San Francisco 49ers 10-13 Philadelphia Eagles - third quarter

A penalty against the Eagles helps the 49ers to creep away from their own end zone, but then a dropped pass stalls the momentum.

It's pretty tough going for the visitors now but they're still in there fighting.

  2. Eagles punt pins Niners backpublished at 23:20 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 10-13 Philadelphia Eagles - third quarter

Saquon Barkley took his eye off that one as he drops a simple chance leading to a punt, which is a boomer that is caught right down at the five.

Here's where special teams really make a difference, as that punt turned into an attacking move that will put the Niners right where the Philly defence wants them.

Right then, what's this second half got for us? Every game so far has gone right down to the wire, will this go the same way?

Yes, ban the "tush push", it's anti-football. Even when you get a turnover, like Kayvon Thibodeaux, refs don't know what to do. As a Giants fan, I have to hate the Eagles and that play makes it so much worse (but if they lose, John Harbaugh could end up there and not New York if they, bizarrely, fired Sirianni....help)

The Bills have actually had similar success on the Tush Push than the Eagles this year. I note they voted to ban it on the basis of 'player safety' this off-season. Hypocrites. It's a quarterback sneak. If you don't like it, stop it. My Eagles had less success with it and aren't using it so much at the moment.

  6. Key Men: McCaffrey & Barkley set for big impactpublished at 23:13 GMT 11 January

HT: San Francisco 49ers 7-13 Philadelphia Eagles

Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley are hugely important for the 49ers and Eagles, and not just in the run game.

McCaffrey is a dual-purpose running back, given how much he's used in the pass game, and he almost reached 1,000 rushing AND receiving yards for the second time in his career.

He had the most overall touches this season, with Barkley eighth on that list. It was always going to be a tall order to get near last season's tally of 2,005 rushing yards but 1,140 is still an impressive total.

With the conditions in Philly now favouring the run game, McCaffrey and Barkley could have a huge say in how this game unfolds.

Shanahan and the Niners have had an incredible season when you consider the number and importance of injuries, and the toughest division! Think tonight will just be a step too far!

You would think that the 49ers would have tried the running game but they haven't really been able to because of the Eagles' tough defence.

There's a theme here isn't there? Yet again a wildcard tie is in the balance as the defending champions go in just three points ahead at the break.

Fair play to San Francisco who are down to the bare bones on defence and lost star tight end George Kittle in that first half - but they're still here and fighting hard.

Philly get the ball first in the second half though, will the Eagles run away with it in the second half?

  11. Brock bungles itpublished at 23:03 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 10-13 Philadelphia Eagles - second quarter

Brock Purdy goes on a mazy run looking to set-up a field goal, but he looks like he's fumbled it out of bounds so that may be the end of the half.

Purdy had to be more decisive there as he thought twice about things before heading to the sideline to stop the clock, but he's fluffed his lines and the 49ers have run out of time.

Back-up Jake Tonges moves the chains with a 14-yard reception from a Brock Purdy pass as he will now have to step in and cover for George Kittle.

There's now only eight second left on the clock.

San Francisco 49ers 10-13 Philadelphia Eagles - second quarter

Brick Purdy goes down for the first time tonight as Philadelphia's famous four-man rush does the job again.

It's Jalen Carter who gets to Purdy after Jaelan Phillips put on the pressure - Philly has had the best defence in the league since they traded for Phillips, what a great move.

Just a minute left in the half.

I like the Niners, always did, back to Joe Montana. Brock Purdy is a great story too, Mr Irrelevant come good. Let's hope for a red and gold triumph.

The 49ers have had to deal with a lot of injuries this season yet they're still in this position. That's one of the reasons why Kyle Shanahan is in a lot of Coach of the Year conversations.

AJ Brown and head coach Nick Sirianni are going at it on the sideline after that last play. Not sure what that's about - we'll definitely find out if the Eagles go on to lose here.

Another false start by the Eagles - again, criminal - followed by another deep ball from Jalen Hurts again targeting AJ Brown who dives and gets hands on the ball but can't bring it in.

He's covered pretty closely and the Eagles fans want a flag, but they're hardly the most objective bunch and there's nothing doing there.

Jalen Hurts goes for it all with a bomb down the field for AJ Brown, who has three Niners defenders but still almost comes up with the ball.

It just bounces out of his grasp and that brings up third down.
