The coaching job he's done this year, we need to celebrate.

The fact they've had so many injuries but he's adjusted every single week, they're so well prepared and understanding how the offence is going to attack them, because he knows he doesn't have the talent.

  2. Turnover on downspublished at 22:15 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 7-6 Philadelphia Eagles - First quarter

Tight is definitely how it's proving early doors.

These sides are pretty much mirroring each other on offence and defence.

The Eagles just went up for it on fourth and two from midfield but Jalen Hurts saw his pass batted away and the Niners take over again.

    To me to you vibes.

As a Niners fan I’m far more hopeful if this turns into a shootout rather than a defensive slugfest.

  5. Three and out!published at 22:07 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 7-6 Philadelphia Eagles - First quarter

After what was such an impressive opening drive, the Niners go three and out on their second of the day.

They punt it away and the Eagles will take over.

  6. Have your say - a McCaffrey family linkpublished at 22:04 GMT 11 January

Just a little side note, but Christian McCaffrey's dad went to my highschool in Allentown, PA. It's only about 5 miles from the high school that Saquon Barkley attended in Whitehall, PA. So an added local and sometimes family rivalry!

    Chris, Surrey

Love stories like this Chris. I went to primary school with Oldham Athletic striker Joe Garner. Not quite as impressive.

They're just so creative down here in the red zone. It's just a jet sweep for Dallas Goedert and when he gets to the outside it just isn't really a fair fight between him and the secondary.

  8. Hurts aims to improve impressive play-off recordpublished at 22:01 GMT 11 January

The Eagles offence has not been at its best this season yet quarterback Jalen Hurts has still registered a career-high 25 touchdown passes.

He's again led Philly into the play-offs, as he's done in all five seasons as their starting quarterback. He tends to play his best football in the post-season, with last season's triumphant Super Bowl run taking his play-off record to 6-3.

This season the Eagles have not relied on the tush push as much as they have previously but Hurts has proven himself to be a leader who knows what it takes to win, scrambling for first downs when required or going long with his arm, as he did when winning last season's Super Bowl MVP.

  9. touchdown

    What a response!

And it's tight end Dallas Goedert on the jet sweep who takes it in for six.

Jake Elliott misses the extra point attempt so the Niners still lead.

If this game carries on like this, we are on for a serious treat ladies and gentlemen.

49ers do have a chance at winning- but a slim one

Are you sure you don't want to change that prediction Kashif after that first 49ers drive? It was pretty impressive

And that's not a bad start for the Eagles on offence, either.

Just like the 49ers' second play of the day, the Eagles' second play is a big one.

Saquon Barkley bursts off a 29-yard run and the Eagles are in Niners territory.

  12. Purdy continues to prove his worthpublished at 21:52 GMT 11 January

While Mac Jones has done reasonably well in Brock Purdy's absence this season, there was a stark difference when Purdy returned in week 11.

Since then, the 26-year-old ranks third in the NFL for total touchdowns (19) and passer rating (105.6), and from weeks 11-17, the 49ers averaged 35.7 points per game.

Purdy reached the NFC Championship game in his rookie season, then the Super Bowl in his second. When fit, he has continued to show he is one of the league's most accurate passers this season, as well as being able to use his legs when called upon.

After being selected with the last pick of the draft in 2022, Purdy has proved he not just belongs in the NFL but deserves the $265m contract extension he signed last May.

  13. 'Embarrassing for Eagles'published at 21:50 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 7-0 Philadelphia Eagles

    Greg Brady
NFL pundit on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

What a play from Purdy to Robinson – there’s a lot of embarrassed linebackers. Robinson twisted one way and got three Eagles going the other way. He shoudn’t have got most of those 40 yards after the catch

  14. Huge start for the 49erspublished at 21:49 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 7-0 Philadelphia Eagles

    Tom Brady
Seven-time Super Bowl winner on FOX

A lot of deception on this play, a little bit of eye candy.

What an answer for the Niners, coming all the way over to the East Cost where the Eagles have all the momentum but the Niners have said hang on, it's not going to be that easy.

That's got to give them so much confidence coming here against the defending Super Bowl champs.

  15. touchdown

    Touchdown - 49erspublished at 21:47 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 7-0 Philadelphia Eagles - First quarter

Talk about stamping your authority from the off!

The San Francisco 49ers just drove down the field with such swagger and it's that man Demarcus Robinson who set them up earlier.

They fake the jet sweep, Brock Purdy drops back and finds Robinson who hauls it in.

    What a start.

  16. Big play!published at 21:46 GMT 11 January

San Francisco 49ers 0-0 Philadelphia Eagles - First quarter

Demarcus Robinson goes for 58-yards on the second play of the day.

Brock Purdy finds the veteran wide receiver who jinks one man, then another and gets all the way down inside the 20.

The 49ers have an instant redzone opportunity.

  17. Kick-offpublished at 21:44 GMT 11 January

    Game two is go!

It's the San Francisco 49ers that will be on offence first in what is a raucous Philadelphia atmosphere.

    Phoebe Schecter: Eagles

Given their injuries, coach Kyle Shanahan has been incredible to get the 49ers where they are. They have done a great job of staying afloat with their defence, but I just don't know how sustainable it is.

Having slipped from potentially the top seed to the sixth, Shanahan's been like 'we've just got to do it the hard way'. This must mean so much to them because of the 2023 NFC Championship game in Philly, when Brock Purdy got injured and Christian McCaffrey had to play quarterback.

I don't think the Eagles are going to do anything fancy. They're going to run the ball, get the play-action to throw outside to their receivers and then play great defence.

It's not cute, it's not exciting, but they just know how to win. I have a lot of faith in Jalen Hurts and their defence, so I'm going Eagles.

    Ben Collins: Eagles

The 49ers have had a rough year, but I think this will be one hurdle too many. There have been concerns about the Eagles' offence this season, with receiver AJ Brown voicing his frustration.

But even when they've not been firing on all cylinders, they've managed to grind out so many tight wins over the past year or so, and I think Philly will secure another one tonight.

    Paul Higham: Eagles

Nick Sirianni is brash, loud and not everyone's cup of tea, but he knows how to win, which after all is what it's all about - and his 59-26 regular season record is the best in the NFL since he got the job.

The defence has carried this Eagles team but when play-off times comes Jalen Hurts and co always step up their game, and this 49ers defence hasn't shown anywhere near enough to suggest they can stop them.

Christian McCaffrey is San Fran's best chance as the weak point of the Eagles defence is with running backs as receivers getting to the outside, but the Philly defence, well rested and fully healthy, will rule the day.
