand of 53 - Carson is 48 anout, with his partner on 32.

If Leicestershire are to have a chance of winning this game, they need these remaining wickets in short order following the resumption.

    Middx 445-9 dec v Glos 199-9

Another for ex-Gloucestershire spinner Zafar Gohar who now has 3-43 as Graeme van Buuren tries to cut him away but can only bottom-edge onto his off-stump to depart for 26. He looks immensely frustrated.

We'll now have an extra half-hour before lunch as Middlesex need just one more wicket to secure a big first innings lead.

Gabe Bell and Will Williams are the last-wicket pair.

Lunch at Southamptonpublished at 13:00 BST 5 April

    Hants 139-9 v Essex 461-7d

The morning has belonged to Essex despite a late rally from Kyle Abbott and Eddie Jack but the rain has it just at the moment as the players scurry from the middle.

Lunch will now be taken with Hants trailing by 322 runs and very much behind the eight ball in this match.

  14. Postpublished at 12:59 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 234-6

That's too short from Sam Wood and Tom Price pulls for four.

He doesn't learn the lesson and Price produces the same shot, with the same result, as he and Jack Carson post a 50 partnership for Sussex, who now lead by exactly 350.

A declaration later in the day, you would assume, unless the Foxes can pick up these last four wickets.

    Abbott lbw b Harmer 35 (Hants 139-9 v Essex 461-7d)

Simon Harmer has ended the fun and pinned Kyle Abbott leg before.

The South Africa seamer had played increasingly aggressively for his 35 hitting eight boundaries and might feel he was a little unlucky with that decision.

He got a decent stride in and Harmer had turned it a little towards leg but he is gone and Essex are one wicket away from having a decision to make about the follow-on.

  16. Latest from Lord'spublished at 12:58 BST 5 April

    Middx 445-9 dec v Glos 198-8

Former Gloucestershire spinner Zafar Gohar has picked up his second scalp, tempting Matt Taylor into driving to mid-off where Leus du Plooy takes a tumbling catch to send him on his way for a nine-ball duck.

Graeme van Buuren is still there on 25* but Middlesex need just two more wickets to seal a big first innings lead.

Singh has a solitary run to add to his solitary run in the first innings, both times dismissed by Sanderson.

  18. Postpublished at 12:55 BST 5 April

    Hants 139-8 v Essex 461-7d

Kyle Abbott moves on to 35 with three straight fours and a single off Sam Cook as the Hants pair start to loosen up. Eddie Jack joins the fun with an inside edge off the final delivery as the over goes for 17

They still trail by 322 but they are fighting with the partnership worth 48 runs.

  19. Ogborne brings the morning to lifepublished at 12:54 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 274-6

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A rather disjointed morning's cricket came to life when Somerset took the new ball, and Alfie Ogborne, their hugely-promising 21 year old left arm seamer, took the wickets of Kyle Verreyne and Joe Clarke in his first over with it.

Both were accounted for by the classic left-armer's delivery, slanting across on the angle and then holding its own off the pitch to pin Verreynne LBW and clip the top of Clarke's stumps.

Clarke, who'd looked nailed on for a century, sportingly nodded his approval before turning towards the pavilion.
