  1. SL 143-4published at 30 overs

Three more runs come from Jamie Overton's latest over as we reach the 30-over mark.

I think Sri Lanka would be fairly happy to double their score from here.

And here is Jacob Bethell, your wish is England's command, Martin.

Need a consistent and measured start. Some of the T20 batters need to find form prior to the World Cup. Jacob needs to get a few overs in.

    Fifty up with consecutive fours!

Kusal Mendis drives Rehan Ahmed's fourth ball through the covers and then lifts his fifth down the ground.

He brings up his landmark from 62 deliveries.

It's quite clear they want Overton to play the Liam Plunkett role but he doesn't seem to be that suited to it. Carse is a better fit.

Jamie Overton continues, conceding just a single from his over.

He has figures of 0-31 from his six overs.

England are doing well in taking wickets at regular intervals but that must continue and Mendis is clearly posing a threat.

As for Rehan Ahmed, every international wicket for him is confidence building.

Rehan Ahmed is the natural successor to Rashid. He needs to be handled carefully and not have huge pressure to be as consistently effective as Rashid straight away. He has talent and is still very young. He is a fine attacking batter too.

  9. SL 129-4published at 27 overs

A confident start for Janith Liyanage!

The new batter advances down the pitch to his second legitimate delivery from Rehan Ahmed and crashes the ball through mid-on for four.

Big wicket for England, big wicket for Rehan Ahmed. A little bit flatter. Asalanka top-edges it straight into the air. It's an easy catch for Harry Brook.

    Top-edged the sweep!

Charith Asalanka skews Rehan Ahmed's delivery up in the air off his bat then arm and has no idea where it has gone.

Jos Buttler appears to have lost it as well, but Harry Brook has plenty of time to run round from slip to a leg slip position, settle himself and take the catch.

Why are England bowling seam here? Surely Jacob Bethell or Joe Root would be the way to go?

In this part of the world, if the ball goes past the bat you've got to pretend it's out!

    Thanks Adwaidh.

As I arrive at my keyboard, Jamie Overton walks to the top of his run-up, coming on to replace Adil Rashid.

His first two balls offer width on the off side and Charith Asalanka gets four from both, edging past Jos Buttler and then chopping over the covers.

Overton then strikes Kusal Mendus on the pad and goes up for a big appeal, but that's very obviously going down leg.

Wasn't Adil Rashid in the Test team instead of a load of part-timers? Control and wicket taking.

    Mr Roy Cole, Buckingham

Despite the Aussie pitches not being spinner-friendly, I can't help but think Rashid would have been useful out there. I know he has retired, but....

Ashes is over and no Test (testing on my patience!) cricket for a while. Luckily, we've got the short forms back. Let's go Brooksy's boys!

Kusal Mendis hammers Adil Rashid's first ball through mid-wicket and past the boundary rope.

But it's much better from the England bowler for the rest of the over, conceding just two more.

Stating the obvious, Rashid is magic. But how will England take middle-overs wickets after her retires? He can't go on forever.
