The Chiefs are used to winning the AFC West, they're used to getting to the Super Bowl, so facing an early end to the season is new for Kansas City.

“We are in unprecedented territory, a place we haven't been since I've been here,” said Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

"All these guys that have won championships, it hasn't always been pretty, but it will really test what kind of character we have.

“I don't know what the percentages are, I know they're not high, but it would be special to get into the playoffs.”

A huge clash takes place in the AFC East as the high-flying New England Patriots to Buffalo to take on the Bills.

The Patriots have won 10 in a row and pose an 11-2 season record, the joint-best in the AFC East alongside the Denver Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Bills are second in the AFC East and have an impressive 8-4 record themselves, going into this one off the back of two straight wins.

The two sides met in Buffalo in October, where the Patriots edged a 23-20 victory.

  8. Jags going for double digitspublished at 18:02 GMT 14 December 2025

New York Jets @ Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags can get to 10 wins for just the second time since 2007 as they host the lowly Jets, so they're big favourites at home in Florida.

Jacksonville are the surprise AFC South leaders, being chased down hard by the Houston Texans and with the Colts fading away as they turn to 44-year-old Philip Rivers to try and save them.

Anything other than a Jags win would be a big upset tonight.

  9. Can the Chargers slay the giant?published at 18:00 GMT 14 December 2025

As divisional rivals to Kansas City, the Los Angeles Chargers have been frustrated by the Chiefs many times over recent years.

They can now do something they and the Denver Broncos have been longing to do for almost a decade - dump them out of play-off contention. The 6-7 Chiefs have been wobbling for a few weeks and tonight the 9-4 Chargers have the chance to land the knockout blow.

The Chargers opened the season by beating the Chiefs in Brazil but must now go into Arrowhead, a place where they have not won since 2021 and where Patrick Mahomes' team tend to find a way to win.

The Broncos top the AFC West with a 11-2 record and host the Green Bay Packers in one of tonight's five late games.

Two of the NFL's worst sides meet in New York, with the Giants hosting the Commanders.

The Giants are 2-11 for the season and have lost key players Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo for the rest of the campaign, losing seven straight matches in the process.

Washington are eight games without victory and have a seasonal record of 3-10.

A game where neither side have been used to the winner's circle, but barring an illusive draw, one will add to that column.

  12. Can Cincy stay in play-off hunt?published at 17:58 GMT 14 December 2025

Does anyone actually want to win the AFC North?

Baltimore and Cincinnati have been dreadful for much of the season, allowing Pittsburgh to lead the way. Then just after the resurgent Ravens joined the Steelers at the top of the division, they lost their next two, with last week's home defeat by Pittsburgh allowing them to regain top spot.

And just after Joe Burrow's return from injury gave the Bengals hope of snatching a play-off spot, winning 32-14 at Baltimore two weeks ago, Cincy managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at Buffalo last week.

Another defeat today will end the Bengals' chances and see Baltimore put the pressure back on Pittsburgh before they play Miami on Monday Night Football, or can Cincy manage to stay in the hunt?
