    McManus b Taylor 10 (Gloucs 154 v Northants 106-8)

And another! Superb ball from Matt Taylor.

That ball swung in sharply to Lewis McManus on the drive and the ball canons into middle and off. Play that!

    Here comes Ben Sanderson.

  2. 500 up for Somersetpublished at 17:48 BST 16 May

    Somerset 510-7 v Sussex

Somerset pass the 500 mark in the 126th over in fading light here at Taunton, courtesy of a Lewis Gregory drive down the ground for one off Jack Carson.

More punishment for Sussex in the next over as Jack Leach slog sweeps James Coles over so-called "cow corner" for six.

    10 runs off the over.

  3. Bad light stops play at Beckenhampublished at 17:48 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 173-5

That may be that at Beckenham too.

The umpires lead the players off with Durham 350 behind and facing an uphill battle tomorrow to avoid following on.

David Bedingham has calmed down a bit after racing to 50 and has 72 off 71 balls to his name, with Ben Stokes - still fairly new to the crease - on eight not out.

One of the talking points earlier in the day was England new boy Emilio Gay's dismissal for a duck.

  4. Close of play at Chelmsfordpublished at 17:45 BST 16 May

    Essex 281-8 v Leicestershire 333

The umpires don't waste any time after taking the players off for bad light in deciding that's it for day two at Chelmsford.

Essex will resume tomorrow 52 runs behind, with Wiaan Mulder (70*) and Simon Harmer (33*) together.

Charlie Allison made 72 earlier in the day and Jamie Porter hit a maiden first-class 50, with Ben Mike taking 3-74 for the visitors.

  5. 6 runs

McManus takes Northants past 100published at 17:43 BST 16 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 102-7

Some derring-do from Lewis McManus as the Northants keeper waits in the crease to scoop a leg side ball from Craig Miles over square leg for six.

That's some way to reach the innings 100 - in the 44th over.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:38 BST 16 May

    Overton b Coles 111 (Somerset 491-7 v Sussex)

A brief flurry from Craig Overton after reaching his hundred with a six lofted down the ground and a four lofted over mid wicket.

But James Coles gets a measure of revenge with a nicely-flighted ball that Overton misses on the drive.

The ball clips the top of middle and leg. Superb entertainment and here comes Jack Leach.

  7. Postpublished at 17:38 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 167-5

Ben Stokes is never going to miss out on those.

Matt Parkinson sends down a looping full toss and the Durham all-rounder smashes it away for his first boundary.

100 for Craig Overtonpublished at 17:37 BST 16 May

    Somerset 480-6 v Sussex

There it is! Craig Overton is back and across to scoop James Coles into the on side for two.

That's his second century of the season and the third of his career.

His first was a knock of 141 made against Essex at Chelmsford.

134 balls with 13 fours and a six.

  9. Bad light stops play at Lord'spublished at 17:36 BST 16 May

    Middx 13-1 v Derbys - trail by 186 runs

And after less than five overs of Middlesex's second innings, we are back off for bad light at Lord's.

With the hover cover coming back on, you would expect that to be that for the day's play.

  10. dropped catch

Overton dropped... on 99published at 17:33 BST 16 May

    Somerset 478-6 v Sussex

Craig Overton moves to 99 with four runs driven to long off facing James Coles.

Overton turns the ball into the on side now facing Jack Carson and is dropped by Ollie Robinson!

A sharp chance diving to his right, but a chance nonetheless.

  11. Postpublished at 17:31 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 163-5

Ben Stokes is off the mark as he turns Matt Milnes to square leg for one. That's one more than Emilio Gay managed at the start of the innings, in case you missed that.

  12. Stumps at Southamptonpublished at 17:30 BST 16 May

    Notts 124-3 v Hampshire 214

Ben Slater, wearing a green helmet, white pads, white gloves and holding a bat, plays a shot while batting for NottinghamshireImage source, Rex Features

That is that for the day at Southampton - the teams never re-emerged after tea because of the inclement weather, which has badly affected the first two days of cricket as a whole.

Nottinghamshire wrapped up Hampshire's first innings this morning, with Felix Organ (55) the most notable contributor to Hants' total of 214.

Notts in reply are 124-3 before day three begins tomorrow morning. Ben Slater (48) fell two runs short of his half-century and Freddie McCann (38 not out) retired hurt after being struck on the hand.

The prospect of a result in this match is very much in the balance.

    Bartlett c Bracey b Miles 1 (Gloucs 154 v Northants 96-7)

George Bartlett shuffles across his stumps to Craig Miles and gets a touch through to Gloucestershire keeper James Bracey on the leg side.

    Horrid way to go.

Lewis Mcmanus is in the middle now.

  14. Postpublished at 17:28 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 160-5

A steepling bouncer from Keith Dudgeon fails to trouble Ben Stokes and is called a no-ball.

Stokes lets the next one go harmlessly by outside off stump and has yet to open his account from seven balls faced so far.

  15. Postpublished at 17:27 BST 16 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 96-6

James Sales is finding a touch of momentum, driving repeatedly through cover for a brace of twos and a four.

    Robson c Madsen b Aitchison 4 (Middlesex 6-1 v Derbys - trail by 193)

What a day Ben Aitchison is having!

After making his maiden first-class century earlier today, he gets an early breakthrough, getting Sam Robson to edge at one outside the line of off stump.

Fellow centurion Wayne Madsen takes a relatively simple grab at first slip.

After collecting figures of 5-47 in Middlesex's first innings, Aitchison is at it again.

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 88-6

  19. wicket

    Robinson c b Milnes 27 (Kent 523 v Durham 159-5

Confident lbw appeal from Matt Milnes against Ollie Robinson is turned down - but now he has his man, caught at gully by Keith Dudgeon.

That was a loose stroke by Robinson, who put on 71 with David Bedingham, and we are now going to see Mr Benjamin Andrew Stokes at number seven in the order.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 17:20 BST 16 May

    Warwickshire 123-6 v Glamorgan 360

Just like that, a delivery after Zen Malik was dismissed and Jordan Thompson strode out to the crease for Warwickshire, the covers are on and the players depart the field.

The rain is currently drizzly but more is forecast from hereon out. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that that is it for the day.
