  1. Covers coming on at Headingleypublished at 16:23 BST 16 May

    Yorkshire 486 v Surrey 17-0

As the covers are coming off at Edgbaston, they are now coming on, unfortunately, at Headingley.

We will let you know if that means the end of the day's play for today - but after tea was taken we were set to restart at 16:20.

That has not happened however and the skies are looking increasingly gloomy over head in Leeds.

  2. Half century for Bedinghampublished at 16:23 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 121-4 - tea

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

David Bedingham has reached 50 yet again. He came into the match with 554 runs this season and an average of 92.3.

Having already reached 50 on four previous occasions - three of which became centuries - he has 51 at tea.

It was a good session for Kent though as Durham lost Emilio Gay for none, Alex Lees for 31 and Will Rhodes for 19. Graham Clark then departed for five to leave the visitors on 88-4 and trailing by 435.

    But, there's always David Bedingham.

  3. Still delayed at Tauntonpublished at 16:22 BST 16 May

    Somerset 394-5 v Sussex

We're still waiting for an update on the recent pitch inspection, which took place at 1600 BST.

The picture is promising though. The covers have been off for a while now and we have a fielding drill on the boundary edge.

When Somerset do get back out there, the hosts have four overs left to pick up the six runs they need for a fourth batting point.

Sussex need early wickets and a bit of respite.

After all, this is their sixth championship game this season inside of seven weeks.

  4. Covers coming offpublished at 16:19 BST 16 May

    Warwickshire 105-4 v Glamorgan 360

Although the application of the full covers looked pretty ominous at the tea break, the umpires have been out to chat with the ground-staff and they are now in the process of removing them.

We are due to begin again shortly.

  5. Misjudgements cost Bearspublished at 16:19 BST 16 May

    Warwickshire 105-4 v Glamorgan 360 - rain delay

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

The full covers were unfurled during the tea interval so it may be some time, or even tomorrow, until Glamorgan are able to try to make further progress after a persistent bowling effort gave them the advantage.

Timm van der Gugten and Tom Norton were not as effective with the new ball as Warwickshire’s opening bowlers had been yesterday, but both returned in the final half-hour of the afternoon to dislodge in-form batters in accurate spells.

Warwickshire will be reflecting on misjudgements from Dan Mousley and Sam Hain, both declining to play shots to the balls that dismissed them. Mousley lost his off bail to a Norton delivery that kept coming from round the wicket, while Hain offered only his front pad to a ball from van der Gugten that jagged inwards.

Earlier Zain ul-Hassan probed at the left-handed Rob Yates from over the wicket until getting through with an inswinger, while Alex Davies twice flicked the same bowler over the short boundary to the Hollies Stand before cutting hard into Sean Dickson’s chest at gully.

  6. Tea at Beckenhampublished at 16:18 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 121-4

Spinner Matt Parkinson bowls the final over before tea at Beckenham and it is a maiden.

Kent added only 26 to their 497-8 at lunch as Matthew Potts took 5-92 for Durham, with Ekansh Singh left unbeaten on 66.

The young all-rounder followed that with the wickets of Alex Lees and Will Rhodes, while new England opener Emilio Gay was bowled by Matt Milnes for a six-ball duck.

Graham Clark also went cheaply but David Bedingham is looking in very good nick for Durham - 51 not out from only 36 balls at the interval.

  7. DERBYSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 376published at 16:15 BST 16 May

    Guest c Duke b Bosch 13 (Middx 177 v Derbys 376 - lead by 199)

A good comeback from Eathan Bosch who gets Brooke Guest caught behind the delivery after being sent to the stands for a maximum.

Derbyshire will be happy with their day's efforts, however, as they lead by 199 as tea is taken on day two at Lord's.

  8. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:13 BST 16 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 376-9

    Have some of that!

Brooke Guest absolutely blasts one into the stands for a sensational maximum and the ball looks to have been damaged somewhat.

We will need a replacement here. Derbyshire's lead is almost 200.

  9. 50 runs

for David Bedinghampublished at 16:13 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 121-4

Kent should have learned by now that dropping short to David Bedingham is not a productive tactic.

The South African pulls Keith Dudgeon for four and then reaches 50 from just 36 balls with an exquisite cover drive.

  10. rain stops play

No resumption at Edgbastonpublished at 16:11 BST 16 May

    Warwickshire 105-4 v Glamorgan 360

We were due to resume play at Edgbaston at 4:07pm following the tea break, but the whole square has been covered.

It is gloomy in the distance and, although it does not look particularly heavy, there is rain in the air. Whether we get back out again this evening? We shall wait and see.

  11. Women's One Day Cup updatepublished at 16:08 BST 16 May

Warwickshire are now 140-4 chasing 239 to beat Yorkshire at Scarborough - needing 99 more runs to win in 17 overs.

Surrey need another 127 to beat Lancashire at the Oval with six wickets and 28 overs in hand.

Meanwhile, Somerset are struggling against Durham at Chester-le-Street, on 114-5 in the 28th over, chasing 293.

WICKETpublished at 16:07 BST 16 May

    Haydon c Duke b Sharma 0 (Middx 177 v Derbys 370-9)

    Edged and gone!

Rory Haydon is caught behind for a duck while looking to drive off the bowling of young Naavya Sharma.

Last man in for Derbyshire, no stranger to this ground, Shoaib Bashir.

    Derbyshire's lead is 193.

  13. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 16:04 BST 16 May

    Notts 124-3 v Hampshire 214

It is tea at the Utilita Bowl.

Nottinghamshire are only 90 runs behind Hants' first innings total and have seven wickets remaining, although one of those is the retired Freddie McCann who, having been struck on the hand earlier, had to depart hurt on 38.

Jack Haynes and Kyle Verreynne are out in the middle when the evening session starts.

  14. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:02 BST 16 May

    Essex 235-8 v Leicestershire 333

Three singles off Ajaz Patel in the final over before tea at Chelmsford, which arrives with Essex 98 behind.

It was a productive afternoon for the home side, adding 137 to their total but they lost four wickets in the process.

Charlie Allison made 72 but perhaps the best moment came when Jamie Porter reached a maiden first-class 50 in his 178th innings.

The Essex nightwatchman eventually went for 52 during a good spell by paceman Ben Mike, who has 3-57.

  15. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 16:01 BST 16 May

    Yorkshire 486 v Surrey 17-0

    Oh dear.

After just four overs, the covers are coming back on, and we're off for a mix of rain and bad light for the second time today.

It's one of those annoying days unfortunately.

    Tea will now be taken.

  16. Pitch inspection underway at Tauntonpublished at 16:01 BST 16 May

    Somerset 394-5 v Sussex

The covers are off, the rain has stopped and the cloud cover is marginally less depressing.

Umpires Ben Debenham and Tom Lungley are on to check the square and outfield.

  17. Postpublished at 15:59 BST 16 May

Pulled away by Rory Burns into the leg side for his second boundary of the innings so far.

Burns has moved onto 14 not out off just 13.

WICKETpublished at 15:56 BST 16 May

    Madsen lbw Bosch 119 (Middx 177 v Derbys 365-8)

Huge edge from Wayne Madsen goes right in between wicket-keeper and first slip - over the cordon - for another boundary.

    Middlesex have leaked runs today.

Moments later, Eathan Bosch gets his own back, trapping Madsen on the back pad bang in front plumb LBW.

A wonderful knock by Madsen who takes the applause from the crowd and MCC members. He has been exemplary today.

  19. 6 runs

Postpublished at 15:56 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 102-4

David Bedingham punches Ekansh Singh through the covers for four and then pulls him powerfully away for a maximum.

Another boundary ends the over - this one to mid-wicket - and Bedingham has 39 not out from only 25 balls.

  20. Play delayed at Bristolpublished at 15:54 BST 16 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 85-4

We had hoped to resume a couple of minutes ago after a lengthy delay this afternoon.

But the elements simply refuse to co-operate. Sigh.
