The Eagles need a spark from somewhere. This has been a good drive to start the quarter but I still need to see more tempo.

Jalen Hurts takes off for a run and as he slides he half tackled by two 49ers defenders - but the refs throw a flag for a late and/or dangerous hit on the quarterback's head or neck area.

That's up there with one of the worst flags we've seen this weekend as there was an arm tackle at best, not really too late and Hurts was really speeding too. Very lucky 15 yards for Philly.

It's all going for the hosts now.

Oh Brock Purdy will want that one back! San Francisco had Philly on the ropes but Purdy made a risky thorw and the ball floated a bit allowing Quinyon Mitchell to jump the route and grab his second pick of the day.

Philly get the ball back around midfield as yet again the Philadelphia defence shows up big time - time for the offence to do something.

Jalen Hurts misses the target on the run on third down and Philly have to punt - which brings out more than a few boos from the stands.

It doesn't take much in Philadelphia admittedly - this crowd once booed Santa Claus - but it seems a bit early with the Super Bowl champs just a point down.

The offensive output hasn't been great in the second half though to be fair.

We shouldn't be surprise Kyle Shanahan had something like that in the locker as one of the best offensive minds in the NFL.

The way the game had gone though we didn't expect something like that as it'd been pretty steady, tough football so far but that glitzy trciky play as certainly livened up the game.

So much deception here, I don't know where the coverage went but who else other than Christian McCaffrey. What an answer, unbelievable!

Kyle Juszczyk is not just a great scrabble name but also a power runner when he gets the ball in hand, and his 27-yard catch and run moves San Francisco into opposition territory.

Brock Purdy then converts a third and short with a QB sneak, a more traditional one, and the third quarter ends with the Niners on the Philadelphia 29.

The Eagles look so disjointed out there. Every time they come out of the huddle they are slow. They need to bring up the energy on the line of scrimmage, they need to look like they want to score.

I'd like to see a little more tempo, a little more rhythm. There's a real lack of communication as well right now.

San Francisco 49ers 10-16 Philadelphia Eagles - third quarter

Jake Elliott splits the uprights from 41 yards to double the Eagles lead to six points, which may already be enough given how their defence has been playing!

It was slow and muddling stuff on that drive as they took 10 plays to move just 23 yards after being handed the short field by a dodgy punt.

That's one of a few mistakes San Fran have made that could end up costing them.

Talk about a Jekyll and Hyde offence, Philadelphia can look awful and then brilliant in the blink of an eye.

They've been largely awful this half after a fine start, and even on this drive DeVonta Smith has come up with two good plays but Jalen Hurts has been slow conducting the drives.

Their tush push is looking good though - well, as good as that play can look.

More ugly football as San Francisco have to punt, and the kick is awful from Thomas Morstead though and he doesn't even get his side out of their own half.

That could be a big mistake as Jalen Hurts gets a short field now to work with - you can't afford any mistakes even in special teams in the play-offs.

This 49ers defence knows that it doesn't matter if they can't get a score, they just aren't going to let the Eagles score. That's the kind of mindset that these guys have.

Messy stuff from Philly with a penalty thrown in as they have to kick it away. Nick Sirianni won't panic here though as his offence has thrown in some reallt stinkers this season in the second half.

Away at Buffalo Jalen Hurts failed to even complete a pass in the second half and they stil won thanks to the this defence they have.

Quinyon Mitchell is one of the beest corners in the league. A lot of the time they make him play man to man coverage with no help and he does it so effectively.

Height is an issue for Brock Purdy. He is 6'1 - he is trying to throw that over a lot of offensive linemen with wide range and I'm just not sure he got a good look where he was throwing to.

A poorly thrown ball at the wrong time.

Killer for ther 49ers as Brock Purdy was just getting things moving but then makes an odd decision to float a pass up that's easily picked off by Quinyon MItchell.

Purdy comes and has a word with Kyle Shanahan about that play - which was either him making the throw at the wrong time to the receiver not doing thigns properly.
