WICKETpublished at 13:59 BST 5 April

    Barnard c Burns b Fisher 25 (Warks 437-5 v Surrey 328)

Ed Barnard has a swing at one that didn't bounce much and Rory Burns claims his third slip catch of the innings to give Matthew Fisher his second wicket of the day in the second over after lunch.

Surrey will hope more wickets follow quickly as they try to restrict their first innings deficit which is currently 109.

  2. Postpublished at 13:59 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 296-7

Rob Lord works one beautifully away to the deep square leg boundary after Alfie Ogborne strays across his stumps.

Impeccable timing from Lord and Notts are within four runs of a second batting point.

  3. Postpublished at 13:57 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 247-6

"You've got to give yourselves time because you might not get that many opportunities to win games. Wins are hard to get in the First Division," says BBC Radio Leicester's Richard Rae, while discussing what lead Sussex might want before declaring.

The lead is now 363 - Jack Carson is 53 not out and Ollie Price has 39.

  4. No play before tea at CLSpublished at 13:57 BST 5 April

    Durham 335 &83-2 v Kent 197

The problem with covers being blown into the stands during a storm is that there's nothing to keep the actual playing surface dry.

It's been confirmed there will be no play before tea, but with strong winds and no further rain in the offing, Durham will live in hope of getting the chance to build on that lead of 221 later in the day.

  5. Play resumes in Cardiffpublished at 13:53 BST 5 April

    Glamorgan 302 v Yorks 120-4

Ryan Hadley opens up for Glamorgan after lunch at Sophia Gardens.

He's been tidy enough but it's Mason Crane who has introduced a hungry feline to the Yorkshire pigeons this morning.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:52 BST 5 April

    Jones b Conway 0 (Northants 258 v Lancs 384 & 18-4)

Michael Jones keeps out the hat-trick ball but Harry Conway has the last laugh bagging his man next ball to take THREE wickets in FOUR balls.

What a start for Northants and Conway who now has 3-4 from four overs.

Conway full and accurate as Jones digs out the hat-trick ball but the Lancs batter has no answer to one that nips back to beat his defensive push and rock his middle stump.

  7. Postpublished at 13:51 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 242-6

    Definitely not a chance.

Tom Price opens the face and runs a ball from Ben Green down past the sole slip fielder for a boundary to third man.

    Sussex lead by 358.

  8. Latest from Derbypublished at 13:51 BST 5 April

    Derbys 625-8 dec v Worcs 183-3

Adam Hose (30*) and Brett D'Oliveira (17*) have amassed a quickfire 41 for this fourth Pears wicket and the deficit has ticked down to just 442 with seven wickets standing.

  9. Postpublished at 13:49 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 288-7

Liam Patterson-White has absolutely hammered a cut shot from one which was not particularly wide from Craig Overton through extra cover for four runs. Wonderfully sweet violence.

12 runs shy of a second batting point now, and he'll now be key to determining how many the Champions end up with.

After last year's abysmal season long batting display.....it seems Hampshire have learned nothing (139-9 today )...another tough year following them ahead !!!

    Graham, Somerset

The signs may not be good this morning, but it's day three of match one of a long season, Graham. Keep the faith.

for Jack Carsonpublished at 13:45 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 237-6

    Jack CarsonImage source, Shutterstock

A new over from spinner Rehan Ahmed and a single for Jack Carson takes him to 50 from 94 balls. A good innings for his side - it's the 13th time he has registered a half-century in first-class cricket, but only one of the previous 12 was turned into a three-figure score.

  12. Postpublished at 13:43 BST 5 April

    Leics 245 v Sussex 361 & 235-6

Ben Green - Leicestershire's best bowler in this match - will resume after lunch. Jack Carson is on strike for Sussex.

Good news for Foxes fans is that New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel has now arrived and will presumably be available for Friday's game with Surrey at The Oval.

Alfie Ogborne celebrates the wicket of Lyndon JamesImage source, Shutterstock

    He's at it again...

Poor Lyndon James is expecting this one to swing back like the ones which gave Alfie Ogborne his first two wickets before lunch but this one doesn't swing and actually moves away a little to find the edge and go through to James Rew.

Ogborne is pumped up at the moment.

Rob Lord joins Patterson-White with Notts seeking some divine intervention to avoid surrendering a first-innings deficit.

  14. Postpublished at 13:38 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 283-6

Alfie Ogborne strays a little wide with a couple, allowing Lyndon James to steer the ball to the rope at backward point with an open face and then punch through the covers for another boundary.

Ogborne almost gets his revenge with a big appeal for LBW but nothing doing, says the umpire. Maybe heading down leg?

  16. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:36 BST 5 April

    Middlesex 445-9d v Gloucestershire 214-9

Gabe Bell and Will Williams have negotiated the extra 30 minutes and stalled the hosts' momentum but it's still been a good morning's work for Middlesex who have taken five wickets for the addition of 98 runs.

Toby Roland-Jones has completed a fivefer while spinner Zafar Gohar claimed three scalps against his old club.

Miles Hammond departed for a fine 77 but no other Gloucestershire batter reached 30 and they remain 231 runs in arrears with one wicket in hand.

Lunchtime discussion will surely be do the hosts enforce the follow-on or perhaps prefer to rattle off a quick 200-odd more this afternoon before having a crack at the visitors in the final session and tomorrow in pursuit of victory?

  17. Warwickshire 'can dictate terms'published at 13:35 BST 5 April

    Warwickshire 435-4 v Surrey 328 - lunch

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Despite losing 20 minutes to a shower only the groundstaff seemed to realise was coming, Warwickshire still added more than 100 in the first session, and can dictate terms from here.

They lost only the overnight pair after their giant partnership.

Sam Hain fell just short of what would have been a first hundred in 18 months, lbw to a well-directed outswinger from Matt Fisher, but Dan Mousley extended his maiden century at this level to 144, still driving dreamily through the covers, until pushing a ball from James Taylor to slip.

Surrey were largely in retreat in the field by then, although the four seamers plugged away all morning with the new ball.

There were still a few too many easy balls to pick off though, a story told by the high boundary count and the overall rhythm of the innings continuing at more than four an over.

Beau Webster and Ed Barnard may try to force it higher this afternoon, the new Bears captain having evidently started the season in a bit of nick, lacing two of his first three balls through to the cover boundary.

  18. Play resumes in Derbypublished at 13:31 BST 5 April

    Derbys 625-8 dec v Worcs 159-3

Conditions have improved at Derby following the rain interruptions of this morning and play has now resumed.

Worcestershire are 468 behind and have a lot of hard graft ahead of them if they are to avoid the prospect of following on.

  19. Afternoon session under way at Tauntonpublished at 13:30 BST 5 April

    Somerset 347 v Notts 274-6

After the second rain interruption of the day prompted an early lunch, we're back out in glorious sunshine for the afternoon session.

Notts trail by 73 runs with four wickets in hand after that blitz with the new ball from Alfie Ogborne.

Liam Patterson-White and Lyndon James are in the middle and 26 runs shy of a second batting bonus point.

The hosts have two bowling points already and will be keen to establish a first-innings lead this afternoon.

    Buckle up...

  20. Riverside open again after Storm Davepublished at 13:27 BST 5 April

    Durham 335 & 83-2 v Kent 197

Banks Homes RiversideImage source, Martin Emmerson/BBC Newcastle

Better news from the Riverside where Durham have announced that the ground is now open again to spectators after damage caused by Storm Dave overnight prevented any play this morning.

However, the pitch is still damp and there is no inspection planned by the umpires at the present time.
