This is good from Dawson; so miserly and wickets now. Wonderful cricketer.

Rathnayake was aiming to hit the ball over extra, he needed the ball to be slightly fuller to execute that stroke.

Overton is the new Chris Jordan. One decent game in 20 but keeps getting picked.

    Over to you, Jamie Overton.

Kusal Mendis does well to end a run of 24 balls without a boundary, falling in order to lift an off side delivery over his shoulder for four.

Another two into the leg side takes Mendis to 90.

Rehan Ahmed has done ok there. Expensive start, brought it back well and never let Sri Lanka get after him.

  7. SL 229-5published at 46 overs

And Rehan Ahmed finishes up as well, going for five runs from his last six balls.

The young leggie has figures of 1-61 today.

In an age of cricketers (often understandably) chasing money and playing in all sorts of meaningless, in my opinion, franchise leagues around the world, it's hugely admirable to watch someone as skilled as Adil Rashid still representing his country at his age.

That's Adil Rashid done, with four singles coming from his final over.

He finishes with figures of 3-44, another decent day's work from the England veteran.

England have kept chipping away but batting second is not going to be easy when this total goes north of 250.

  11. SL 219-5published at 44 overs

Six balls, six singles from Rehan Ahmed's penultimate over.

Kusal Mendis is on 79 from 103 balls - will he be able to reach his century before the close of the innings?

  12. SL 213-5published at 43 overs

Pavan Rathnayake comes to the crease for the final ball of Adil Rashid's over and takes a single into the leg side to retain the strike.

A third wicket for Adil Rashid!

He breaks this partnership of 88, taking a return catch from Janith Liyanage.

The Sri Lanka batter had swept Rashid for four earlier in the over, but the England veteran now has his man.

    200 up with a six!

Sam Curran changes ends and has Jos Buttler standing up, conceding two singles off his first five balls.

The England all-rounder tries his slower moon ball to finish the over and Janith Liyanage launches it over long-off for his second six of the innings.

Wonderful economy from Dawson but Sri Lanka have some wriggle room here with just four down. Both encouraging and a concern for England the ball is offering more turn now.

  17. SL 197-4published at 41 overs

Kusal Mendis adds four from the next delivery, chopping a ball in front of Joe Root at backward point.

It bounces a bit awkwardly and breaks past the England fielder.

Phwoar, that turned a fair way.

Rehan Ahmed's delivery has Kusal Mendis sprawling and the umpires decide to check if the batter's foot was behind the line when Jos Buttler took the bails off.

    And... it was.

Sri Lanka are starting to cash in here – England really need a breakthrough before this partnership runs away from them.
