Not the ideal of starts for Zak Crawley with two lbw shots during Asitha Fernando's first over.

The England opener then produces a well-timed drive off the final delivery but one that cannons straight into the non-striker's stumps - meaning Fernando begins with a maiden.

    Thanks Mike.

A challenging total to chase down, England will get things started through Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett.

Asitha Fernando is with the ball for Sri Lanka.

23 runs from Jamie Overton's final over is the most conceded by an English bowler in the 50th over of an ODI innings where ball-by-ball data exists.

A little bit of news from the England camp.

Selector Luke Wright is stepping down from his role after the T20 World Cup.

The former Sussex all-rounder has spent three years in the job and has chosen to leave the position.

Rashid has certainly been a great for us but I do think he is preventing other talent from coming through, he certainly isn't our golden ticket to success.

    Declan Morrison, Fonthill

@Roy & Dave 10:38 - England would have loved to have picked him for the Tests but he was unavailable as he can't bowl more than ten overs due a long standing injury.

Today is the 33rd time Adil Rashid has taken three or more wickets in an ODI. Only four spinners in ODI cricket history have done it on more occasions - Muttiah Muralitharan (68), Saqlain Mushtaq (48), Shahid Afridi (42) and Shane Warne (38). Overall, for England, only James Anderson (35) has done it on more occasions than Rashid.

Poor bit of captaincy to give the last over to Overton, all things considered. Saving one of our main spinners for it would've probably have been better.

    Josh, Cheadle Hulme

Feels like its repeated every time he plays but Overton is a million miles off international standard. Never been good enough.

I still can’t understand how Jamie Overton gets in this team when his own brother is better than him…

So, England will need plenty of intelligence here on top of that natural skill. A winning chase is possible but Mendis showed patience is looking key; it’s going to be very tough. Mendis deserved a century. Not the best last over for England which could prove the difference.

Make that three fours in a row.

Jamie Overton is a touch unlucky this time, as Dunith Wellalage's edge flies away for another boundary.

The last ball of the innings goes out to square for two - that's 23 runs from the over.

Kusal Mendis finishes with an unbeaten 93 from number three, while Wellalage chipped in with a very handy 25 from 12 deliveries.

    Consecutive fours!

A single to long-off brings Dunith Wellalage back on strike and the lower-order batter smashes Jamie Overton through point and then scoops over the keeper for another boundary.

A leg side wide from Jamie Overton and Kusal Mendis, keen to get back on the strike and perhaps get his century, hurries through an extra run.

Overton gathers and his short throw hits the stumps at the bowler's end - the umpires take a look, but Dunith Wellalage is home safe.

Liam Dawson's 1-31 off his 10 overs is the most economical 10-over spell by an English spinner in ODIs since Moeen Ali's 1-30 against Pakistan in Sharjah in 2015.

Dunith Wellalage immediately gets off the mark with a single into the leg side, and Kusal Mendis returns the new batter to the crease with an on-side run of his own.

That's Liam Dawson's overs done - he finishes with figures of 1-31.
