Bamber is the highest scorer in the Bears innings and is 11 short of a half-century.

Timm van der Gugten into the attack for Ryan Hadley.

Ethan Bamber looks to defend the fourth ball and edges it between his legs and Jordan Thompson sets off for a single.

It brings up a rapid 50-run stand for the eighth wicket - off just 57 balls. Bamber has 34 of them, which tells a story.

The Bears need 20 more to avoid the follow-on.

  8. Postpublished at 11:58 BST 17 May

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 67-2

Dan Hughes is on the sweep to spinner Jack Leach and survives a muted appeal for LBW.

Leg slip takes the catch - a good plan comes off for Yorkshire!

Good bowling from George Hill, whose nice and straight to Dom Sibley.

Sibley looks to glance off his pads backward of square but its uppish and Dom Bess takes a really sharp catch at leg slip.

Anywhere else, that would have been four - both of Surrey's openers are now back in the shed inside the first hour of day three.

Delano Potgieter into the attack for Hampshire, replacing Brad Wheal, and he strikes with his fourth ball.

He gets some movement off a helpful pitch and Jack Haynes, looking to keep it down, instead edges it low to first slip where Toby Albert takes a fine low catch, juggling at the second attempt.

Notts have lost three wickets for two runs as Liam Patterson-White trots to the crease.

    Somerset 526-8 dec v Sussex 57-2

Daniel Hughes has swept well against Jack Leach, but he's lucky to get away with his latest effort, missing as the ball whistles dangerously close to his stumps on the way to the keeper.

Earlier in the over Hughes unleashed a silky cover drive for four off the same bowler to bring up the innings 50 in 17.1 overs.

    Geddes c Madsen b Hayden 10 (Middx 177 & 20-2 v Derbys 376)

    Boy, does he deserve that.

Rory Haydon finds the egde as Ben Geddes tries to drive and the ball flies into the 'bread basket' of Wayne Madsen at first slip.

Leus du Plooy is the new batter and pulls a short ball away for four. A very un-Haydon like delivery, based on what we've seen so far.

    Seecharan c Brown b Abbott 0 (Hants 214 v Notts 147-5)

Another one for Hampshire and Kyle Abbott.

You have to feel for Sam Seecharan who was called into the side mid-innings as an injury replacement for Freddie McCann and has to face Abbott steaming in.

He pushes forward to a ball which moves away and edges through for Ben Brown to take a regulation catch behind the timbers. A seven-ball duck.

Jack Carson defends Craig Overton to mid on and ducks a bouncer.

The third ball is leg side and keeper James Rew does well to stop that on the dive.

Out! A wide off side ball and Carson has tapped that to Tom Abell at second slip. The night watcher is gone.

Good, low catch moving to his left. here comes Tom Clark.
