    Burns c Luxton b Richardson 24 (Yorkshire 486 v Surrey 34-1)

What a superb delivery from Jhye Richardson!

With the following delivery after Rory Burns edges past the slip cordon for four, Richardson comes back and this one jumps up massively on Burns.

Burns tries to keep it down but it loops up straight to Will Luxton who makes a simple catch at gully.

Pretty much unplayable from Richardson - the bounce he managed to generate was superb.

Yorkshire make their first strike of the day.

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 35-1

The pitch continues to play well - though we don't yet know if it will take any turn for Jack Leach and the Sussex spinners Jack Carson and James Coles.

And as if by magic - here comes Jack Leach to bowl for the first time in the innings.

  3. Postpublished at 11:22 BST 17 May

    Yorkshire 486 v Surrey 34-0

Jhye Richardson continues to race in over the wicket and finds the outside edge of Rory Burns.

Burns plays with soft hands and the ball does not carry before going through the slip cordon and for four.

  4. Postpublished at 11:21 BST 17 May

    Hants 214 v Notts 138-3

Kyle Abbott is down one knee imploring the umpire to give that one.

Jack Haynes, who has just the two singles this morning, walks across his stumps looking to attack and a full ball strikes him on the back pad.

    Not out.

The South African is appealing again next ball but it's not so beseeching and not so close.

Haynes pushes the final ball down the ground and it beats the fielder for four to ruin the maiden.

    Snater c Cox b Holland 0 (Essex 293 v Leics 333)

    Shane SnaterImage source, Shutterstock

The answer to our previous question is 'no'.

Having almost played on earlier in the over, Shane Snater nicks Ian Holland through to the keeper and Leicestershire wrap up Essex's first innings with a 40-run lead.

Holland finishes with 4-54 and Wiaan Mulder runs out of partners on 79 not out.

    Gloucs 154 & 25-3 v Northants 127 - lead by 52

Awkward defending from Ollie Price, who is late on the ball from Harry Conway and jabs it down just in front of the crease.

He tries to nudge a ball between the three slips and gully but doesn't clear the field.

Another maiden over from Harry Conway and Ollie Price is still looking for his first run after 24 deliveries.

  7. wicket

    Balderson c Roderick b Swanepoel 19 (Lancs 37-1 v Worcs 270)

Beyers Swanepoel makes the breakthrough for Worcestershire.

George Balderson nicks on through and Gareth Roderick makes an excellent diving catch to his left behind the stumps.

Josh Bohannon walks to the middle for the Red Rose.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:15 BST 17 May

    Webster c Ingram b Norton 21 (Warks 141-7 v Glam 360)

The Bears lose a seventh as Beau Webster aims a big drive at Tom Norton.

The ball straightens and the outside edge flies low to Colin Ingram at first slip who takes a brilliant grab down by his boots. Norton has a second wicket.

    Ethan Bamber joins Jordan Thompson.

    Harmer b Holland 35 (Essex 293-9 v Leics 333)

Simon Harmer is bowledImage source, Shutterstock

    Oh dear, Simon Harmer.

He walks across his stumps and is bowled behind his legs by Leicestershire skipper Ian Holland.

Shane Snater is the Essex number 11, with Sam Cook and Jamie Porter having been used as nightwatchmen eaerlier in the innings.

Snater is a player who likes to give the ball a good biff - can he hang around and see Wiaan Mulder, who is on 79, to a century?

  10. Postpublished at 11:14 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 34-1

Lovely shot from Dan Hughes, who dispatches and overpitched ball from Craig Overton down the ground for four.

    He moves on to 16.

  11. Postpublished at 11:14 BST 17 May

    Warks 141-6 v Glam 360

Beau Webster picks up the first boundary of the day at Edgbaston.

It's a nice shot through the covers off Ryan Hadley which beats the dive of the fielder.

Jordan Thompson then has to hurry through to make his ground as he's called through for a quick single off Tomm Norton's next over.

Kiran Carlson's throw is not far away from a direct hit.

    Gloucs 154 & 25-3 v Northants 127 - lead by 52

Ben Sanderson bowls... Cameron Bancroft is forward to block and edges just short of Ricardo Vasconcelos at first slip.

Soft hands saved the Gloucestershire captain there.

Overcast in Bristol this morning but mercifully no rain.

Ben Sanderson reached his 627th wicket for Northants in all formats last night and he looks good for one or two more.

  13. Postpublished at 11:13 BST 17 May

    Middx 177 & 17-1 v Derbys 376

Ben Aitchison is human after all.

He overpitches in search of his seventh wicket of the game and Ben Geddes drives straight for four.

  14. Postpublished at 11:12 BST 17 May

    Lancs 36-0 v Worcs 270

Lancashire's Keaton Jennings is a very, very lucky man.

He tentatively plays forward at a delivery from Beyers Swanepoel and finds the inside edge which misses his off stump and runs down behind him for four.

  15. Postpublished at 11:10 BST 17 May

    Hants 214 v Notts 130-3

Jack Haynes picks up a second single of the morning and Kyle Verreynne then plays an extravagant leave as Brad Wheal runs in. Think Steve Smith.

The South African is offered a little width and that's right in his wheelhouse.

He opens his shoulders and cuts square through the offside for the day's first boundary.

  16. Postpublished at 11:10 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 30-1

Nearly but not quite for Alfie Ogborne who gets a bit of shape into Jack Carson, who nearly plays the ball back into his stumps.

    Maiden over.

  17. Postpublished at 11:10 BST 17 May

    Yorkshire 486 v Surrey 22-0

Huge appeal for LBW as Jack White straps Dom Sibley on the pads.

Height looked to be the issue on that occasion but White is immediately asking some questions this morning.

The final ball of the over is beautifully driven by Sibley to long-on for four.

  18. Postpublished at 11:07 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 30-1

Good start for Craig Overton, who draws Dan Hughes forward into a prod and miss outside off stump.

Runs off the sixth ball of the over as the left-hander is on the back foot to drive through cover for four runs - skimming the ball into the player's dugout.

  20. Play under way at the Utilita Bowlpublished at 11:05 BST 17 May

    Hants 214 v Notts 125-3

Notts will be looking to bat their way to a big first-innings lead and force a result after losing so many overs to the weather over the first two days.

It’s Jack Haynes (5*) to face the first ball of the day at the Utilita Bowl from Kyle Abbott who has been

A thick inside edge gets Haynes up and running on day three with a single.

Kyle Verreynne is tucked up by the final ball of the opver which thuds high onto his front pad.

A strangled appeal, but a typically tight over from the South African.
