  2. Hunt on for Bromsgrove arsonistpublished at 13:48 BST 19 October 2016

    Police are investigating a suspected arson attack in Bromsgrove this morning, external.

    A person is believed to have set fire to a plastic crate, using an accelerant, and dumped it at the front door of a property on Epsom Road, Catshill.

    Fire damage was caused to the front door, but nobody was injured, officers say.

    A man was then seen getting into a unknown vehicle which had been waiting on the street.  

    "We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen any suspicious activity,"  Insp Sarah Corteen said.

  8. West Midlands unemployment increases compared to 2015published at 11:41 BST 19 October 2016

    The number of unemployed people in the West Midlands has risen by 3,000 to 168,000 in the three months to August, figures show. , external

    Across the UK, unemployment saw a "small" rise of 10,000 to 1.66 million, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

    The figures for the region show that the number of people out of work for June to August 2016 was also up by 2,000 compared to the same period the year before, one of just three regions to show a rise on 2015. 

    Across the West Midlands 5.9% of people aged over 16 are currently out of work.

  9. Bus use across England falls to lowest level in decadepublished at 11:08 BST 19 October 2016

    Bus use in England has fallen sharply in the past five years.

    People in Herefordshire took an average of 13.2 bus journeys in the last financial year compared with 15 a year ago, while in Worcestershire it's down from 25.4 to 23.1.

    The counties were among the areas in England with the biggest percentage fall in bus use.

    Research by the Campaign for Better Transport has found subsidies for bus routes had been reduced by £78m since 2010, leading to cuts in services, particularly in rural areas.

    West Mercia's Police and Crime Commissioner has raised concerns about how the force answers calls to 999 and 101. 

    John Campion says there's been a fall in performance and data shows the average wait almost trebled in the 12 months leading up to August this year.

  11. Olympian Alex Gregory to pick up Worcestershire awardpublished at 10:30 BST 19 October 2016

    Olympic champion rower Alex Gregory is set to be honoured for his achievements in Rio in his home county of Worcestershire.

    Gregory, who started rowing in Evesham, will be presented with a Black Pear Tree award - a symbol closely associated with the county - on 28 October in a ceremony at Evesham Rowing Club.

    Westfields are the lowest-graded club left in the competition and they were handed a home tie against Vanarama North club Curzon Ashton in the first-round draw.

    Westfields' chief executive, Andy Morris, told BBC Hereford & Worcester the FA has confirmed their tie will not be televised and so will kick off at 15:00 on Saturday, 5 November.

  14. Hartlebury incinerator tribunal beginspublished at 09:31 BST 19 October 2016

    A tribunal begins today over Worcestershire County Council's decision not to publish information relating to the Hartlebury incinerator, due to open next year. 

    The council was asked back in 2014 to reveal the details of a contract connected with the £165m site, but didn't provide information that it said was commercially sensitive. 

    The tribunal is due to start later this morning in London and is expected to last three days.
