  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:39 BST 3 May

    Cox lbw b Patterson-White 0 (Leics 131-6 f/o trail by 51 runs)

Three balls after tea and the Foxes have lost another.

Ben Cox goes down on one knee in an attempt to sweep the left arm spin of Liam Patterson-White but misses and it hits his other knee bang in front.

Not the start Leics needed so soon after tea and the prospect of this lasting into a fourth day is receding.

  2. 'Thomas will never forget this'published at 16:38 BST 3 May

    Surrey 622 v Sussex 358-9 dec

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Adam Thomas' brilliant debut innings comes to an end.

The youngest Surrey player on debut to make a hundred.

Whatever this young man does in the rest of his career, he will never forget this. At the Oval and in front of his home crowd.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:36 BST 3 May

Prest c Cooke b van der Gugten 5 (Hants 27-2 f/o trail by 295 runs)

You can't say this has not been coming...

Tom Prest has survived a couple of lbw shouts but there was no real decision to save him here.

The Hants No 3 has hung a bat out and Timm van der Gugten has found the edge.

Chris Cooke takes a tumbling catch behind.

  4. wicket

WICKET - SURREY 622 ALL OUTpublished at 16:35 BST 3 May

    Topley lbw b Coles 0 (Surrey 622 v Sussex 358-9 dec)

Reece Topley is given out lbw first ball and James Coles is involved in the three final wickets to fall in the space of four deliveries.

After taking the catch to remove Sean Abbott, he then accounts for centurion Adam Thomas and Topley.

Sussex will need to bat for 31 overs this evening, and then most, if not all, of tomorrow.

  5. 'A lovely innings by Abbott'published at 16:34 BST 3 May

    Surrey 622-9 v Sussex 358-9 dec

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

That just looped off the top edge but that was a lovely innings by Sean Abbott.

  6. Postpublished at 16:34 BST 3 May

    Hants 214 & 27-1 f/o v Glam 536-7d

Some big lbw shouts going in from Glamorgan as Tom Prest and Toby Albert are struggling to cope with military medium of Timm van der Gugten.

Possible inside edges, glimpses of the stump behind legs and the wrong angles are keeping them safe for now but it seems Glam are knocking on the door.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:30 BST 3 May

    Thomas b Coles 120 (Surrey 622-9 v Sussex 358-9 dec)

And now Adam Thomas's incredible innings is over.

He tries to cut James Coles but it was too close to him and he is castled.

Losing quick wickets is actually helping Surrey, here.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:28 BST 3 May

    Abbott c Coles b Leaning 76 (Surrey 622-8 v Sussex 358-9 dec)

Sean Abbott tries to swipe Jack Leaning into the leg side but he top edges to James Coles.

A fantastic knock of 76 from 71 deliveries.

Matthew Fisher comes in and Leaning, bowling right-arm off-spin round the wicket, beats the forward prod.

  9. Under way at Tauntonpublished at 16:24 BST 3 May

Yorks 259-6 (lead Somerset by 147 runs)

Lewis Gregory has the ball after tea for Somerset. Both batters, George Hill and Dom Bess, take a single in the first two balls.

  10. Surrey still battingpublished at 16:23 BST 3 May

    Surrey 615-7 v Sussex 358-9 dec

Back under way for the evening session at The Oval.

Rory Burns has opted not to declare during the interval. It means, if their innings ends tonight, as it surely will in some fashion, they will lose two overs.

    James Coles bowling for Sussex.

  11. 'Can Surrey now force victory?'published at 16:19 BST 3 May

Surrey 615-7 v Sussex 358-9 dec - tea, day three

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Radio Sussex

A wonderful day for 19-year-old Adam Thomas making a century on his first-class debut and ensuring that Surrey's unbeaten start to the season will continue.

The big question is whether they can force a victory.

Thomas was partnered for his century by the experienced Sean Abbott the pair adding an unbroken 153 for the eighth wicket against a tiring Sussex attack.

Sussex spent 139 overs in the field last weekend in Leeds and with another 156 added to that total in this innings, there will be some tired legs and minds when they eventually bat to try and save this game.

  12. Tea at Grace Roadpublished at 16:18 BST 3 May

    Leics 308 & 131-5 f/o v Notts 490

Time for tea at Uptonsteel Grace Road with Leics more in need of a timeout than Notts.

Olly Stone's 3-29 and two wickets from Lyndon James have broken the Foxes top order leaving them five down and still trailing by 51 runs.

Jonathan Tattersall (9) and Ben Cox (0) are the not out batsmen but in truth, there is not a huge amount still to come down the order.

Notts will enjoy their slice of cake and be right at it after the break.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:03 BST 3 May

    Gubbins b McIlroy 0 (Hants 0-1 f/o trailing by 322 runs)

Terrible start for Hants as Nick Gubbins loses his off stick playing no shot.

Left arm over the stumps from Jamie McIlroy the Glam man gets a bit of movement off the seam and Gubbins gets his angles all wrong.

  14. 'Awkward few deliveries for Eskinazi'published at 16:03 BST 3 May

    308 & 128-5 f/o v Notts 490

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

How often does that happen to players up and down the country?!

They'll get a low-scoring one, he needs ton next and vice versa and for Stephen Eskinazi this has been a really awkward few deliveries.

  15. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:03 BST 3 May

Yorks 257-6 (lead Somerset by 145 runs)

Archie Vaughan gets the last over of the afternoon in the right areas, but can't find another breakthrough.

So Yorkshire go to the break leading by 145, with four wickets in hand.

Another 50 or 60 runs and it might be a close one.

  16. Glamorgan enforce follow onpublished at 16:02 BST 3 May

    Hants 214 & 0-0 (f/o) v Glam 536-7d

Toby Albert and Nick Gubbins are out for a second opening partnership of the day as Glamorgan, quite predictably, make Hampshire bat again.

Hants trail by 322 runs and now need to bat for at least three sessions.

  17. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 16:01 BST 3 May

    Surrey 615-7 v Sussex 358-9 dec

Sean Abbott reaches fiftyImage source, Shutterstock

Jack Leaning bowls the final over before the break. Adam Thomas takes a single, which puts him on 116. He's deserved a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Sean Abbott then drives for four, which takes the lead to 250, and then hammers an almighty blow over mid-wicket for six. He's on 73.

Sussex's fielders could do with putting their feet up for 20 minutes.

With time at a premium, is there a chance Surrey may opt to declare at tea?

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:57 BST 3 May

    Eskinazi lbw b Stone 0 (308 & 128-5 f/o v Notts 490)

Stephen Eskinazi was dropped on 0 earlier in this over but it matters not as he has been pinned lbw.

So not long after raising his bat with his defiant century – a nice round number at 100 exactly – in the first innings, he has another round one in the second.

Olly Stone is bowling superbly in this match and has 3-27 to go with his fivefer in the first innings.

  19. 600 up for Surreypublished at 15:56 BST 3 May

    Surrey 600-7 v Sussex 358-9 dec

A Sean Abbott single takes Surrey to 600 and a lead of 242.

    He's on a run-a-ball 61, with Adam Thomas unbeaten on 114.

  20. 250 up for Yorkshirepublished at 15:56 BST 3 May

Yorks 250-6 (lead Somerset by 138 runs)

George Hill has 15, Dom Bess has four. There's 44 overs left in the day, in theory.
